This visit was for our 50th Anniversary, with a thoughtful gift certificate for $150.00 from our son and daughter-in-law. We had a nice table overlooking the falls...that and the drinks were the only good things about the visit. We ordered Korean Meatballs to share as...an appetizer - hard as a rock and dry as a bone! When I told the waitress how dry they were, she just shrugged and said she would "mention" it to the kitchen. Never got rolls/ butter...don't even know if we were supposed to. My Husband ordered ceasar salad...never got it. He ordered a 28 day dry aged strip steak medium ($44.00) on special. I ordered lobster and shrimp scampi ($34.00) with a side of broccolini ($6.00) which came cold. When his steak came it was well beyond medium... nothing less than well done. When the waitress appeared and asked how things were, we complained about the temperature of the steak. She informed us that because it was dry aged it looked different but would taste medium....not so, again dry as a bone. When she came back to ask if we wanted anything else, she couldn't have cared less... and she smiled and said she would tell the kitchen. The cook staff, waitress and, I guess, management are all sub par. We will not bother to spend our's or anyone else's money there. There are plenty of better restaurants nearby. Save your time and money, eat anywhere else!More

Food was very good. Service marginal. Arrived 8 mins before reservation and were directed to wait on sofa until closer to our reservation time. Apps appeared before drinks (wine); entrees appeared 10 minutes later before we had chance to finish app. Accompaning salad was undressed....Completed meal and asked if we wanted another wine, which we did. After wine was served we were presented our bill without inquiring if we wanted desert; which we did. Overall felt very rushed.More

We came here for dinner with family. The setting overlooking the falls on the river were beautiful. The menu had quite a diverse selection that could accommodate everyone's tastes. I settled for lobster & scampi pasta while my wife opted for the duck confit. Both...dishes were excellent. They also offer a reasonably priced wine list.Certinly a place well worth returning to!More

Beautiful setting. However, we were not happy with our meal and experience. My Cesar salad barely had any dressing and no fresh lemon. The chicken tasted processed, salty and not fresh. My husband’s gnocchi was so greasy with oil he didn’t finish it. I saw...other tables with what looked like complimentary fresh bread but we were not offered any. Then we were asked to leave right after we paid our bill (we were still visiting and two of us hadn’t finished our beers!!) because other people were waiting for a table. There were empty tables around us. I have never in my dining experience been asked to leave early. That would not fly in Europe.More

My husband and I ate here on Sept 30th for dinner. Unfortunately, my husband was not feeling that well so he just ordered two small appetizers, (the Korean Meatballs, which he said were delicious, and the Brussel Sprouts which he only ate half.) I had...the New England Scallops which were delicious but a bit pricey. The service was very good and so was the décor. If I were ever in the Burlington area, I would go back, I doubt my husband would.More

30 years ago to the day, we hosted a wedding brunch at Waterworks. 30 years later we enjoyed what will be a beautiful memory in the way of our anniversary dinner. The seared scallops were delicious ( a tad too salty) but just fantastic overall....My wife’s pork dish was prepared perfectly. Maleek ( dressed in vintage style Chickenbone T-Shirt, legendary Burlington night spot) was kind, courteous, well versed in menu knowledge and a joy to have as our server. The improvements made to this establishment over the last five years under the current ownership are just remarkable. A warm, comfortable place to enjoy dressed in casual or uptown attire. We look forward to returning soon.More

Hubby & I brought our out-of-town guests here. Four of us had dinner here on the outside deck. The wait staff was very accommodating, being sure we weren't too hot or too cold. They had some portable heaters that they offered to adjust to our...liking. We had drinks and dinner here. When I asked about an unusual cider and asked the waitress which of two ciders she would recommend, she offered to bring me a sample of each! For dinner, two of us ordered entrees (a burger plate & the salmon pesto gnocchi) and the other two ordered a variety of appetizers & side orders (wedge salad, Korean meatballs, clam chowder, brussel sprouts, potstickers). All of us agreed our food was excellent and we really enjoyed the atmosphere, eating on the Winooski River. We recommend Waterworks and will likely come back here later this month when we have more out of town company visiting.More

A friend in Essex Vt took us to Waterworks and the ambiance, food and service were outstanding. It has a very relaxing atmosphere with a soothing view of the Winooski River. However, I was taken back after receiving the bill. Prices were higher than what...I’m use to but very fair considering the excellent food. But the subtotal fees were a shock. There is a 3% kitchen service fee, meals and rooms tax, alcohol tax, beverage tax and city tax. Total taxes and fees equaled $18. I also tipped the waiter 20%. So spent about $50 before adding the food and drink. Vermont likes to tax everything!More

Sadly I’ve been to Waterworks the last 26 years and always enjoyed it. This was not a great experience. The clam chowder was tasteless, the Boston strip steak was tough, the summer salad had wilted lettuce and the ends had not been cut (they were...brown). The young man who served us was very nice - Bennett and did a great job.More

It’s a busy, noisy barn of a place hung over the Winooski River with spectacular views of the flowing water. Food is standards like steak frites and salads, competent but not touched by any flourishes. They make a fine Manhattan cicktail

Attended with a group of 10 and had great seats with the river view. Very nice selection of appetizers, definitely get the maple glazed brussel sprouts (they were amazing). Nice selection of drinks and entrees, and the size of the entrees were reasonable (not like...some restaurants that give you too much food). Overall very nice experience.More

We enjoyed Waterworks. We dined on a Saturday evening and it was crowded and very noisy. Fortunately, the food and service were very good. We enjoyed our strip steaks and burgers. Casual and reasonably priced.

Waterworks is a great place for a special occasion, for a date, for celebrations. The location, ambiance, service, food, and drinks are impeccable. Make sure to make your reservations in advance as they fill up fast and it's difficult to get a table at the...last minute. Everything served here is delicious and of high quality including their list of yummy cocktails. This is a must visit restaurant in the Burlington area.More
