Pros- Kitbar bar is a cool concept. A new dining experience for us. Staff did explain the idea, but wish there was more attention brought to the oven/cooking area. Drinks were strong. We ordered 4 drinks, however only one really stood out and was worth the price. Food- Prime rib was very well seasoned but a little over cooked for the medium rare I ordered. Hot and cold dips and s’mores pizza was the highlights of our dinner. Cons- Service was a little slow. Staff was friendly but collecting checks, taking orders was a collective strategy. Without a dedicated server, we were left trying to grab people’s attention rather than quick execution. Overall a good experience and would recommend for a night out or a date night. Meatloaf sliders would have been the move next visit.

Great Experience!

We stopped here about noon on a Saturday after getting coffee at a Starbucks nearby. We were looking for somewhere to get lunch before headed out of town and this looked like a good place, was close and had positive reviews. We walked in and were taken to the bar counter which surrounds the kitchen and bar. As another Yelper mentioned where the name Kitbar comes from. They have two grills in the center with a stone covered pizza oven. We were provided menus, told about the specials and our drink orders were taken. We both decided to order the prime burger burger with the cove's sauce on the side. It was kinda fun to watch our meals being prepared in front of us. Our burgers were cooked right there on the grill and then assembled and served. The burgers tasted yummy and hit the spot! My wife used the bathroom and stated they were clean and well appointed, they even had toilet seat covers which are a damn rare thing these days for the area . We have lived on the west coast for years and this is just a general observation we have made. Weird thing I know but important in our opinion. Overall it was a good experience and we would come back and recommend to others!

Something Different and Always Good

We have not been to the restaurant in awhile because it is not local to us. We were surprised to get a table during lunch because they are always packed. The server was nice and took our order right away. The menu had changed a little and some of our favorites were no longer on the menu and well as the fresh raspberry tea that we enjoyed. They had some nice new items though that we tried. Both of us enjoyed our meals. The prices are high, but the quality is normally good. We have tried a lot of the items over the years and have always enjoyed them. We also enjoyed the soup. Hopefully we will be back soon.

Amazing service from Matt and always great food

Stopped in today to eat outside and take advantage of the nice weather. As soon as I sat down, Matt came out with a welcoming smile and said “hey, I remember you, you like the flat iron steak with tater tots, right?” Mind blown. I hadn’t been there in over 6 months, and only went maybe once every few months, a total of about 5x, just because of distance from my home, and didn’t always order that same thing. Then he proceeded to tell me which 2 things I don’t want in the Cobb salad. Mind even more blown. This time I got the salmon with asparagus…everything cooked perfectly and delicious as always. Also asked to speak with the manager so I could give Matt kudos, and the manager was super personable too, and clearly dedicated to creating a great customer experience. Highly recommend giving Stone’s Cove a try.

Not something I can recommend

A rather peculiar place for sure. Not sure if it was a diner or a bar or a Dennys. Only bar seating and a few high tops. Sat for 10 solid minutes before we got a hello in a near empty restaurant. Seeing food cooked in front of you buy kids who clearly had about 15 minutes of training was a bit off-putting. It would take a lot for us to go back. Just can’t recommend it.

Wonderful, lively spot with great food and prices

Wonderful, lively spot! Had happy hour drinks and then dinner. They have an extensive happy hour menu with great prices on both drinks and substantial appetizers. Beer for 2?! Three sliders for $8?! My wife had shrimp and grits and I had beef tenderloin sliders with a side of steamed vegetables for dinner. All was superb. The cooking is all done right inside the bar area and the activity is fun to watch. I highly recommend a visit!

Unique but unimpressive

Interior space was unique. A large stone pizza oven is surrounded by a large multidimensional bar. They also have a small covered patio. They have drink specials daily and a happy hour during the week. Their prickly pear margarita and the blueberry bourbon sour were nothing exciting as was the crab dip appetizer. Being unimpressed by our selections nothing else was ordered. Service was pleasant.

Bait and switch

Overnight stay for flight so went on line to find a restaurant. Decided to try Stones based on happy hour menu. When got their reality hits home-prices on menu up by 40+%!! from web menu. Service and food was good but….

Stones Cove impressed me and my companion. The friendly and super accommodating staff made certain that we had everything we needed. The waitress gave us wonderful menu recommendations. The detailed presentation of the platters and drinks really impressed us. Best of all, the flavor combinations were bold and memorable.

Not as good

Went there for lunch. Service was fine but food was terrible. I’ve been here a few times but it had been a while and it clearly has gone downhill. Ordered chicken and veggies and the veggies were undercooked while the chicken was overcooked. No seasoning whatsoever… it’s the first time in a while I had to reach for salt at the table just to make it palatable.

Best ever shrimp and grits

We stopped in for lunch. My husband had the shrimp and grits. The grits were mounded in the center of the plate, and the shrimp were placed on end around it. He said it was the best shrimp and grits he has ever had. We are from South Carolina, so he has eaten a lot of shrimp and grits. I had the plank salmon which was delicious. We shared a piece of cheesecake which was huge. It was as tall as a piece of three-layer cake, and it was delicious. We sat at a low table close to the grill. The service was excellent, and it was fun to watch the food preparation. We chatted with several people who were working behind the bar.

Great food with original touches.

We have visited SKB several times recently and found the service to be both friendly and professional. They serve food that’s a bit different from your normal fayre. Some dishes for example, the meatloaf cupcakes , were an original idea . To us at least. They do a good value brunch and also have specials too. All dishes cooked and presented with care. No extra seasoning required. Always a good sign. We think it’s great value and glad it’s not a formulaic chain. They serve local craft beer . A bargain at happy hour.

Good service and food, slow kitchen

There were only two in our party but the food came out at different times. Once the food did arrive, it was good. Don't go here if you are in a hurry. Burger was rare rather than medium as ordered but since the kitchen was slow the first time, I didn't send it back.

Go To this Restaurant!!! Very Good!

This is my second time here…as I’m only in VA when visiting my son. We love this restaurant. The chicken salad lettuce wraps or the sandwich is THE best chicken salad I have ever had anywhere. My son gets the Cuban and said it was great! Add some 1980’s and 1990’s music…the perfect spot. Check this place out…you will love it!

Visited for Saturday Bruch

Brunch was quiet. Staff was pleasant and friendly. Had the drunken pancakes, which had bits of jalapeño and corn in them. Did not taste bad, just strange. When we asked about it, we were told, everything on the menu has a unique Stone's spin on it. Which is fun if that is what you like. We sat near the center (loved the unique seating options) and left smelling like we sat near the grill, which we did. Not sure if I would do that again.
