The bistro is a quaint, small restaurant, on Main Street in Lexington, Virginia. The main restaurant area had two large round tables, and I believe four or five banquette tables. The bar area had seating at the bar and 3? tables. Having just arrived in Lexington,...and checked into our hotel, we decided to go to The Bistro for dinner. When we entered, the server was cleaning off a table in the far right corner, which we thought was lucky for us, because we would get a table right away. By now it was about 7:25 pm, and the restaurant closed at 8. The server politely asked if we had reservations, and upon learning that we did not, told us that the only available seating was at the bar. At this point, at least 2 of the bar tables were empty, as well as a couple in the dining room. We took our seats at the bar and were served by a very polite and friendly gentleman. I had the puttanesca and my companion had the sirloin. Mine was very good, and his just okay. When we left the restaurant at 8, not one party arrived to be seated at the empty tables. So we wondered why we were delegated to the bar, when, obviously, no other customers, with reservations arrived? Plus it was 35 minutes to closing, when we arrived, so you would think that they would know when reservations would arrive. We did not complain, because we had an enjoyable, relaxing meal, and the gentleman who served us was so congenial, making us feel welcome. However, we felt that there was no reason to be sent to sit at the bar, when no other reservations were expected.More
