We are from out-of-town; I’m here with my husband who’s here for business. I have celiac disease, so eating out, especially in an unfamiliar area or restaurant is always risky. But Megan took great care of us here; she caught that the tortilla chips that...were served with a “gluten friendly” meal were, in fact, prepared in the same oil as other items, so she saved me from getting sick. Our meals were delicious, and the portions were generous while being fairly priced. I highly recommend the Black Pelican.More

This was my 4th trip to Black Pelican and I have to say I was impressed yet again. We went Saturday night for dinner after an afternoon movie. We arrived at 7pm and there was plenty of parking. The waitstaff was warm, welcoming and attentive....They had a Saxophone player when we first walked in - playing beautiful-peaceful music. It was a very enjoyable atmosphere. For dinner my table had ordered the Fried catfish, the most amazing Grouper and the chef’s specialty pasta. All the dinners were delicious & temperature was spot on. I totally recommend the Grouper which is a light fish and comes with deliciously seasoned Brussel Sprouts. I also had tried the Chef’s Specialty Pasta - AMAZING! The pasta had a Sun-dried tomato Alfredo sauce with Steak, Shrimp and Scallops- Yummy! It was cooked perfectly and had some delicious veggies in it such as yellow squash, zucchini and spinach. I really liked it a lot. My guest had the fried catfish and said it was tasty and a big portion. I never liked catfish to eat but they said it was delicious. Black Pelican has never disappointed me - I will remain a loyal customer. You can’t ask for better staff or more delicious seafood.More

Got an excellent meal here on Sunday. I had the shrimp basket which was great. The lunch menu is priced very reasonably. Service was fast and friendly.

We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday. Loved the atmosphere and the people there were super friendly without trying too hard. Our meals were beautifully presented and delicious. And the prices were so reasonable for what we had. I can't wait to go...back. I wish it was closer so we could take advantage of the happy hour! Highly recommend.More

First I would suggest a reservation. We called prior to arrival and the young lady said she had three tables left and was willing to hold one for us. Upon arrival we were quickly seated and a very nice waitress came to take our drink...order. We ordered chicken wings, crab ragoons, Popeyes salad with chicken and First flight. Everything was awesome!! Food and service were great. I would highly recommend if you are in the area that you try this place.More

This is our 2nd visit to Black Pelican. Celebrating a Birthday. The area outside of the restaurant was very unkept. Lots of trash and shrubs in need of attention. We were seated and the staff were very helpful and attentive. I found the restaurant to...be very dirty the partitions were dusty and bathrooms needed attention. The food was OK Would I come again? To many wonderful restaurants close by to return.More

Sunday, 15 May 2022. This was our first visit (first visit was the food was not well prepared and over priced) in about 6 years. We'd been advised that there had been significant menu changes and were looking for an enjoyable meal with great company....Company was great but food was a Big disappointment. There we two servers for our group of approx. 30 people and they did a great job. Timely ordering of before dinner beverage, placing food orders was timely and efficient as well as removing dishes after dinner. Meals, fried soft shell crab , extremely salty. Seafood Pasta, the pasta was under cooked and stuck/lumped together- sea scallops were very good, lump crab OK. Both had a cup of crab soup which was extremely salty, wife unable to eat--brought home diluted with milk and was edible. We will not be going back. Again, food was grossly over priced.More

Group dinner, had the shrimp & grits - very savory and not the traditional version I am accustomed to - they were ok. Colleagues had the tuna, ribs and pizzas and were pleased. Service was good, accurate but a tad slow. Cocktails were very good...but very limited craft and domestic beer selection. Good atmosphere and clean.More

First time there. Plenty of parking and restaurant was clean. Employees friend. Great food. Only ask would be the server came back to get order in a timely manner as took a while to put in order after she brought the drinks but other than...that, really enjoyed it. Will be back again when in the area.More

I have been to Black Pelican several times but today was disappointing. I knew that we would probably have to wait since it was lunchtime which was no problem. As we waited our turn, two women came in and was told that they had a...20 minute wait. It appears that the woman was a frequent flyer because she precedes to try and talk the hostess to seat her. We saw her talking to other staff members. Well, the hostess didn't have to seat her because the woman sat herself. We let the hostess know that we saw the lady seat herself and that we did not think that it was right. Here is the problem. The hostess began to tell a lie and stated the lady called ahead. We had already heard the conversation and the lady did not want to wait 20 minutes, so we call the hostess out on the lie. Because we caught her in the lie, she then goes on to say that she didn't seat the lady because she had not given her any menus. Today was the day that I had to face old white privilege and the young white hostess preferred to lie instead of taking a stand. We left when we saw the hostess appearing to tell her side of the story to another staff member. Some things can be overlooked but lying is not one of them. Black Pelican integrity is everything.More

It’s Chesapeake Restaurant Week so we decided to dine at the Black Pelican at Greenbrier. They’re offering a 3 course dinner for $30, great deal on delicious food! They also have 8 entree choices which never happens for Restaurant Week, definitely something for everyone! Hubs...ordered the tuna and it was scrumptious along with the soup and key lime pie! I had the pecan crusted Mahi with yummy sweet potatoes and vegetable medley along with the garden salad and coconut cream pie, so good! They have a fun festive drink menu for October including witches brew, black magic and several others. Out of the 3 we tried the black magic was the best! Our server was very good and did well with suggestions when we inquired. Next time I’ll order the fried flounder with shrimp, it looked beautiful, saw it delivered to another table!More

We were a group of 14 adults who arrived around noon and we had a reservation. We were ushered into a private room where we waited for at least 25 minutes before someone came to ask for our drink order. Then we waited for another...20 minutes without even a glass of water. Our drink orders were not complicated - mostly water and iced tea with a couple of sodas. Then we waited again for a long time before the waiter took our orders. All in all we were there for at least 2 and a half hours. The restaurant was not particulary busy at the time and this is unaccaptable.More

After leaving a nearby restaurant where the hostess was less than friendly. As out of state travelers, we walked into the black pelican. I asked the hostess if outdoor seating were an option. She replied "this area is full but may I offer you a...table by a window?" This warmed my heart because she understood that my mother was vision impaired and needed plenty of light to see her meal. The staff were all great from the door! The Hostess to the servers. I will return next time I am in town. Although the food was a tad on the pricier side it was well worth it. Thank you all!More
