Let me start with, I am the biggest foodie and will only eat food that’s 10/10. That said, This is the best cafe in town! The food was AMAZING! While visiting Charlottesville, we came here for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and coffee/tea. We tried so many...dishes and everything was 10/10! So tasty and beautifully presented. My personal favorites were: chicken/potato hash, chicken sandwich, Benedict, and quiche. All of their freshly baked pastries were on another level 🤤🤤🤤. The coffee is 10/10 too. It’s locally roasted and so so good! Staff is very friendly, food came out quick and hot, everything is very reasonably priced. I would most definitely recommend Oakhurst cafe for breakfast, lunch, brunch, coffee!More

It used to get good reviews, but, as you will see, not recently. For good reason. Overpriced and misleading menu, selling regular pink and flaky salmon with smokey taste as "smoked salmon" and tiny mimosas with barely any or certainly flat champagne for $15. The...top it off: probably the rudest service I have had in C-ville, with 2 young ladies with an attitude that made my friend warn me not to even bother giving feedback. She was right. Problems appear when you arrive, Sunday morning with a reservation, where you are asked to wait to be seated but the person seating you is also in charge of making coffees and will continue to fill orders before they seat you. We all understand restaurants being understaffed (they have two servers for the place), but if that is so, and you have a number of open tables, if you are mindful of your customers, you just tell them to seat themselves. You don't keep them standing by the entrance for 15 minutes when the tables are ready. The waitress eventually arrives and of the 2 available tables for 2 people (there are more for bigger parties), there is one by the window and one in the passageway, dark and tight against a wall. Which one does she takes us to? The dark one of course. At least she agrees to seat us by the window when I ask. We order 2 mimosas, which is meant to have champagne. I could not taste the alcohol nor could my friend. Supposed to be 50-50. There was no carbonation there either. $15 for a tiny flute glass of orange juice, with barely any alcohol. Then we ordered the Avocado Toast that is meant to have smoked salmon. Instead it has cooked salmon, pink and flaky, like a mushy spread, with a smokey taste (which can come from liquid smoke). Smoked salmon, whether thinly sliced or in filets, is dark orange, like burnt orange. You'll see that if you google it. Pink flakes is what you get from normal cooked salmon. My friend said she thought it was from a can. The avocado was pureed and watery and the whole thing was drizzled with super acidic, undiluted vinegar. With tip, $35. Unacceptable. Food took quite some time. The waitress accepted feedback about the vinegar. But when I went to the front to check the menu about whether it was advertised as smoked salmon, I was met by the rudest response. The woman was clearly bored and contemptuous. She dismissed my point by saying "You mean lox." Ie I did not know what I was talking about. In fact, lox is brined salmon, which is not normally smoked (you can check on google). Looks like smoked salmon but is not. They did not feel apologetic, show any inclination to address the concern, nothing. She was also projecting her ignorance. She literally looked annoyed. The other waitress came along and claimed her friend was fine, her face, apparently, was always that way (contemptuous and bored). Even if her face is like that, when you're in the service business, you need to adjust. Instead, apparently, *I* was rude! They had concluded that "from the beginning," one said, because I had the audacity to press about being seated after seeing coffee orders at the bar having precedence over us. As my (American) friend came up and said, "Let's go, I told you it was pointless" (as she had), I pointed out to the two young ladies that Americans would simply not bother tell them to their face what was wrong. The response? "Our customers are not American." It's a hotel, you see. So there you have it. The place did not use to be that way. A shame. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g57592-d6848189-r888390043-Oakhurst_Inn_Cafe_Espresso_Bar-Charlottesville_Virginia.html#More

good place for breakfast. opens at 8am. we didn't have a reservation, but some folks did - so you might want to call ahead or have the front desk do it for you.

My daughter and I had breakfast here. She had the chocolate espresso pancakes and devoured them. I had a yummy breakfast sandwich and a very good cup of coffee. Service was great and the place is cute with a happy buzz.

This little gem is perfect for a low key Sunday brunch! The coffee, the avocado toast and the fried plantains were out of this world. The ladies who work there are super friendly and the service was great! I enjoyed every minute of my Sunday...brunch there! I highly recommend it! I will definitely go back the next time I am in C'Ville!More

Overall, I thought the atmosphere and the food were acceptable, but would probably look for something that had larger portions or lower prices. This place was average Charlottesville - expensive and mediocre. I visited the Oakhurst Inn Cafe with my friend who was visiting from...out of state. The property is very pretty and tucked away. The patio was sheltered and cozy. The tables were arranged in a socially distanced manner. We started with a cappuccino and a mimosa, both of which were excellent. I had the avocado toast and my friend had the breakfast wrap. My avocado toast was small but delicious. The breakfast wrap was messy and mediocre. Our total was about $75 (after tip) with two coffees, two mimosas, and two entrees.More

The Cafe and Espresso Bar at Oakhurst inn is a lovely place to have a quick breakfast with a great cup of coffee. Sit on the outside patio and enjoy a garden-like experience.

Food is fine, waitstaff is kind. Ownership unwelcoming. Hard to park there. The ceilings were leaking from the A/C unit in the room upstairs last time I went.
