It's extremely rare for me to give 1 star but I'm not going to pad this in any way because this is exactly what they deserve. In no particular order: * We arrived about 2.45PM and they were mopping the floor with some very bleachy-smelling...solution that was wayyy too strong to be used in a restaurant during open house. We discussed walking out but had been driving for almost 2 hours and needed some food & decided to stick with it. * There was only ONE other table seated when we arrived. A staff member greeted us after a couple of mins and asked for our drink order. We asked a hot tea and two waters. 5 mins later no drinks still. Another 5 mins and a different person brought us our two waters but no hot tea. *12 mins after we placed the drink order the hot tea arrives & only then did they take our food order. We ordered a few of our usual sushi go-to items: SUSHI: Yellowtail, Tuna, Eel SHRIMP TEMPURA SEAFOOD RAMEN Tempura: I've been eating Japanese tempura since the late 1970's. I knew as soon as I took my first bite this place uses a cheap and nasty pre-battered frozen shrimp. I work in the foodservice industry and you see this stuff all over the place now unfortunately and lower-end 'japanese' restaurants and it's just not very good . The texture of a frozen tempura shrimp bears almost no resemblance to a fresh hand-dipped tempura. The shrimp also had faint ammonia smell to it and was almost inedible. It's also been prepared on a skewer and is perfectly straight, and unnatural, which is not the way fresh hand dipped tempura comes out. The Yellowtail sushi was clearly frozen previously. Some fish can still be good if flash frozen and thawed properly, but in general sushi should be FRESH FISH, and then was not. It was watery, mushy and had strings of muscle that are common in the cheapest cuts of 'sushi' fish, rather than the tender loin cuts that are pure meat and no connective tissue. Tuna wasn't as bad but still less than optimal. Eel was the only one of the 3 that was just OK. I mean eel is frozen anyway, and you have to really screw up to make it inedible. The seafood ramen was the only dish that we had that actually had good flavor and a nice selection of seafood. SERVICE: A fairly young guy of maybe early 20's took our food order but some girl delivered it. After the food was served the guy, our 'waiter' NEVER ONCE came back to the table. Instead he sat down in the booth RIGHT NESIDE OURS and was watching some kind of video on his phone the entire time we are, even though our water glasses and hot team were empty. He never checked to see how we were doing, or ask if the food was good - NOTHING but watching his very important video. THREE TABLES in the restaurant, and we can't get a refill on our water? I'm really just disgusted even taking the time to write this but it's not fair to keep people from spending their hard-earned money at a place that isn't even TRYING to do the basics. I get it that this place chooses to take shortcuts on the quality of the food they serve, but at least back it up with solid, friendly service and you might have a chance. But this was beyond insulting and I will never ever go back again. I work too hard to blow money on this type of slop.More
