When Nate sold the Trick Dog to veteran restaurateurs Tony and Jannette Fraga a few months back there was a lot of anticipation in town - would things change, would things remain the same? And I was one of the most anticipatory! I dined there the same week that they took possession of the key, and the major change at... More

We've always enjoyed our visits to Irvington and the Trick Dog. I wonder why they don't clean their wine glasses. Water spots and no attention to detail. Not an inexpensive restaurant so I expect more. Good food, okay service but please... You can do better, step it up!

I'm very sorry to say that we were sadly disappointed in Trick Dog. We'd looked at their menu in advance of a trip to the area and were looking forward to eating there. While the bar and dining room are very attractive/upscale, the food/service did not live up to the surroundings or the price point (entrees $18-$30). When we arrived... More

Been going here off and on for years and it's always been good, sometimes better than others. Stopped in last night and snagged the only two seats available at the bar. Immediately noticed big, but subtle changes. It seems there is a new sheriff in town and a couple darn smart deputies, too. Looks like they're sticking with the tried... More

We were looking forward to dinner at Nates but were disappointed. At those prices we were expecting something special. There was only one server that night.....the other one had called in sick, so service was spotty though she did her best. My wife had the pork shank which was too salty to enjoy. Not sure if we'll give it another... More

Nate's Trick Dog is a dining experience you don't want to miss, if you find yourself in the charming town of Irvington, VA. The food is outstanding. I had lamb loin chops that were meaty and juicy and done to perfection. They were accompanied with minted sweet onion compote, baby lima beans, asparagus, and fingerling potatoes. My husband had the... More

My last visit was a typical Trick Dog experience - outstanding service from our server, Julia, who remembered how I liked my Martini made, and while the menu had not changed, the items on it have always been very well prepared and presented. But that's the thing - it can stand some change, and I'm counting on new owners, husband... More

This small but charming restaurant was an unexpected treat! The oysters were great as was the fish special. Large nice bar and music playing as well as friendly staff made this a treat!

A bit of disappointment as we arrived that evening to discover Nate has sold this restaurant not even a week prior to our arrival BUT... Having been 'non local' regulars to Nate's, we were not disappointed in the least. The service was great and our food was spectacular as usual. The restaurant was buzzing which makes for an exciting ambiance... More

We had a terrific dinner at Nate's. After a rather slow start, the service was excellent-- our server was personable and attentive, the ambiance warm and comfortable and the food was terrific. We shared some absolutely wonderful roasted oysters as an appetizer, The crabcakes, or as our server called them "pillows of crab', were among the best I had ever... More
