All reviews brunch mango preserves french toast shrimp and grits beignets quiche fried green tomatoes linguine red snapper country ham seafood platter steak chicken every bite worth the wait small restaurant
My Son and I had an outstanding Sunday brunch experience. Food was not only plentiful but frankly fabulous. Who knew a flight of Mimosas could be so much fun! Mixed drinks were not only inventive but delicious. Breakfast had a wonderful Tidewater twist that makes...this a must stop for anyone interested in the region's cuisine. And given the staffing challenges of COVID it is amazing to see a wait staff that works as a tightly knit team. Bravo to the owners for keeping them together.More
I called the restaurant on Saturday to try to give a heads up about my 12 person party on Sunday for my moms 65th birthday. The hostess told me that someone would call me back,,,that call never came. I then sent an email round 8am...and received a call around 9. I explained my large party and was told that the wait time would be about an hour if I arrived to put my name on the wait list within 20 minutes. I arrived at 9:45am (for an 11 event), explained the call i had just had and the hostess WAS SO FREAKIN RUDE when she told me that my wait would be an hour to 2 hours. I waited until 11:30, I then rechecked where we were on the list and was told that we would need 2 tables and only one of the tables were empty and they were waiting for guests to leave the other table. So I asked if the older women in our party could sit at the table that was ready while the rest of us waited outside and was told NO. Long story short, we were not seated until 12 and then were told that after we got our check, they would appreciate it if we left within 15 minutes. The drinks were over priced and not that great and the food was amazing....not worth a two hour wait tho. The portions were small. and I literally watched a young lady be told the wait was two hours. she sat in front of an empty table outside for the two hours only to be seated at the same empty table....which was free the entire time, The food is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Ihop has better service and for what they charge, they should be on top of their gameMore
Horrible seating processes. We arrived and was told by the host there would be a 45 minute wait but could be seated at the bar immediately. Within minutes of us sitting down, three tables got up . I asked if we could move to one...of the vacant tables and was told I would have to go back to the bottom of the wait-list. I asked for the manager and explained to her, we initially wanted a table but sat at the bar because we were told the wait would be so long. She basically brushed me off and told me we couldn't move. The tables remained empty for the next 15 minutes. This restaurant's seating processes and staff are ridiculous. And they automatically charge you 18% for sitting at the bar. Pay attention to your checks.More
The Hampton crab cake dinner was the best - no filler, 2 large crab cakes , strings beans and mashed potatoes! Good to the very last bite. Small, women minority owned restaurant that puts the customer first and serves high quality food at a very...reasonable price.More
I’ve been a patron of Mango Mangeaux for years and I am never disappointed. But I had to leave a review because lately I’ve become addicted to the “low country linguini” and the “so panache salmon” sandwich!! Whenever I have friends in town I ALWAYS...take them here, it’s an experience!More
Had reservations and we did get there a bit early so that we could partake in the Happy Hour specials as per their website and was told that due to the bar not being open they didn't have those advertised specials. We ordered our drinks...and waited patiently for the rest of our party to arrive. Basically the waitress was overwhelmed and for the size of the bistro it was only 1 table that was not occupied even during the 50% capacity rule in VA. The bartender, Sheldon was not happy when a few people from my party complained about the drink service and also about not receiving food. The waitress Cat was very sweet but over worked and overwhelmed. Especially when there is a reservation they should have taken into consideration with their schedules. The steak that was ordered took about 2 hours to receive even after the rest of the orders had already been paid for. Some of the food was under cooked. Very rude, unprofessional, uncalled behavior and will not be returning. I will say that the drink that I had the Woo Woo was actually good, only positive thing of the evening..More
Terrible service, extremely slow, 40 mins for a drink, hour and a half for food, entrees came before appetizers, medium rare steak came almost 2 hours after and was over cooked, poor waitresses had to put up with a chauvinistic egotistical manager/only bartender by the...name of sheldon who was unprofessional to his staff, his customers and his profession.
The restaurant was overwhelmed, over capacity and we witnessed many customers complain. The food was mediocre at best and the overpriced cocktails were poorly executed by the bartender (who was on his phone sipping tea behind the bar when his 2 waitresses were struggling to keep up)More
My son took me here for my bday, the place is nice, social distancing was ok,We had reservations which was waiting when we got there. The drinks was good, the waitress was very nice, the food was really not that good,I had a seafood platter, the fish was raw, the...fries was the best part other then the mango tartar sauce..More
