In what appears to be an old timey service station is a perfect spot to grab lunch in between visiting Monticello and some of the local vineyards. Food is delicious and FRESH! Not a lot of seating and no restrooms....but well worth it!

Wife and I split a sandwich, which was very good, but it was nice that we were not too hungry. Very nice folks working here. Only negative is no restroom facilities. They recommended going to the winery just down the road. We would stop here again - if we weren't too hungry.

Saw this advertised in one of the tourist brochures and liked the sound of it. Just down the road from Monticello and 50m from Jefferson's Vineyard. So glad we had lunch there and avoided the crowds at Monticello. Excellent cheeses, with a baguette to match any we've eaten in France. Served with pickles and toasts. Enough for both of us... More

Ordered delicious sandwiches to take with us to nearby Jefferson Vineyards. I had the ham with Brie, arugula and peach chutney. The star of the sandwich was the soft baguette on which it was served. All ingredients were fresh and so good. My husband's craft sandwich with kimchi and lamb sausage was also delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. We... More

This is a tiny place, with only two indoor tables and a smattering of outside tables. Good organic and I assume vegan food also available. We took ours "to go," and ate it at a picnic table at nearby Ashlawn-Highlands.

We stopped here twice this year so far while visiting Charlottesville area wineries. While many of the wineries also offer food, we found the menu and food at Salt much more interesting - and reasonable. The sandwiches offered were interesting combinations served on first rate breads. My husband ordered the three cheese grilled cheese sandwich both times, and raved about... More

The wonderfully energetic and passionate ladies at this fabulous little place do incredible work with sandwiches. The baguettes are excellent and their sandwich creations are interesting and delicious. My better half chose a special fennel sausage creation, served hot, and I went with a wonderful spinach, brie and bacon that was simply delicious. They have some nice tables indoors and... More

Inside and out, this is a simple deli café with limited seating...HOWEVER, the sandwiches were out of this world! *** Very tasty to the last bite. *** We ordered and split two HOT sandwiches. One sandwich was like a vegetarian with tomato's, greens, and mozzarella with a sauce. The second sandwich as some combination of chicken, cheese, and vegetables. We... More

This place is so adorable and the food is great too. All of the area wineries have beautiful, scenic areas to enjoy a picnic and this place is the perfect spot to grab your food. They even make up a seasonal cheese and charcuterie board. And if you are not visiting wineries, they have some tables out front to enjoy... More

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Jefferson Winery-great choice. The sandwiches were delicious and filling but not overwhelming. Locally grown food (always a plus) and very friendly staff. The snickerdoodles are a must.
