We went there on a week night when they were not busy. They seated us in front of the fireplace, and I think we had the best table in the house! The server was very knowledgeable and made a wonderful wine recommendation. My husband and I shared a vegetable spring roll appetizer which we enjoyed quite a lot. He had drunken noodles with beef, which was the only disappointment of the evening. The beef was very tough and he ended up not eating several pieces of it. We would order that dish again but with chicken. I had chicken pad Thai and it was delicious. They ask you what level of “hot” you want and the dishes reflected our choices. Our only real criticism was that the decor is dingy and gives the impression of uncleanliness... especially the carpeting, which looks really dirty. All things considered though, we will be back again.

We always leery of getting Asian food of any kind outside of a Metro area. We had met quite a few locals and they all recommended Napa Thai and the TA reviews confirmed what they were saying. So, we stopped by on a Tuesday night at 5:45 and were warmly greeted and seated in the back room. Our server arrived immediately with water and took our drink orders and asked if we knew what we wanted. We said that we needed some more time. When the drinks arrived we decided on splitting an order of steamed dumplings, then Basil Fried Rice as a main for my wife and I ordered the Crispy Shrimp. We've had dumplings in NYC, SF, DC, PHL, etc. But, these were the best we've ever had. I thought my wife was going to lick the serving dish the sauce was so good... a little salty with a ton of tangy sweetness. Perfect. And the dumplings were filled with a tenderly spiced pork mix. The mains: my wife's rice was 4 on a scale of 10. Some nice heat. Lots of tender veggies, but the cooked basil gave the dish a slightly anise flavor that really made it. My shrimp were crispy... the broccoli even crispier. All in slightly spicey sweet sauce. We're moving to Lexington in April and this will definitely be on our rotation of restaurants in our new home. The service is super friendly. The restaurant is downtown on the North Main street with plenty of on street or parking in one of the several public lots. The decor is slightly Asian and its not loud. And there are lots of great choices on the menu.

When we want Thai, we drive from Roanoke to eat here. This visit was on a Saturday evening during the pandemic. We ordered online, received a 45 minute wait time, and picked up our food to carry out precisely on time; it was 6PM. We noted that the interior of the restaurant was as attractive as ever, but absolutely empty except for staff. They were working furiously to keep up with the large stack of carry out orders. Our Pannang Curry with chicken was perfectly sweet and spicy, and it was portioned large. The Basil chicken was also well spiced and portioned large. Well done.

We thought that over the past weeks they would have gotten their delivery down pat but they sure haven’t. We ordered the basil fried rice and Pad See Ew along with an appetizer of dumplings. We were told that it would arrive in 20-30 minutes and at 1 hour it finally arrived. The fried rice was cold and clumpy and the Pad See Ew was a solid clump of coagulated noodles. The dumplings were cold as well. We also requested some chili paste and was given less than a teaspoon full and no chop sticks as requested. This was impossible to warm up and basically we wasted our money plus nothing to eat. I never understand why a restaurant would take an order for delivery, give their driver multiple stops and expect that an hour later the food would still be hot and edible. Don’t worry we’ll never order from them again.

We made a reservation for dinner. Food was very good, we asked for more spice than standard, and they did that nicely. Had the spicy eggplant and the Kapow, both with chicken, as well as some steamed dumplings. All were very tasty. We ate i, and social distancing was done well. The place is large, and even at 50% capacity had several large loud groups, so not a quiet place for dinner. And they are doing a very healthy take out business... so allow extra time for your food to be served

We ordered the Red Curry with Chicken and Stir Fried Vegetables with Chicken. Both dishes were served Hot and with lots of flavor. Both dishes were made with fresh ingredients and you can smell and taste fresh ginger and basil. The waiter was very knowledgeable of all the dishes and the restaurant was clean. If you love Thai food that has flavor then, Napa Thai is the place.

As far as we are concerned, this is the best Thai restaurant within a reasonable drive from Roanoke. We made the trip today for dinner. Not much has changed, still great Thai food. Thanks to Covid, the menu has fewer items and the prices area bit higher. However, the favorites are still available. We had Garden Rolls, Papaya Salad (much better then what we make at home), Tom Kha soup chicken, Pad Thai chicken, and Red Curry Chicken. All were full flavored and fresh. The bill was $56 including tax.

BLUF: 3.5. Excellent food in a centrally located Thai restaurant a few blocks from VMI. A few odd things, but still recommend it. 3.5 stars My wife and I had a delicious meal here MLK weekend. They have a really good menu and delicious hot sake. The sake was only seven dollars but it was a very small portion … maybe only 3 ounces? I found the odd elevator music not exactly what I would’ve chosen for a Thai restaurant. There was a nice fireplace in the middle of the room that we were in and there were several dining room areas scattered around the building. It is modest, relatively uninteresting decor. But it is clean and fresh and there was a sizable crowd scattered throughout the restaurant on a Sunday night. This was possibly because of an event at the school. I had 6/10 heat level chicken Panang curry with white rice. My wife had the basil fried rice with chicken at 8/10 spice level. Hers was so hot. We were really amazed because we were told that above 10 was a Thai hot level and we have been to Thailand and enjoyed Thai food all over the world, and just didn’t expect that level of heat. In any case, it was very good for her because she likes it hot. My Panang was excellent at the 6 level. When we ordered dessert, it was the only negative thing of significance in the meal. Our server was friendly and very helpful and when we asked to see the dessert menu, my wife and I discussed not getting the usual mango sticky rice we like. Instead, she wanted to try the coconut ice cream. She ordered it when the server returned, and I said to the server “Is that a popular dessert? “ she replied “Yes, it is coconut ice cream with little chocolate flakes. Would you like one scoop or two? “ I looked at my wife and before we could sort out what we wanted, our server said, “Well I’m really only supposed to give you one, but I’ll make it two for you. “ A few minutes later she showed up with two bowls, each with a single scoop in them. We thought that seemed very nice of her to split them up like that. But we were surprised when we got the bill and she simply charged us for two desserts. If I had misunderstood her, that was on me, but the fact that my wife heard exactly what I heard tells me that wasn’t a customer error. That was a server misrepresentation.

Tried for the first time with a group of friends. Some had been there before. Everything was exceptional. We shared, so that everyone could try different appetizers and dishes. I sampled the Papaya salad, spring roll, steamed dumpling, green curry and panang curry with chicken. The best I have ever had. I will definitely return each time, I go to Lexington. Great service also. Highly recommend.

We ate here on our way up north. We had the fried rice, the duck and the green bean and chicken dish. The Duck was a bit fatty but all the flavors worked so well together- particularly the creamy sauce in the green bean/chicken dish. We've left the town but I don't know if I will be able to stop thinking about the flavor of this "never before eaten by us" thai dish! Service is SUPER friendly too!

We were camping in the area and came into town just for supper. Parking in downtown Lexington is always a pain. Walking into this establishment, decor and building were a little shabby, but efforts had been made to spruce it up. We were seated quickly and had a outstanding waiter, Marshall. Helpful with selecting a sake for my husband, very friendly and talkative about Thai food. Food was excellent - dumplings appetizer, pan thai for hubby, shrimp and vegetables or me, sticky rice and mango for dessert. Asked owner to come out so we could compliment her on everything. Lovely women, with her father and hubby being the chefs. Would recommend it highly.

We stopped in for an early dinner on a Thursday and only a few people there. Friendly free and immediately taken to a table. The server brought two waters and took our food order but never asked what we wanted to drink. My wife had the fried rice with chicken and it was good but she said it was dry and not very flavorful. I had the red curry which was very good - rich and creamy sauce but very little spice. The service was friendly but seemed to be hurried. The place was almost full by the time we left. The total bill came to $ 31.

This is our favorite Thai restaurant within driving distance of Roanoke. In fact, it is the only Thai restaurant we patronize when we are home; none of the others nearby suit our tastes. And, those tastes have been informed by eating Thai whenever we travel, by Thai cooking classes (including in Bangkok), and by routinely cooking Thai at home. Definitely worth the trip. Sure wish they were located here in Roanoke.

Ordered food to pickup, was told 45 minutes. Waited an hour and a half. Food was still not ready, cancelled order, missed appointment and ended up with no dinner that night. Never again!
