Not in The Alps? Go and visit. Nothing even close to the old world Sugarbush Apre Ski experience. Great food, atmosphere difficult to describe other than the place hasn’t changed since I first visited in the 60’s. Bistro down below. Hope it continues to endure.

A delightful restaurant in the heart of Sugarbush village! Fondue, French onion soup, steak au poive in a cozy space - tres bien! Everything was fresh (delicious salads). Steak grilled to perfection. Call ahead for reservations, as it books up quickly.

Steeped in Vermont history, Henri is gone -- passed away this year -- but partner Bernard continues the fine tradition. Step into a French Alpine bistro of the '50s, with zinc bar and booths in the bar area and rear dining room, complete with a burning hearth where fresh-baked bread warms before reaching your table. the cozy bar is wreathed in a wintry twinkle and memories of days before the East Coast glitterati, fashionistas and trend setters became the "jet set" and headed to Vermont's "Mascara Mountain". The pole in the center of the bar room is cloaked in silver lame and mounted with a sign of the young "ski gods" of the '50s, who climbed it in there ski boots -- including Stein Erickson and Jean Claude Killy! - to impress the starlets and fashion models who gathered to acres there. Go! (Food's good too.)

Our mel was good but very small portions for a very high price. My wife had to come back to our condo and cook. For $150 people should at least get a meal where they don’t have to go away hungry. Service was less than spectacular..

Absolutely not family friendly! Do not bring children! Chef came on out of the kitchen to SCREAM across entire dining because one child made one cry for 3 seconds! The child was basically unheard with the natural volume of the restaurant but one complainining waitress to the chef changed the night and our future with the restaurant! The Table next to the child sang Happy Birthday and was scared the chef was going to come out again to yell at them! We will never return after 15 years of going there. Henri passed last fall and God rest his soul, he would've never let chef treat his guests like that!!! Lack of any real management now. Poor waitresses who were all crying with the embarrassed and humiliated Mom. They're humans and Moms unlike the chef who is a snobby, snooty narcissist! we'll never return..... Au revoir pour toujours et repose en paix Chez Henri!

We were looking forward to our dinner at Chez Henri for NYE. It was serviceable, but not a good value for the money. Wife got a salad which was fine and I got a steak tartare appetizer which was mixed tableside.....this was a little odd and while the taste was ok, the appearance was less than appealing (and I'm a tartare fan). Wife's steak entree was ok. I got a special - snapper and scallops in a mushroom/cream sauce. The scallops were tasty, but the snapper was unrecognizable as fish. In a blind taste test, both of us would have guessed overcooked chicken. I know snapper can be firm, but it was simply not good. I ate a few bites and asked the server if it was indeed snapper and she assured me it was. She did offer me a free glass of wine. The waitress was great. She was attentive and took good care of us. Food quality is not her fault. We'd give it another try, probably sticking to steak frites and salads.

We went to Chez Henri after a beautiful day of skiing and we were ready for a lovely light supper. After a friendly greeting by a young man, we were seated promptly at a table. We were then approached by our waiter, an older gentleman with grey hair and a moustache. No smile, no welcome and by the end of the meal no eye contact as he shoved the bill onto the table. He was gruff, rude, impatient and dismissive the entire time. Was he in a rush? Was he upset that we only ordered soup, salad and mussels? His behaviour made my husband and I very uncomfortable and ruined our experience at the restaurant!

Large Family from NYC, read thru reviews and thought ok sounds good but food was terrible. We all left in shock that not one of us had anything tasty. Being from NyC we have expectations but were let down. So sorry to say. Atmosphere is kitschy. Bathrooms very dirty.

Everything was going well until I got my entree. I ordered the Tuna dish and requested that it be med-well. Well, it came completely well done. The lovely server offered to have it re-made but I had already waited a bit longer time and didn't feel like waiting again. So she went off to do her job. The rest of the food and drinks were all fine. But I expected them to maybe comp me the dessert. Nope, nothing was compted and they lost one more customer. I will not return.

I visited midweek in January so the place was kinda quiet. My dinner...the veal .. came up quick. That sauce was amazing.

A booth is recommended and the food is great. Not cheap but to the standard of a French Bistro in a ski town. Timeless and authentic.

Generations of Sugarbush skiers can't wait for winter opening. Dependable bistro food, warm, welcoming bar area with booths and formal dining rooms serving French classic entrees.

We arrived early and were the only ones in the dining room when we started our meal, so service was fast. Greatly enjoyed our meals. Will go back for another visit!
