The new owners have gotten their feet wet, and have fixed any service issues that some may have experienced (slow service, etc). You feel welcomed by all and the food is fresh! Great gathering spot.

The best seafood in Smithfield. The food is worth the wait. The atmosphere is very authentic for being right on the water. The wait staff was very friendly. A definite return visit.

We've frequented the Captain's for many years, and it is one of my favorite places to eat. Rescue is a great little town in Isle of Wight County, and the restaurant sits right on the water of Jone's creek - near the confluence with the Pagan and James rivers. The scene is casual, the food is very good, and the... More

Although the location on the water was quaint and reminded us of home along the east coast beaches, we were dissapointed with everything else. 3 hours in a place which was not that big to begin with, made for a long night. The wait was long, the food description on the menu was more exciting than the food itself. Nothing... More

The crab soup was very tasty and the place is in a great spot (right on the water). We both had the surf and turf. The wife had crab cake and fillet, and I had the shrimp and ribeye. The ribeye was a $4.00 more charge, but the fillet was much better. The steaks were cooked over charcoal and had... More

Located on a little harbor with oudoor seating, this restaurant really earns its stars. I have eaten there a couple times and the service is consistently great. They also run a little gift shop that is only open in the evening.

A little difficult to find but worth the effort. Great hushpuppies! Perhaps 5 miles from Smithfield and right on a small fishing fleet harbor.

The new owners Brook & David have made all the difference! Finally a friendly atmosphere. Very welcoming. Food is great especially the She Crab Soup, oysters, hush puppies, and shrimp whether fried or steamed.

I would go back again. Great service (better than many high end restaurants) and the food was tasty. The seafood was fresh and the Unisex Crab Soup is worth the trip. Music was a little loud, so conversation was hard, but the food was worth the trip.

Food is a little spicy and way salty! swelled up like a toad the next day!!! Good selection of seafood, but broke a tooth on a "pearl" in the oysters.
