We had a really bad experience with the hostess and the place never recovered for us. We checked in early for our reservation, were told they were just getting our table on the patio near the water ready and then forgot us. They gave away...our table tried to seat us inside and then put us on the patio as far away from the water as possible. Without the view, the restaurant is nothing special and without the breeze from the water the gnats were pretty bad by the time we were done. The food is fine, the cocktails were fine, the atmosphere is loud, the kitchen was very slow (despite the extra 3% “kitchen tax”). Our server was lovely - none of the rest was his fault - but it was an expensive meal and not really worth it. Also note - when you follow their signs for parking, it directs you to a lot across the street that YOU pay for. In all, I felt kind of scammed.More

Every time I go it gets better. Everyone I have taken there have become fans. In my humble opinion they make the perfect Bloody Mary, real, no mix. Meals have all been very good. I and anyone I have recommended WW to have all had...good service. All the staff that have served me were very friendly and accommodating. Great building, great decor, great views, very good food. The room is beautiful, high ceilings, wood and metal. I suggest they introduce some sound deadening acoustics.More

This was the first restaurant we tried during our trip to Vermont, and it was PHENOMENAL. It was pricier than what we normally go for, but it was absolutely worth it. We had veggie pot stickers, the double bacon cheeseburger, garlic fries, peanut butter pie,...and the season pumpkin bourbon cheesecake. Every bite was absolute heaven!!More

Grilled steak w yam puree and broccolini, salad and truffle fried all exceptional. Mid range- 2 dinners plus wine $$$ for just over...$100. Highly recommend.More

We happened to be visiting this area from NH and the reviews for this place seemed good. The place itself looked really neat. A mill type building right along the river. Everyone was friendly from the time we walked in the door. Then the food...came..For a 30 dollar meal you at least expect it to be hot. The rice was cold, the meat was cold and it had no flavor and the little bit it did have tasted really weird. That was just my meal. My fiancé’s meal had hair in it! They did not charge us for the meals when we explained what happened but I felt like they were back and forth. The manager came out and we explained what happened. She apologized (which was good) then went on to say no one has ever complained about this meal before (should have just left it at the apology). I know it was the manager or servers fault the meal was terrible…but don’t make your customers feel bad or embarrassed to say something! We will never go here again. Maybe charge half the price if you are serving meals from 3 days ago that you can’t even heat up correctly.More

We were staying in Winooski for a couple of days and could throw a stone to the Waterworks from where we were staying. We decided to to eat there last Sunday night the 22nd and bring our food back and eat from our own balcony!...We ordered online off a very descriptive menu! My wife ordered a Maria’s Greens and Grain salad which was both tasty and a very good portion! I had the Tuna Pokewhich was delicious and fresh. Once again tastes were great and portion size was more than ample and that included the Tuna. We shared a truffle fries, thank god as it is a person side! Dish with plenty of Parmesan, great fries and subtle application of truffle oil. Good job!! When we arrived there was a couple of functions going on and the decor and location are stunning it is located in an old mill right by the water. The water is spectacular babbling River at that point . A waterfalls noise would have been too intrusive. Our lab had a puppy parfait from the creemee window while they got our order ( we were early) There was also a lot of staff on shift so I think they were anticipating a busy night! We both had lunch the next day from the leftovers. A great place, we will return!More

Dined recently with a party of 4 on a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the Winooski River. Food and atmosphere were fabulous, but I would recommend specifically requesting a waterfront view - they very likely won't be able to accommodate if you make this request upon...arrival. Ordered a couple of appetizers that actually never came, as the food was out first and we asked for the items to not be brought over and removed from the bill. This was somewhat of a bad start, but the restaurant recovered with four wonderful meals. Braised short ribs were a standout. A server who did not wait our table was kind enough to take a picture(without our party asking) with the river as a backdrop. It was very much appreciated. Highly recommend this establishment.More

Waterworks is incredible. It's worth going to for its interior alone. They should truly consider having weddings here if they don't already. I'd love to visit other establishments designed by its restaurant architect just to experience more of their artistry. Most importantly, of course, the...food was amazing. I had the burger--two patties--which of course so many people think is easy, but isn't; in fact I think it's because burgers are so common and simple enough to make decently that it's that much more important to make one set apart from all others. This is that burger--the meat is excellent and the sauce (which probably isn't the right word) is absolutely incredible. Each bite was so pleasant. And to top it off, the fries were phenomenal. We also shared two appetizers, each of which were awesome, and it was great having Lawson's Sip Of Sunshine on draft, too, And there's the view! We happened to get seated at what's probably the best table, in a corner overlooking the river, but if your party is greater than 4, you might get it, too! Finally, our server was perfect: friendly, dependable, knowledgable, efficient, and nice!More

The decor and layout of Waterworks is super hip and trendy. The high ceilings add to the nice ambiance and the views of the water are great. The food is excellent too. The truffle fries are probably the best fries we have ever eaten. My...short rib entree was quite good as well, although we were slightly disappointed with the dessert. The fries definitely made up for it though!More

My husband and I traveled to Burlington for a weekend getaway. A friend recommended we eat at Waterworks because “the view is beautiful and the food is pretty good.” Here are some “minuses “ and “pluses” of our experience. MINUSES... Paid parking in the garage...across the street (silly pet peeve). I made a reservation online two months before our visit. Imagine my disappointment when we were seated at a table in a back corner. No water view. No view at all for me other than of a picture on the wall. We asked the hostess if there were any seats with a water view available and she said there were not. She then suggested that if we ever go there again to be sure to request a water view in the “additional comment” section of the online reservation. The bill included a 3% kitchen tax. We asked our waiter what that was for and he explained that the waitstaff pool their tips and share them but the kitchen staff do not get any tips so the kitchen tax is to give the kitchen staff tips too. I asked if the kitchen staff make minimum wage or more and he said they did and that the tax was just an extra thank you for them. That just didn’t seem right to us - that it’s an extra tax the restaurant did not advertise and just arbitrarily added to our bill. PLUSES... food is excellent. We ordered the chowder, calamari, rice bowl with salmon and the tacos from the specials menu. Chocolate cake and cheesecake for dessert - yum, coffee- eh... service is good and the food comes out fast. Definitely a good meal. If the ambiance is also important, be sure to specifically request a water view when you make your reservation.More

The food here has always been outstanding and I was very impressed with the bar and drink tending. Sparkling pear cider on tap! Wow! Mini pear daquiris out of this world! And un-com-‘pear’-able Chicken wings ( c what I did there..:)!! YUM! The burgers are...dreamy, the hospitality and staff are heavenly, and the music and ambience unforgettable. Spend your time and money on the river. A very happy place❤️Fascinating location. Fabulous decor. It made our 35th anniversary extra special (try a wine to go!) Wow!! Delicious, fun, upbeat, sexy, and food and drink savy.More
