Before I start, I want to clarify that I have never eaten here because I was not given the chance. Here is how it went down. I called the restaurant week ending 9/9/22 and spoke to a super sweet young girl on the phone to...make a reservation for 9/30/22 at 6:45pm. She was awesome and booked it for me. On Monday, 9/12/22 a very rude woman named Karen called me on my cell phone to let me know how ticked off she was that the nice girl the week prior booked me a reservation for parents’ weekend! That right there set me off because she was bad mouthing her coworker to a soon to be patron. She then proceeded to say that she, Karen oversaw all reservations for parents’ weekend and that I cannot have that time of 6:45pm, and that I had to have 7:50pm instead. She was so rude about it, like it was my fault! No apologies, or anything! I then asked if she was the manager, she replied yes and then I asked if she reported to anyone and she said a man named Matt and I asked to speak to him and or have him call me and she ranted and raved loudly on the phone that he can't help you get the reservation you want, and me still being calm said, I would like him to call me back please. Well, she hung up on me. I have been trying to get a hold of this Matt person all week since this happened and it's interesting because there are so many nice write ups and interviews about him online. Finally after 4 days of me leaving several messages, he called me back with the same attitude as Karen. I was shocked that he acted this way as a business owner. He defended Karen;s behavior and said he’s known her 10 years etc. and accused me of being rude to her. I said, she should not have told me how ticked off she was at the hostess because that is unprofessional behavior, and she is representing your restaurant. He said if you don’t like it then don’t come here! Needless to say, we will not be going here ever for the next four years of my son’s college experience at JMU and I plan to spread the word because of this horrific experience. They must have a pretty big clientele since they are able to just rudely turn people away. Thankfully there are so many other wonderful restaurants in the area to choose from. I truly wish them the best!More

Great ambience, art everywhere. We actually wound up buying a piece of art off the wall. Food was excellent. My wife’s steak was cooked perfectly. I got the curry with salmon. I think it was possibly the best cooked piece of salmon I’ve eaten, so...good I ordered another piece mid meal (I’ve never done that before). If we’re ever in the area again, I’d definitely come back.More

In town for a sports competition at JMU; tried out Clementine's on a Friday night. We had a 35 minute wait but were able to explore downtown and wait for the restaurant to call us. Grilled salmon was the best preparation of salmon I have...ever had. My husband got the shrimp and grits small plate, which was quite good. Despite my skepticism about messing with an Old Fashioned, the Fig and Vanilla Old Fashioned was smooth and tasty. For such an open space, the room was not noisy. Even when the live music started, we could still talk easily at our table. Loved the artwork. Tables were relatively well-spaced and the room was airy (for those with COVID concerns). Great acoustic music gave the place a nice coffee house vibe.More

Outstanding food. Cute inside decor. We started with the Hummus Plate (roasted garlic hummus served with fried pita chips, english cucumber, feta and a tomato-olive-basil tapenade). I had a shrimp wrap with sweet and sour sauce. My partner had Red Curry with sautéed shrimp (A...bowl of coconut red curry served with sticky rice, red peppers, green beans, edamame and asparagus). In the past we ate outside in the back (BBQ sandwiches) - that was good too.More

I enjoyed a delicious spicy curry with a shared horsdeurve of crab dip on toasted pita bread points. Outlier and contemporary art covering the walls up to the high ceiling. My partners enjoyed steak and burgers. Menu was diverse and able to please a picky...palate.More

Nice atmosphere, perhaps a bit dim though. Our party of 5 was cozy in window table which seats 7-8. We enjoyed a variety of dishes. I especially LOVED the Tomato Basil Soup! Great homemade desserts! Greater server - Kattie/Kaitie? Took note of the fact I...was using a lighted magnifier to read the bill.More

We used Harrisonburg as our base for a week long Shenandoah NP trip and were quite pleased with this restaurant. Adorable atmosphere, delicious food, great prices! I had the chicken curry, and three weeks later I am still thinking about it! We ate indoors (it...was 96 that day) but they do have outdoor seating as well which would be pretty awesome ambience wise too. Prices were beyond fair for the portions and quality of the food. As a note - this restaurant (as well as many others and the shops in downtown) are closed all day on Sunday and Monday. That was a real bummer since it was middle part of of trip, but I am glad we kept going back until they opened.More

For anyone who has food allergies or is a Celiac-- do NOT go here. Our server was completely careless about a member of our party who is celiac. While we asked to be sure that the burger was gluten free and she assured us it...was, it was NOT. We were later told it was not gf after it was already eaten. This is an insanely dangerous way to run a restaurant. If you have any allergies, please do not risk it. They will surely hurt more people or even kill someone the way they currently run this restaurant when it comes to allergens.More

My family and I ate brunch at Clementine's for our first visit during a recent weekend trip to Harrisonburg. After a 40 min. wait, we enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service. However, we all agreed that our food was only so-so, with the exception of...the crab dip appetizer, which we liked. It seems like a great place to have a drink, but we were disappointed in the food, especially compared to some other nearby restaurants we've enjoyed. The consensus of our group is that we'd give Clementine's another try, but it wouldn't be our first choice.More

Wanted to eat outside due to Covid. But since this is a college town, it was hard to find a place that was quite and socially distant. As we walked by I looked In the door of Clementines and there was no one in the...restaurant. It was completely empty. II wasn’t sure how to interrupt that. Was it a good restaurant? Why is it not busy on a Saturday night. Being an out of Towner, I had no way of knowing for sure. We took a chance and went in. The two hostesses were very friendly and we asked for a table with outdoor seating. She took us down a flight of stairs to the basement and out through a dark catacomb like room that doubled as a bar area. Being a college town, we thought it was different, but it was clean. We exited out the other side of the basement into a lovely and surprising outdoor dining space full of large trough potted plants, white Christmas lights and a protective tent around the area in case of rain, and a selection of socially distant tables. The waiter was attentive and helpful. I ordered the fish and chips and my husband ordered the fried chicken. I have to say, it was THE best Fish and chips I ever had. Dessert was wonderful too. As time went by the place filled up. I Would recommend Clementines and to think twice before leaving a place just because no one is eating there, when you peek in. Sometimes, that’s the best time to go!More

Clementine never disappoints. I travel to Harrisonburg a lot and always make it a point to go to Clementine for lunch and sometimes dinner. The best chicken sandwich in the world! The environment is open and airy and they have outdoor dining.
