My 1st time here and found the service to be very friendly and quick. The Beef and Broccoli was served very hot and quite flavorful. I do enjoy a bit of spiciness, so I ordered mine as a #2, the next time I would try the 3. Overall, very happy and satisfied.

Best Chinese food and service in Northern Virginia

I've been coming to Cheng's for a long time, and it never ceases to amaze me how this place gets better year after year. Many places start out great, but then the service and food quality go downhill as they get complacent with how things are going. Cheng's is the complete opposite. My wife and I look forward to each and every visit because we know the service will be great and the food will be even better. My wife is from China, and I have visited China multiple times and eaten at more Chinese restaurants in China then you can imagine. I know what good Chinese food tastes like. When it comes to Chinese food, this place is the best. Louis takes care of all customers like they are part of his family and strives to make everyone's experience great. If you eat here once, you'll keep coming back time after time because other Chinese restaurants can't compare to Cheng's Asian House when it comes to great service and awesome food.

Really good food.

I really enjoyed dinner at Cheng's Asian House, the food was outstanding. My son and I both enjoyed what we had ordered. The service was friendly and very attentive. The restaurant was busy, yet our dinner was delivered to us in a timely manner and the staff continued to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. I have been to this restaurant twice and it was a nice experience both times.

This time the food was bad. 👎

Went there in May and had some really GOOD food and a pleasant server attending our table. Today however, was a polar opposite experience, the food was bad, super oily/greasy with no real flavours. The person taking the order, could understand very little English and had no patience in taking down the order, hence getting it wrong. May be their main cook has an off on Thursdays.

Ordered take out on a Thursday afternoon. No fortune cookies or utensils. The steamed dumplings were water logged. The general’s Tso chicken was tough. The lo mien chicken was very bland. Won’t be going back.

Order a variety and share! We came with a party of 7 during a busy time - the food came out fast, hot, and delicious. Do splurge and get the bananas foster - a great show tableside!

My tastebuds were delighted

I decided to eat here on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews. Glad that I did. I had the Spicy Garlic with Chicken. That dish was popping with the right amount of heat and loads of flavor. The portion size is plentiful. I also had a Suffering Bastard. What a delicious rum-based drink! Can’t wait to get home to make it.

Used Door Dash to receive delivery of General Tso's Chicken. The meal was good, although missing soy sauce for the rice and no utensils or napkins at all.

Horrible, looks like they picked up the ingredients from trash and cooked. The chicken was rubbery and tasted really bad. we ate a little and ended up throwing the food away.

I realize writing a positive review is subjective, but having been to Cheng’s Asian House several times I can say with confidence it is an excellent Chinese restaurant. In fairness I did not try all their dishes – perhaps only about 10 or so including appetizers, but what I had so far was excellent and comparable to great food I had in Beijing and Hong Kong. In other words, the food is not doused with thick and overpowering sauces often seen in US greasy spoon restaurants and food courts. The good: Excellent food, tasty and not overpowering with salt, sugar, and whatever other ingredients so many Chinese restaurants use which mask the taste. The owner (I assume it’s the owner) walks around for quality control and ensures customers are taken care of. He knows most of the customers and greets them which clearly indicates repeat customers. The bad: I believe the food is freshly prepared (as opposed to scooping the pre-made food from a big container and slapping it on a plate 'fast food' style), and therefore it takes a while for your order to arrive at your table. Be patient; it’s worth the wait (I can see why some customers would be dissatisfied with the wait). The place is small and unassuming, and fills up quickly. Call ahead for a reservation, or be prepared to wait in line. Highly recommended!

I ordered takeout on a Saturday. Arriving exactly at the time they had confirmed via Google, I had to wait another 30 minutes because she was preparing a large take out order. Turns out my order was already complete and waiting, she just didn't get to process it, even though I had checked with her. Needless to say the 'crispy' items were mushy by the time we got to enjoy them. Fried rice, Miso soup as well as the crispy beef were too salty for our taste. The restaurant might be ok for locals during the week, but on the weekend I would not recommend it. Even though they are rushing like on a train station, they seem to bite of regularly much more than they can chew. At the expense of our dinner.

We had a pleasant meal at Cheng’s. The menu is extensive, the service is prompt and attentive, the vegetables are fresh and the portions are large. It was a solid and satisfactory dining experience, but nothing exceptional. They serve beer, wine and a goodly number of mixed drinks.

Very good Chinese food

Very good authentic Chinese food in the back of a strip mall/shopping center. We’ve had two meals here, both were quite good. In addition to the a wide variety of well prepared Chinese options, the table-side flaming desert preparation is quite a show, great to entertain kids for a special occasion. Normally I’d steer clear something like this, but they still pay close attention to main dishes, noodle soups, and appetizers, so the show doesn’t distract from the cooking.

We have now been here 3 or 4 times. The food is okay. Try the sesame chicken. Fried rice was average at best. Not very thrilled with the booths or tables.

Pleasantly surprised

My husband and I traveled to VA from NY for a surprise birthday party. We were to meet up for dinner the night before with my cousin and her husband. She suggested Cheng’s, partly based on reviews she had read, partly because Chinese is her husband’s favorite. I thought it was an odd choice; I know they are foodies, and we can get good Chinese food any time we want on LI, but we just wanted to get together so it didn’t matter to us. Turns out it was the best Chinese food I’ve had. We each ordered a dish in four different categories. Mine was seafood and I chose well- the crunchy shrimp with honey walnuts was to die for! Everything was delicious. We topped off our meal with tableside-flambied cherries jubilee, prepared by the owner, who was happy to give us a little background on his business. The place was empty when we walked in at 6:30 on a Friday night, and packed by the time we left. And they do a great take-out business as well. Wish we lived closer!
