I was hungry for some souhtern bbq after coming back from NC to Pa. I saw the sign on I 81 around 7:30pm and I didn't eat supper yet so i decided to give it a try. I"m glad I did because My pork bbq sandwich was like a inch high of moist pork and they had 5 different bbq sauuses to put on if you desire. I got sweet potato casserole and mac and cheese as my 2 sides. Both of them were a huge portion and both were delicious.

We love Due South. Amazing food. Highly recommend everything! Robb Meat falls off the bone! Tender juicy full of flavor you don’t need any of their 5 sauces. Smoked then fried chicken is to die for! Good selection of beers and inside or outside or semi outside seating. Love it there.

We haven't been in a couple years, but the food was just as fantastic! We always order a platter that comes with 2 sides and we get four different sides and share them. The sweet potatoes are sooooooooooo good! Heck, who am I kidding, it's all so good! If you like BBQ, you will not be disappointed. They have a good variety of sauces so everyone should be able to find one and they are great.

I have ordered as much as $500plus orderes from Due South since they have opened I believe my smallest order was almost $200.
I normally pick it up as I am usually taking it to my place of business.
Today I am having a problem with my foot so I decided to place an order for my family. Ordered in the bulk foods by the quarts.
It came to almost $140 before taxes. I Got told it had to be $200 or they would loose money so they could not deliver.
HOWEVER if I order plate meals or just sandwiches they would deliver.
The 4 sandwich mealsor plate meals with sides would be less than $60.
They will deliver me a single sandwich because they advertise no minimum on deliveries but not a $140 order. They loose money.
I will be ordereding my business food from someone else after today.

RIDICULOUS!!!! Was told that the chicken tenders were HUGE. Does this look huge to you? Hair in with the food and fries were so soggy. Tasted like they had sat there all day. Has gone so down hill and they have gotten stingy with the to go sauces it was like pulling teeth to get some extra sauce.

This review is for the Christiansburg location.
If a numerical rating system were available I would give it a -10.
My group arrived just after opening and the restaurant was very cold. After a good 20 minutes an employee turned up the thermostat but by that time we had finished our meal and preparing to leave. This employee was also seen running to her car several times – maybe it was to keep warm.
The food is overpriced for the small portion of tasteless food received. The food was warm, not hot as would be expected, and we believe it was warmed in the microwave as leftovers from the previous day. They were smoking meat when we arrived so one would think you would receive fresh food.
The pulled pork had very tough pieces in it that could not be bitten through nor could the fork break it up. The roll it was served on fell apart. The greens had the consistency of being from a can.
The sauce bottles on the table needed to be wiped down. On top of that, they were tasteless.
The table across from us had not been cleaned from the previous night and had dried pulled pork on the seat and crumbs on the table.
After leaving the restaurant we then went to another to get a proper meal as we were only able to eat three bites of our sandwiches.
Not once did an employee stop by the table to ask if everything was ok. We were not the only customers there. You pay when you place your order, literally right inside the single front door which is a poor arrangement.

Those were easily the worst ribs I have ever had in my life. Ribs that have been “smoked” should have some char to them. Ribs are not supposed to be served cool. Baby back ribs are supposed to be tender and fall off the bone. Especially if they have been SMOKED properly. These ribs were like biting into rubber. Really sad and maybe you just had an off day but I honestly couldn’t imagine messing up a rack that badly if I was trying to. Unacceptable given the prices you charge. Everything else was satisfactory. Not great and definitely not worth the prices charged. But it was decent. The ribs however were so appalling, combined with the fact of everything being way overpriced for what it is, honestly I don’t think I will even give this place another try. I would seriously not be able to charge people that much for the ribs you provided with a straight face. That is just embarrassing guys.

We have eaten there soon after they opened several years ago and were very pleased. what happened. They bar-b-que had no smokey taste and was full of fat. the "smokey" potatoes were soggy and tasteless as well. even the sauce was watery. Everything was lukewarm. A peak into the kitchen revealed that the guy preping our food was not wearing a mask at all! Never again.

This cannot be called BBQ unless it’s your first trip south on I81 and you never had any before. Admittedly, I’m a North Carolina BBQ snob, but this place gives our fine southern cuisine a sad — if not bad — name. Six of us dined, despite two going in reluctantly, having been before. They were right. The brisket has way too much gristle and the pork is dry. Ribs were clearly not of the best quality when the cooking process began and the limp, chewy result was inevitable. Beans taste like they came out of a tin can. I don’t eat chicken tenders so cannot comment. Hush puppies are the best thing on the menu. If you’re popping off the interstate to grab something, okay. But please don’t judge southern BBQ based on this place.

We stopped at Due South for dinner while traveling along 81. It's a very casual place that has live music from time to time. It appears that most of the business is take out as the dining area was almost empty. Orders are taken at the register and food is brought to the tables.
We both had pork sandwiches, which were good but not great. There was a nice portion of meat that was tender but a little dry. The sauces helped. The sides were good, especially the banana pudding.
The staff were very nice.

On December 2, 2021, I went to Due South Pit Cooked BBQ in Christiansburg, VA to get a jumbo pull pork sandwich with two sides. The sides I chose were baked beans and Mac & Cheese.
The pull pork had a lot of hard black pieces that I couldn’t eat. The pork that wasn’t hard was tasty. The baked beans had too many kidney beans which I’m not able to eat because of my gout issues. The Mac & Cheese was good.
Getting a excellent meal from this restaurant varies on several subjects. The main one is who is working in the kitchen.

My friends and I eat at Due South BBQ all the time it is very good! Always a great choice when looking for a place for dinner, you will be glad you found this place. It's worth stopping by and getting anything on the menu. It is southern cooking at its finest, all of the fixings and BBQ are always a great choice. Compliments to the owners for having such an amazing restaurant in Christiansburg.

Great find as we travel through to Tennessee. We each had the special of a 4oz BBQ sandwich with a side and hush puppies. The meat was super tender and delicious. Perfectly cooked. Coleslaw was fresh and tasty. Hush puppies found that elusive balance of crispy on the outside while staying softer on the inside.
Service was excellent and very friendly, Food came out fast and hot.
Worth the extra drive from 81 past all the chains.

Awesome place for anyone and especially travelers looking for REAL food! I ordered the number 3 special with no bun and their sauce. If you have a pup there are free pig ears with your meal. Staff was happy to be there which was displayed in their service. Would go back anytime.

Due South BBQ is an average BBQ joint. Their BBQ sauces were on the thin side and somewhat bland. I ordered the 1/2 chicken meal and expected the chicken to be roasted but it was deep fat fried, which was very unfortunate that this was not specified on the menu. However, the chicken was tasty if you go for fried foods.
Other than the fried food, the place was decent.
