The servers really hustle in this restaurant. We visited on a busy Friday night. We were seated quickly and the food was quite good. This seemed like the place for students to hang out, lively, but not rowdy.

Went with family. Reasonable spot, absolutely nothing special. Tacos best, cheese enchiladas second. Service good, overall middle of road nothing special. Daily specials looked like best reason to try this spot.

The food here is very good for a Mexican restaurant in Virginia. Is it the best I ever had? No, but it was very tasty and flavorful. The prices were very low for the quality and quantity of food they serve. I don't recall seeing an entree over $10-$12. They have a bar area which serves very large drinks such... More

My VA Tech daughter took me here when I visited, knowing that I liked Mexican food. Well, the food was indeed good but what I didn't expect was the delicious Margarita. It was HUGE - one fueled me for the rest of the PM. Beware, however, you will need a DD if you drink one!

My son graduated from Radford University, and later that evening, 11 of us went to El Rodeo for dinner. The food was excellent. The wait staff was outstanding, and everyone's order was correct and brought to the table fairly quickly. I paid for the entire group, and the total bill was very reasonable, considering most in the group did have... More

Food was good - service was quick - typical lunch menu for a mexican restaurant - had the lunch mixed fajitas - great flavor - good portion

I can order the same or very similar item each time and be pleased! And this is what I usually do because I rely on this consistency.

Visited El Rod's for St Patrick's Day and sat at the bar for Margaritas. The bar area is not large, but the Margaritas are top notch and the tables and places to sit make it perfect for groups

It's not easy to mess up Tex-Mex, but El Rodeo manages to do it. Food is bland and served room temperature and the salsa tastes like canned tomatoes. The only reason this gets two stars is because it's marginally better than the abomination that is the North Main Street El Rodeo.

"Average," is OK. We were a party of nine and everything went as expected; decent service, no unwanted food surprises, easy no-charge substitution of guacamole salad instead of rice & beans on one item. I'm a chiles rellenos fan, and the two I had (battered and fried, the only kind they offered) were just fine.
