A favorite since 1951 when I first had a dog with relish. High school, college, hunting, fishing, coming home -- Texas Tavern/Inn was always there.

My husband gobbled down his Cheesy Western burger before I had my napkin unfolded and placed on my lap. A basket of fries can easily serve 4 people. Dive right in! Nice people work there.

A true Lynchburg institution. Cheesy always hits the spot. Food is always quick and consistently made. do your self a favor and get a couple Cheesys all the way.

After being treated so rudely at the cavalier came to the Texas inn where deb welcomed us with open arms and southern hospitality. We sat at the diner bar and laughed and talked with other local patrons Where we enjoyed our cheap eats.

The food was great as was the service. There is not a huge selection of items on the menu. The chili is highly recommended. The facility is small as is the parking in front; however, there is a larger lot to side. Seating is only...by stools at the counter. Food prep is quick and made to order. I actually went there 4 times and there was always adequate seating & parking (fair number of take out orders).More

I came here as a little girl with my grandfather. And it never disappoints! Visited today for the first time since new ownership. Glad to see I can still get a hot all the way and a cheesy western!

A Cheesy all the way, a bowl and a hot all the way are a must have for anyone looking for a quick inexpensive hot lunch at a local landmark. Don't expect anything fancy but do expect good food and friendly service.

My wife and I found the food to be very bland and greasy. I just do not understand the attraction that this place holds for people. It is a neat place that has some history. Clearly a lot of the customers were regulars which is...nice to see. The chiliis not like any Texas chili that we have ever had and we have spent a bit of time in the Lone Star State. We have also spent a lot of time in Cincinnati which has a number of fine chili restaurants. The cheesy was also disappointing.More

If you visit Lynchburg (aka "The Burg"), the Texas Inn (aka "The T Room") is a must stop--especially late at night...and especially when you need carbs for your earlier imbibing! Order a "Cheesy Western"--no one, NO ONE believes I came up with that name for..."Cheese et Western" after I returned from France one summer; it had been called a Western with Cheese--a bowl (of chili) "with," meaning relish--"flowers" means onions--and a "mugga Bud." (A mug of buttermilk.) Prices are not what they useta be--where are they not?--but go in, grab a stool, and just listen to the locals. Highbrow lore, it t'ain't--but fun with your alternative "fast food."More

This is a great example of the practicality of Trip Advisor. We looked up the best place to eat lunch in Lynchburg and this was at the top of the list. Accurate. Nice little lunch counter is the heart of the city. This place just...exudes character and the food did not disappoint. The Cheesy Western was beyond compare. Even the sweet tea is done right. If you are in the area give this one a try!More

The historic T room. Best hamburgers and hotdogs around. Lots of other good food too. They have 15 bar stools and you will have your food in front of you in moments. Locals favorite. Unique yellow relish to crave.

While we no longer live in the’Burg, we visit family every few months. For five generations a mandatory meal at the Texas Inn is on the docket. The food is excellent, hot and served with a smile.
