It is very hard to get a last minute reservation at Plate but a little birdie told us about the long bar next to the dining area. We arrived at early dinner time and found two seats at the bar. This was the best meal...we had in Stowe. The scallop appetizer was perfectly seared and served with parsnip puree, yum! The hanger steak entree was delicious. Most enjouable was the conversation with other folks at the bar and watching the talented bartender present some amazing cocktails. Would love to visit Plate again!More

We had high expectations for The Plate based on previous reviews. They did honor our reservation right on time but we sat down to really blaring and not very good background music. Prices made our eyes pop and we live near New York City and...eat there often. We ordered a scallop starter to share..but only 2 scallops, not creatively prepared for $17? My husband had the burger, only ok and the bun was very dry but my stuffed acorn squash entree was inedible. In truth when I showed the waitress the hard under cooked, rock of a squash and dried filling in it, she asked the kitchen to not charge me, which was great. But I left hungry and annoyed by the loud music and my husband felt ripped off by an overpriced burger.. no French fries or extras either! A bit more value for the money and a little more attention to the details of what’s coming out of the kitchen would make this a much better restaurant.More

AMAZING… from starter to finish. Sam was our waitress and couldn’t have been sweeter. The girls working the hostess desk were very hard workers and very friendly. Fried oysters, kale salad, and hanger steaks were perfect. Flavorful, well plated, perfect portion size. Couldn’t raze enough...about this spot. Not to be missed.More

The food was delicious. Everything was fresh and good quality. The service great. Jen went out of her way to find us a seat at the bar when we were unable to get a table anywhere that evening. Both her and Brian tended to our...every need. Great experience, excellent dinner out.More

I generally do not provide feedback for a less than satisfactory dining experience - online or otherwise - I just avoid patronizing the establishment again. We went for dinner with friends and had such a subpar dinner I felt compelled to share the details. The...2 appetizers were great - venison and mussels - but 3 of the 4 entrees were unacceptable. The 2 Hangar steak dishes were ordered medium well and medium rare and both were delivered cold and rare, including the beans and rice. The portions were small - 3 or 4 little strips of beef - and when it was sent back it was returned luke-warm. The Pork Chop entree was good but the Yucca hash brown was congealed together and difficult to cut through, inedible. Considering the price point for some of the entrees, that is one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time.More

Fantastic from start to finish. We had a variety of apps, split the kale salad and then pasta. Our waitress was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. If you’re in Stowe, this is a must place for dinner. Great job to the kitchen...staff for making our dinner wonderful.More

I called to book a reservation and was informed that vaccine cards are required to eat there. Will not be eating here again.

We made reservations and we were seated promptly. Its fairly small and was very loud inside even without being full. They also had club like music thumping away in the background. It was too much for a small restaurant. We tried the Mussels app but...the mussels were tiny and the portion small. $18 Also we tried the Brine chicken wings and they were undercooked. $16 Next we tried the Squash Curry, it was flavorful but a small portion for $24 We also tried the Salmon entrée, which was alright but again expensive $34 I'm not sure we would return, there are lots of other good options around.More

Plate is an extraordinary restaurant on the main street in Stowe, Vermont. We knew the place was fully booked for dinner and decided to try for a place at the bar. Luck was on our side and two people left the bar just as we...arrived. The two female bartenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They encouraged us to take our time and not to rush to make selections. The chef came out to deliver our food. He was also very friendly and boy, is he talented! The food was superb. I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years and this was the best veggie burger I've ever had. The salads were unique, delicious and huge. We've been visiting this area for decades and Plate is by far the best restaurant we've encountered in Vermont. For dessert, my husband ordered a heavenly banana pudding, which came in a Bell Jar that we were told could be brought home if the dessert was not finished. The restaurant is also very beautiful. Go and enjoy!More

Seriously - you must get the veggie burger because it was THAT good. My husband and daughter also enjoyed a delicious pasta dish and an excellent flank steak. Loved the wine choices. Wish we had known about the kitchen counter seats! And, the banana pudding?!...Have mercy. Just go here and then go back.More

We had a stellar experience at Plate. We were able to get seats at the bar and the bar staff were super friendly and fun. They had cans of the local beer and the wine bottle preserving apparatus so you can have a glass of...a higher end bottle. We were happy with our beer and wine and the cocktails looked delicious, definitely pros at the bar making them. Our food was outstanding. I had the scallops appetizer, it was perfect and just the right size for one person. My partner had the gazpacho, he said best he ever had. Also the burger was the best he ever had and that’s saying something as we estimated he has eaten 2000+ burgers over his life. I had the pork, which was also just right and very delicious. Finished it off with the chocolate donuts, I’m not a big dessert person but these were really good. We would absolutely go back and either sit at the bar again or make a table reservation. Great service, atmosphere, food and drinks, amazing all around.More

Have been here before when the apps menu was more interesting and execution was better. My cucumber dill salad was over salted and the shrimp fettuccine had enough garlic to kill a village of vampires. Lots of chefs these days seem to have forgotten how...to flavor a sauce with a few smashed or slices of garlic instead of a tablespoon of minced - the flavor is imparted, not overwhelming and gives the patron the chance to avoid eating too much of it. Gazpacho was very good though and salmon / risotto was interesting, but banana pudding was the star. Service is usually friendly, but slow when we went - maybe an IT or kitchen issue or both.More
