I recently dined at this cozy Swiss restaurant in downtown Stowe and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of our visit was enjoyable. The food was delicious, with authentic Swiss flavors, music, and decor that transported us straight to the Alps. I highly recommend this charming restaurant!

Heinz - the owner and originator of the restaurant - originally from Switzerland - warmly greeted us. It is a family owned and operated restaurant which is a rarity these days
We enjoyed the salads, soup, raclette, cheese fondue, beef tenderloin fondue, and the chocolate fondue, and we were very satisfied. The food is authentic and delightful just like what we had in our recent visit to Switzerland.
The restaurant itself is extremely cozy and clean. Our staff was so friendly, attentive and so sweet. Exceptional service all around. We will definitely be back on our next trip back to Stowe. Everyone needs to try it!
PS : Don’t listen to the people who say the bread is stale and the cheese tastes like alcohol. They don’t know how a real fondue is like.

This quaint and comfortable restaurant is conveniently located on the Stowe main street. We have enjoyed fondue experiences at ski resort restaurants all over the world, so of course we had to make our reservations for Swiss Fondue by Heinz!
The decor is authentically alpine, with many ski posters, and we sat right near the sweet little cuckoo clock. The restaurant was extremely popular and busy, but all guests were accommodated with kindness and professionalism, and we never felt rushed. ( It does take a bit of time to prepare and savor a fondue meal!)
The restaurant is family operated, and owner Heinz cheerfully greets all diners. We shared and enjoyed the salads, cheese fondue, beef tenderloin fondue, and the chocolate fondue, and we were very satisfied and full when we finished. The meal was delicious and the perfect choice for a cold Winter night.
We found the prices fair and quite comparable to all other similar fondue restaurants.
We definitely recommend this special establishment and hope to return again soon! DANKE SEHR!

Had an evening meal here. This was our second visit to the restaurant, we visited in 2017, an altogether better experience then…. When booking the table I had to leave my credit card details which I felt uncomfortable doing…
The only drinks served are wines and beers no apéritifs to start off your meal sadly…
We shared between 3, 1 x cheese fondue and 1 shrimp fondue. When sharing 2 dishes between 3 there’s a surcharge of $6 for the privilege…why? The dishes are already seriously overpriced at around $45 per dish. We as a family do not have a huge appetite so 2 dishes between 3 was more than enough for us. The 2 fondues came with a side salad each and we were asked if we would like an additional salad, we said yes but was VERY surprised to find they had charged an additional $10 for an itsy bitsy side plate of a salad. The bread for the cheese fondue was dry and disappointing. We had no starter, 2 fondues and 1 small bottle of beer…the gratuity was added automatically and this meal came to $130! A lot of money for very little enjoyment. The cheese fondue WAS delicious except for the stale bread and so too was the shrimp (prawn), the waitress was very efficient and pleasant but the cost and general experience means we would not frequent this restaurant again sadly.

Over priced, bread was stale. Host told us each order was enough for only one. We ordered two, but one order would have been more than enough to share. Also, waitress offered apples to dip along with the bread, but failed to mention there was an additional charge. Service was poor. Hard to get the waitress’ attention. But an 18% tip was added to the bill.

As a cheese fondue lover and having eaten fondue in Switzerland, I decided to try this place whilst in Stowe. I don’t mind paying high prices if the food is worth it. This was not. Service was good but the owner is one of the rudest people I’ve had the misfortune to encounter. The bread was rock hard and cheap and the fondue was gelatinous. If the owner is trying to model his attitude and behaviour on the likes of Gordon Ramsay or Marco Pierre White, he needs to be in their culinary league. No doubt he’ll give a rude response to this review as that is his only level of intellect. There are better restaurants on the area

This review gets three bubbles because my kids loved the experience and have no clue what a $400 meal should look like. FYI we are a family of 4 with a 10 and an 11 yo.
Cozy charming looking restaurant. Staff was friendly and welcoming enough.
Food was the problem here. The cheese fondue did have a bechamel consistency and the flavor was overly alcoholic. The broth fondue was tasteless. The shrimp did not have a fresh clean flavor. The apples, bananas and strawberries served with the chocolate fondue were overly ripe and unfresh. Overall the quality of the ingredients did not seem high.
Each entree was close to $40-$50 a head. The only beverage ordered was one cup of mulled wine which cost $16. There was an automatic gratuity put on the check which makes sense because people might be unhappy with the bill and dock the servers.
Was a good bucket list experience with the kids but for us this is a FON DONT!

We are big fans of Swiss cheese fondue and having lived and worked in Switzerland we like to think we have tried all types.
What we were served in this restaurant however didn’t taste like anything we ever tasted before. It tasted like a starchy soup with a dash of wine, but a complete lack of cheese and the bread was not 1 day old as it is supposed to be, but a leftover from last winter.
When we complained the item was removed from the bill, but not after being told that the owner is Swiss and we don’t know what it is supposed to taste like.
We think the prices are generally a bit high.
Dear Heinz, before you also wish us to receive Burger King vouchers from Santa as you commented on one of the below posts… Yes please! Not our favorite place, but you get what you pay for and it matches expectations.

Everytime we visit Stowe, my family and I make sure to dine with Heinz! We love all the dishes there, but always order the Raclette, beef fondue and chocolate fondue for dessert. Those dishes alone hit all the high notes for us. We usually order also a serving of cheese fondue for all. We've never been disappointed!
Heinz also serves authentic Dole Swiss wine, in addition to other delicious wines and beer.
Heinz and his family are the real deal. You really feel like your in Zermatt, Switzerland when you visit them. Prost!!

When we walked in, the manager suggested a drink. After tax and automatically included tip, it ended up being around $25 per glass. We paid $162 for a medium quality fondue and 3 drinks, way overpriced! The manager was not available at the time we paid for an explanation.

Very cute from the outside. Came with two children. Entrees start at $27. Since they have no kids menu, our kids shared an entrée. They however charge me four dollars guaranteed and would not budge from that. Ordered steak for $37 and had 16 small bite-sized cut up pieces. Everything was an up charge. Cheese fondue came with hard bread. You had to pay 4 dollars for tiny plate of a cut up apple to go with the cheese fondue. Argued with me. When forgot tiny bowl of potatoes with shrimp entree. Tiny portions and overpriced. We like to fine done and are willing to pay top dollar for high quality food. This place left us hungry, frustrated and taken advantage of. I see many other comments and reviews that have had similar experiences. Management response repeatedly telling customers to go to Burger King and pick weeds. Not exactly the right attitude to improve upon themselves.

Very disappointed. It was one of the worst dining experiences we had. The only great thing about this place was service. Food was what we came here for and it was bad. Cheese fondue tasted horrible, shrimp was uncleaned properly, tiny salad and $20 glass of hot cider. Place is above average and super overpriced. Definitely not coming back.

We stopped during a visit to Stowe and it was wonderful. A family -owned restaurant with impeccable service, we loved our cheese and meat fondue dinner and made sure to bookmark this place for future Vermont trips. If you’re looking for a cozy dinner post-skiing, make a reservation here!

We came here on a cold winter’s night before Christmas and was blown away by the great Swiss ambiance and hospitality. Our kids loved the cheese fondue (without alcohol - you can request it), the beef and shrimp broth fondue and of course finished with a chocolate fondue.
Mr Heinz showed up at our table several times to make sure everything was to perfection. Must place to go in Stowe if you are looking for that Swiss experience!

This was our first visit. We were blown away by charming Heinz and the excellent food. A special soup to start, a smooth spinach cold soup (vichyssoise style) was an unexpected treat. The cheese fondue was perfect with chunks of french bread. We also had the beef which came out of the broth perfectly every time at the recommended 90 seconds. There were four sauces to dip the meat in as well - all excellent. And then chocolate fondue for dessert.....don't even get me started. Can't wait to go back!
