I would recommend almost anything but the steaks. I had crab cakes on a subsequent visit and they were superb.

The decor was fun. The food was moderately good but overpriced. The salmon was good but slightly overlooked even though I asked for it medium rare. The scallops were bland. The bread was divine served with olive oil and Parmesan cheese to dip in. The service was good.

So this place has a bit of history given locals have been patronizing this place. I believe now it's under a new management and I am sure quite a few things needs to be ironed out. Food was not that bad and it all depends what you have ordered. This place has potential and hope to see some good improvements... More

We've eaten at Trick Dog several times over the year. We've gotten used to and overlook the bizarre decor and red velvet booths. But choices are limited in Irvington. We won't be back. On our last visit, service was very slow and they weren't busy. The worst part was the food. My husband's steak was more fat and gristle than... More

This is the second time we have eaten at this restaurant. We really enjoyed our first visit, about five years ago. We said that we would definitely go back when we return to the area. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing. The bar attracts the locals. The dining room seemed to be all tourist. I would recommend a table... More

When Nate sold the Trick Dog to veteran restaurateurs Tony and Jannette Fraga a few months back there was a lot of anticipation in town - would things change, would things remain the same? And I was one of the most anticipatory! I dined there the same week that they took possession of the key, and the major change at... More

We've always enjoyed our visits to Irvington and the Trick Dog. I wonder why they don't clean their wine glasses. Water spots and no attention to detail. Not an inexpensive restaurant so I expect more. Good food, okay service but please... You can do better, step it up!

I'm very sorry to say that we were sadly disappointed in Trick Dog. We'd looked at their menu in advance of a trip to the area and were looking forward to eating there. While the bar and dining room are very attractive/upscale, the food/service did not live up to the surroundings or the price point (entrees $18-$30). When we arrived... More

Been going here off and on for years and it's always been good, sometimes better than others. Stopped in last night and snagged the only two seats available at the bar. Immediately noticed big, but subtle changes. It seems there is a new sheriff in town and a couple darn smart deputies, too. Looks like they're sticking with the tried... More

We were looking forward to dinner at Nates but were disappointed. At those prices we were expecting something special. There was only one server that night.....the other one had called in sick, so service was spotty though she did her best. My wife had the pork shank which was too salty to enjoy. Not sure if we'll give it another... More
