Unique decor and homey setting.
Hubby and I came in for a light lunch during our snowboard trip at Mount Snow.
You place and pay for your order at the front, they will bring the food to you when ready.
We picked a corner table by the window with comfy sofa seating at the back room. The Green Mountain Turkey Sandwich was delicious, and the Beef Chili was tasty too.
It was relaxing and we’d like to come back to eat and chill again.

Ordered two excellent breakfast sandwiches by phone. A bit expensive, but worth it. Fresh, in house made sausage, oozing VT cheddar, i believe the breads were homemade, and they were kind enough to add ketchup, salt and pepper to one. It was a treat.

Stopped for breakfast sandwiches before heading out for a hike. The sandwiches were great, especially loved the bread they came on. The space is bigger than it looks from the outside and there's a big room in the back with tables and a fireplace - we loved the atmosphere! Some of the Wilmington trails start from right down the street, so it's a perfect pre or post hike stop!

This place used to be my family’s “go to” spot in Wilmington, but it’s sadly not what it used to be. The board games are gone, half the food on the menu is “unavailable”, and the waitstaff has become unfriendly and too busy to deal with you. Just the opposite of what we come to VT for. I guess we will be finding a new “go to” spot.

I’d like to take a quick minute to reply to your post. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit small businesses across the country very hard, as you can imagine - and our little valley is sadly no exception.
While you mention in your review how we have “gone downhill,” we are happy just to be existing during these trying times. Several small businesses around town have suffered closures, both temporary and permanent. As we have for the past almost two years, we at the Village Roost will continue to try our best to serve great food, amazing coffee, and a cozy environment for those who need shelter from this storm that we are all in together.
It is unfortunate that some of our signature dishes have been “unavailable” to our patrons as of late; that being said, we are having a hard time getting our suppliers to provide us with the high quality items we require for our menu on a timely basis - the supply chain issue is real, and it hit us hard. We still pride ourselves as providing great ‘made to order’ food, and are doing our best to accommodate the diverse dietary needs of our customers!
We have also been plagued by staff shortages - the national employment crisis has really impacted us here at the Roost! We are running on a skeleton crew, and our staff are quite overworked!
Regarding our board games … you must know that Covid safety protocols have them away for the time being! Can you imagine a patron sneezing or coughing into their hands, and then touching game pieces or cards? Especially a small child? We have no way to sanitize them in between players! Guests are most welcome to bring their own games in for family enjoyment - there is nothing like a board game or a craft to bring a smile to a child’s face.
Finding another “go to” spot might be challenging. While you may think your review helps others in making a decision as to where to eat when they visit Wilmington, it does not consider the heart we put into our small business. We are still not in the clear with this pandemic, and things are not “back to normal” as yet. In the broader scheme of things, we hope that somehow a bit of kindness, patience, and empathy can somehow prevail in these most challenging of times.

In the words of my best friend, “Hands down, the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever eaten.” We ordered the double down: egg, cheese, sausage, bacon, and hash (like crispy hash browns) on a bun. It’s hard to make that kind of classic breakfast sandwich special...and this was a special sandwich. Highly recommended!

I wondered what was all the fuss with the long lines and steady stream of people! I honestly thought this was Starbucks reinvented in Wilmington.
Well, it’s not! It’s better, and it’s a fun place for breakfast, lunch, a quick cup, or just hanging out in the large inviting back room or on the deck.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Loved the Green Mountain sandwich and Falafel burger. The curry fries were delicious. High quality coffee. Nice indoor seating area. This is not a chain-store sandwich shop. The bread is fantastic, the vegetables are fresh, and the sauces are innovative.

What a great stop after snowmobiling all day. Perfect brewed coffee and espresso. Treats were yummy... we stopped for coffee not to eat but it smelled yummy in there.
Must have been the owner that was on my side of the register who took the time to ask how my day was and took interest to listen! The cashier was beyond nice!!!!
Thank you for the welcoming atmosphere.
I will stop here every time up this way
We were lucky enough to find space to for the truck and snowmobile trailer ..only downside of a little town

We stopped for a quick lunch at this delightful spot. Shared an excellent turkey sandwich and I had an iced tea. Food & service were excellent, the restaurant/store is quite clean. I was a bit disappointed that staff weren’t wearing masks but that may not be required in this locale.

Was there for Christmas week. Great variety of food options. Welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Really enjoyed it. Was there with 10 people and plenty of room for our group.

I Have Been Eating Here Since They Opened , Never Had A Bad Experience , Always A Highlight To My Day, Be It Lunch During My Work Day Or Lunch With My Wife, They Are Covid Compliant And They Should Be, As Are Most Places In Our Small Town, The Employees Are Always Friendly, And Cheerful. Cute place to warm up from the low temp. Food, snacks, mini store and a nice loundge in the back with sofas and tables. Cozy and takibg precautious against Covid.

The Village Roost is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is delicious, made with wholesome ingredients and the employees are friendly. The atmosphere is so welcoming, games available for kids and families to play at the tables. The decor is lovely and the bathroom is unbelievable! Would highly recommend!
