Been here 3 times. 2 nice visits 1 poor(waitress was off the rails). The one-eyed doodle burger is the best I’ve had in a lot g time. Not overly crazy just a good burger. Potato salad was better thN my maw Mae’s burger
When we entered there were many empty tables marked ‘reserved’. We sat down and got out drinks right away. We had over an hour before our scheduled paid tour at Monticello and figured we had plenty of time to eat. After almost an hour’s wait...we really had to leave. We left money on the table for our drinks and a tip for our waitress. Another waitress told me our food was coming up next but we would not have had time to eat and get to our tour.
People that we saw eating seemed to enjoy their food. No one was irate with the long wait. Perhaps this is what works for the locals, it just did not work in our time frame.More
Doodles Diner serves fresh, delicious food - breakfast all day, many different sandwiches and salads, and full dinners as well. Omelettes are great, sweet potato fries are amazing, fresh fruit cups are wonderful and available as a side to the sandwiches. The owner, Doodle, is...often there, and the staff that works with her is extremely friendly and helpful. They always seem happy to customize an order if needed as well. It's not a fancy place, but it is friendly and efficient and the food is great! Prices are excellent too. Give it a try!More
The food was fine, not great, maybe not worth the price (which as a little high for a diner) but fine. We walked in at 1PM for lunch. Doodles was maybe 40% full. We place our orders immediately and received our drinks in a couple...of minutes. And then we waited an hour and ten minutes for our food to come. it wasn't just us. All the tables had the same problem. We just stared at each other in disbelief. One table got up and walked out after waiting an hour. I wanted to do the same, but we were all starving and since we were from out of town, we didn't know where else to go. Not sure what was up. There were at least five people working and there couldn't have been for than ten tables full.More
We have been to Doodle's multiple times now and are ALWAYS treated like family, served delicious hearty meals in a nice atmosphere by a family who appreciates and treasures us. If you are in the area, my family whole-heartedly recommends you stop by Doodle's and...enjoy a nice Diner style family meal.More
Visiting family Poppops favorite lunch spot. Really good homemade deserts like mom would make. Small friendly spot. My son had breakfast while we had lunch Poppop had asparagus quiche he said was very good.
Family dinner here on a cold night. Decent burgers were served on grilled buns, with lettuce/tomato, mayonnaise, nice quantity of bacon. Onion rings were standard fare. Mac and cheese is super creamy.....maybe too creamy (and lacking in essential “cheesiness”). The green beans were over cooked...and salty but they reminded my wife of her Mom’s. The diner interior is no-frills, waitress was friendly and earnestly tried to do a good job of service. Dinner for 5 (with 4 of us drinking water) was $69.40 before tip.More
Doddles is as down to earth as you can get in C'ville: some booths and tables and a good diner menu. We were there for a brunch and they did the eggs right, the homefries just fine, and great coffee. I'd go back.
We finally got to try this place, and the reason I say that is that their opening hours aren't what you might expect. It looks like a breakfast type place, but they don't open until 11am. I saw they had a sign out with new...opening hours, so check that out before you visit. That said, it's a great little place. The menu was good. The day we were there they had 2 specials and 4 soups. One of the specials was a asparagus and crab quiche that my husband said was really good. I went with a cheeseburger, which had a good flavor. The service was very good, friendly. The place looked clean, and the restroom was decorated with plaques with inspirational sayings. When we paid our bill, I noticed a refrigerated cabinet with lots of kinds of cakes and pies, all made in house. This place is definitely worth a visit.More
Like me, you may be lured to try other diner locations in the area, but this is not to be missed. Simple, laid back, quality fare at a decent price. Ham and eggs breakfast was amazing; biscuits are homemade. Service is quick and friendly. Awesome...selection of fresh desserts. No frills, no crazy decorations, just simply good.More
