Good food, reasonably priced (for someone from out-of-state). Long line and little COVID awareness. The staff did a wonderful job keeping all the orders straight and the food was very good.

We stopped by last Sunday for a family meal to go. The barbecue was drenched in an orangey oil. By the time we got home, the oil was sloshed out of the sides of the package…a slimy mess. If you are going to weigh the...barbecue, please dont charge your customers for that oil! I have never experienced this before, but seriously, the barbecue was fatty and too oily. Just not good. The pepper cabbage, collards and stew were excellent though.More

The food is quite good and reasonably priced for BBQ. The ribs and pork belly are delicious! We got the 8 ribs and then a BBQ lovers platter. It was too much food to finish! Leftovers are never a bad thing! The spicy slaw is...worth a try! There is a nice selection of sides. If you are not a Pepsi product drinker, there is not a lot of selection, but there is also beer and some wine. The decor reminds me of the camps I went to as a kid, but with air conditioning inside! We decided to go mid-afternoon, so there was no wait. I look forward to trying more when we are back this way!More

We loved everything about this place. The food is delicious, the service is outstanding and friendly and the building itself is comfortable and very clean. Lots of outdoor seating and ample tables onside. We had pulled pork, pork belly, pulled brisket and ribs. There are...5 different sauces to choose from on the tables. The fried pickles are good, please note that they are spears. We had the spicy coleslaw- it's quite good but not too spicy. It's tabasco-based and the server was kind enough to warn us about it. The pumpkin muffin that came with my platter was really good, too.More

We loved our meal from here. The pulled pork, pork belly, fries, hush puppies, pumpkin muffins and purgatory sandwich was all excellent! We were so full and got our moneys worth!

I drive 70 miles for this food. After 8 years, the food-across the board- is still outstanding. The place is small-and it's packed (good eating places always are). Things get busy and chaotic, so stand in line a few moments. The pulled pork remains incredible....The sauces are excellent. The atmosphere is like a football game tailgate. So what is the problem? Prepare yourself for this; then enjoy some really great food. I buy the pork 5 lbs at a time for home parties. There is never, never a bad food experience here, when you understand this isn't a 5-star, sit down, get pampered restaurant. This place slings it out-and we inhale some incredibly great food. Have a problem with crowds and tiny spaces? Go somewhere else-that's more room for the rest of us. How can you not rate this place great, when you understand what it's like to be here, accept that, and pig out on great barbeque. Thank you BBQ Exchange. Don't change a thing; just save me some more pulled pork. I'm on my way again. Great eats.More

Very very good! Go! You will enjoy it. It gets packed which really says a lot about the place but the food was delish and reasonably priced! Also great service! So glad we found this spot.

When we first went to BBQ Ex, the food was wonderful! Since they’ve been visited by the food network, their quality has gone downhill yet pricing remains the same or higher. Service is not that great currently, hopefully it will improve after covid is over....Go to L&Js up the street in the antique parking lot. They are fresh & good! Pricing is very reasonable!More

If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. They offer great food at an affordable price. I haven't had anything I didn't like.

Four of us served together in the Navy over 50 years ago and still meet up for reunions. Staying at Lake Anna and was told about the BBQ Exchange. Short wait and we all ordered and sat at picnic tables. My Ribs with "Hog Fire"...sauce we some of the best and I have traveled the world. All the sides and pickles, mine horseradish were amazing. All the flavor were amazing and staff busy and cheerful.More

We are staying at the nearby Shenandoh Crossings and this place gets rave reviews from the staff, but we were disappointed. No inside dining, but the outside area was decent. Stand in line ordering was chaotic and crowded. And slow. My husband had a rib...meal and I had a brisket meal for $48! Pricey for bbq. Ribs were fatty and not exciting. Brisket was quite good and crazy tender. Potato salad is very mustardy (not my taste) and beans were average. Hush puppies and cole slaw were good. Overall, a disappointing experience.More

We drive out of our way based on the reviews. I hope they were having a bad day but the BBQ was just average - at best. The price of a basic BBQ sandwich was stunningly high - I am all for local businesses making...a profit - but my advice is check the menu for prices in advanceMore

Drove quite a ways to have supper here. After walking up to the table to order I was informed that I had to order online. Instead of just taking my order and type it into their computer so we just decided to leave and go...down the street to well hung Vineyards. The food was great with plenty of seating and a great waitress. Not everybody has smartphones to call in an order while standing in front of their waitress to have pulled pork. Will not be backMore

Gordonsville has little to offer in the way of dining. But ask anyone, BBQ Exchange is the place to go. We ordered a large brisket sandwich and collard greens. I'd say the brisket is not smoked. It's boiled like corn beef and instead of pickling...spices, perhaps some liquid smoke thrown. Best case, a pile of near tasteless mush. Collard greens not too bad. But over the top loaded with bacon. So you taste much in the way of greens. Avoid is the best advise we can offer.More

It is big enough on the inside. I have no idea how busy Friday nights are though. Might want to call ahead.
