Been a few times , food is great but they mess up our order when we call it in. Food is good, service could improve!

My sister and I was going to be staying at Airbnb in Front Royal for several days so looked up local restaurant to have lunch on our way there. We couldn’t immediately find the location but when we did, what a treat. Welcomed by a...smiling face and warm atmosphere. The crabcakes, Mac-n-cheese and collard greens will make you order extra to go! Definitely will go back and worth a stop even if you pick up to take home.More

I am very picky about crabcakes, and these are the best. Even better than what you find on the Eastern shore of Maryland. The potato salad and coleslaw are exceptionally good. And it’s a cute little place on Main Street with a really nice staff.

I discovered this place while on an outing with my family to visit nearby Shenandoah National Park. We were made very welcome with a friendly "Welcome Home!" from the chef, Buck. They advertise the best crab cakes, and they deliver! The crab cakes are very...large and made of big lump crab. They are served as a side or sandwich with yummy remoulade sauce. I highly recommend making the trip to Front Royal just to eat at Talk of the Mountain.More

The hush puppies and mac & cheese were delicious but the whiting fish we had was bland as were the collard greens. The fries tasted burnt seem like the oil was they were cooked in was not fresh.

I met them in a kitchen in a gas station, and they deservedly graduated to their own establishment, next to the movie theater no less. Always phenomenal cuisine. Great music also, reminds me of my home, WDC. Appreciate the down to Earth-ness. Many wishes for...a outstanding success !! Eat here ya'll (-: (Be safe everybody)More

I wish I'd gotten a photo but I wolfed it down too quick. Imagine if you took Long John Silvers Menu but made it GOOD. We had crab cake sandwiches (so meaty, could have made two sandwiches), crispy, fresh fries, and hushpuppies. The crab cakes...were massive, no filler, great flavor, a few shells but hey, that's the nature of the beast. The fries had great flavor but the hushpuppies... Sweet, savory, crunchy, just... Omg. I wish I'd gotten photos before I'd stuffed it all in my gob. I had called in the order and I know it was fresh because I had to wait a few minutes for it to finish cooking. We were just in town for an errand but I'd go back if I was near there again. Someone commented that there wasn't much ambiance... True... But we got carryout and ate it in the car, more because we didn't want force a waitress to take care of us when we were more the capable of eating in our own space. I will add the staff was friendly and kind, and if it's important to you that they were COVID conscious, yes, they were all wearing masks and I witnessed them washing their hands several times. Ah, what weird times we live in to include that in a food review. Anyway, go! Get the hushpuppies! Get an extra order for later, you're gonna wish you did!More

This is a take-out place, period. The current (Nov 2020) location is a take-over of a closed facility with little to no upgrades or improvement to the seating area. However, the food remains exceptional if you're good with fried seafood or crabcake sandwiches. I live...in Maryland for over a decade and looked for the best crabcake. I found a few contenders, but nothing compared to Talk of the Mountain's crabcake. A half pound of crab, minimal binders, perfect seasoning, and true perfection. Get a couple of take-out orders, take home, replate with candles and wine, a perfect dinner.More

Wouldn't normally go for seafood for breakfast, but this was really good. A Catfish and egg sandwich, shrimp and waffles, crabcake eggs Benedict... it was all very tasty. Will be coming back for dinner sometime.

This is a hidden gem. Very tasty food, extremely congenial staff, unpretentious, friendly, and all-in-all a great place for an informal seafood meal.
