Restaurant is an idyllic farmhouse with roaring fireplace once you step inside, very charming Vermont setting. The tables were also spread very far apart (for COVID) and there were many different rooms that made it feel private and cozy. Perfect Birthday dinner and the food did not disappoint, everything we ordered was fantastic. Wonderful menu, ordered the crispy brussel sprouts (flaky, tasty, delicious), filet mignon (tender, cooked to perfection), shrimp risotto (hit the spot) and the apple pie (normally I'm not a huge apple dessert kind of person but the pastry dough was flaky, doughy and soooo good, topped with ice cream and homemade whipped cream). Enjoyed every bite! Great wine list. Shout out to Cecilia for the great hospitality and for checking on us multiple times and making sure we had a great experience! Not to mention she topped the dessert with a lit candle to celebrate. Great for a special occasion or just a wonderful meal out.

The Bistro easily accommodated our group of seven for dinner on Valentine's Day. Before choosing The Bistro, I tried to make reservations at other highly rated locations in Stove, but none could handle our group. The Bistro seated us in a very cozy private room.
Our group started with drinks and multiple orders of Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Vermont Cheese Plate. Both appetizers were exquisite.
We ordered several Salmon entrees, requested at various levels of doneness. Each one was cooked to perfection. A couple of us thoroughly enjoyed the Glazed Pork Tenderloin. Another of our party ordered and received a perfectly prepared Filet Mignon.
The server was very attentive and professional. Overall, The Bistro provided us a top-notch dining experience.

Wonderful food and service. I had the roast duck and my wife had the filet. I tried the black bean and quinoa chili as an appetizer - it was excellent. The beet hummus served with the duck was a noteable difference as well. Good stuff all around.
We ate outside. Watching eight people get their SUV out of a ditch was unplanned entertainment that rounded out the evening.

This restaurant has been a go to location and favorite cuisine for many years. The ambiance is always impeccable. The service historical been above average. Tonight, we were served our appetizer within 3 minutes followed by our entree within 20 minutes from being seated. We had to ask the waitress to slow down prior to dessert to enjoy our wine. The cheese plate was amazing. The duck and salmon entrees were average. The cold flourless chocolate cake was below average. We asked the waitress if the ownership changed and the response was no. We asked if the chef changed and that was confirmed the change. We'll ask about who's the chef going forward. We have so many fantastic memories of incredible cuisine. Everything does change, in this case the food quality has been reduced to just average. Hope the owners take feedback seriously.

We had visited this restaurant before a few times (pre-Covid ), we loved the ambiance, the staff, and the food. We always left with smile on our face and a good satisfied feeling.
This time when we walked in there was something missing in ambiance (no table cloths for one thing). We found the restaurant was under new ownership. We ordered cocktails, even before they came the waiter was waiting to take our meal orders. We had to request time out, to relish the cocktails first, he reminded us that they expected us to be done in one and a half hour at the restaurant.
Two of us had good mussels and salad, that was good, they enjoyed it, the other two of us had vegetarian curry with shrimp. The rice was not cooked thru, so we had to return the dishes. In any case the curry portion was not all that tasty, and we only saw a few pieces of carrots, no other vegetables could be seen or tasted as mentioned on the menu. We couldn’t finish the meal.
When we got home my friend had an upset stomach.
So much for the experience this time.

Last Fall we had an amazing dinner at the Bistro and were looking forward to dining here again this summer. It was a huge disappointment! The “pesto pasta” was more like an alfreddo with over cooked pasta. The Tuna poke was ok but kind of hard to eat sitting in a slice of zucchini. Too bad. We won’t be coming back.

Food was ok at best. Far from the exceptional which is what reputation and price leads to believe. Service was slightly better but still all over the place and in attentive.
Decor is farm house. And they are true to their word, it looks like it may have been a farm house as recently as the last two years. There is a difference between farm house chic, and peeling wall paper with wide plank floors, and window unit AC units while charging $43 for a filet.
My wife ordered kale caesar with grilled shrimp. It came out with the shrimp used for shrimp cocktail. Obviously not being what was ordered we kindly brought it to their attention. They took it back, threw the shrimp cocktail shrimp onto the grill, and called it good. The end result was over salted, twice cooked shrimp, over a bed of curly kale, and lackluster dressing. Essentially inedible, we had to send it back.
I ordered the filet. It was good. And by good I unfortunately mean nothing spectacular. I can not deduct points for a plate that lived up to its name, but I can for not living up to expectations. A grilled filet, over potatoes, with vegetables. Very standard.
Overall I’m left wondering what everyone else found to be so exceptional about the restaurant. Having visited Stowe several times over the last several years, I can say with confidence there are better options.

Let me start by saying I'm not a big complainer, and the vast majority of my reviews are to applaud excellent service or a great meal. Unfortunately this was not my experience at the Bistro at Ten Acres. The venue itself is lovely, but the service was mediocre at best and our meals had major flaws.
Starting with our appetizer, the Brussels sprouts were tasty and quiet creative. It created anticipation for our mains that did not live up expectation.
My wife ordered the filet. It arrived dry and tough. I don't know how much was the preparation and how much was the quality of the meat, but it's something she would have mentioned if the wait staff had come by to ask.
My entree was even more problematic. I ordered the curry with rice, and salmon on top. The salmon was overcooked, the top third inedible. But the biggest issue was with the rice, some of which was undercooked to the point of being crunchy.
When they were clearing the plates I did mention the rice issue to our server. Her only comment was 'perhaps there's a problem with the rice cooker...I'll let the kitchen staff know'. Really? Blaming the rice cooker?
I didn't make a big fuss, content to just never return. But without going into too much detail, my stomach didn't take kindly to the few spoons of uncooked rice I ate.

Had a great meal here last year. This year not so good. The Mussels appetizer excellent and a generous portion. However my Chicken Pot Pie was poor. The crust looked like it was made commercially and set on the side of a large soup bowl, so not a Pot Pie in the strict sense. The broth was very thin and bland, and the small cubes of chicken and veggies also looked like it was premade elsewhere and simply reheated. My wife had the fish which was mediocre at best. Bottom line the food looked like it was prepared elsewhere and just reheated. We will probably not go back.

The Bistro atTen Acres has become one of our favorites. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the food has always been great! This year, due to Covid, we opted to eat outside on their patio. We've never eaten on their patio before but it was idyllic! Both the mountain views in the distance and the restaurant gardens close at hand were beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the live music (check schedule). The service was excellent and we were very impressed with their commitment to safety. Most importantly, the cocktails and food were as good as they've always been. We particularly enjoyed the filet mignon and the salmon. I also highly recommend the Maple Manhattan! We so enjoyed the food, drinks, music, and outdoor ambiance that we returned a few days later!

We had a wonderful dinner tonight with great service. We spent almost $300 including a $100 bottle of wine. When we ordered, we ordered a large Caesar salad to split (which we could have easily split ourselves with an extra plate, but they split it for us as many fine dining restaurants do). When the bill came, we were charged a $3 splitting charge. Seriously??? After spending that kind of money. Very disappointing end to the evening.

No visit to Stowe would be complete without a meal here. I enjoyed it so much that I ate there several times during my trip. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The meals were delicious, and dining on the patio with live music from Michael was unforgettable. Thank you to the staff for making it the highlight of my trip.

I cannot imagine this place getting a negative review. Ambiance was charming. Located in an older home with fireside dining and a romantic place to dine with views of Vermont county side. Our service was exceptional. Excellent wine and bar options. The kale and house salads were outstanding; really fresh. Two of the best salads we can remember. Got the smoked salmon dip, cod special and the mussels and they were all excellent and perfectly prepared. We had some exceptional meals while in Stowe and this was probably our favorite.

My wife and I visited the Bistro during a two night stay in Stowe October 2024 and unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience,
On arrival the member of staff checking guests in was dealing with another phone customer, which is understandable, but then did not aid his colleague in trying to get us seated at all, holding back the tablet and generally not setting that welcoming an impression.
Once seated, despite having a booking and the restaurant appearing to be largely empty on a Monday night, it took us at least 30 minutes to have our order taken, 45 minutes to get drinks and in total around 2 hours to get through our two courses, eventually asking for our dessert to go as we were a bit fed up of waiting, with even this taking 15-20 mins to arrive.
In fairness to the waiter, he also seem frustrated with with wait and it seemed more of an issue with the speed of the food coming out of the kitchen as nobody was getting anything very quickly. That said, the waiter did not do anything to make the slow service more acceptable or ever apologies for the wait, only that he brought the food as soon as it was available.
We could have overlooked the wait somewhat if the food had been high quality, but it was only "OK" and the for the price charged, thus disappointing.
Having looked through some recent Google reviews (whilst we were waiting) it did not seem like our experience was an isolated experience for those who have visited more recently.

Beautiful decor and great food. The Bistro at Ten Acres boasts a real wood fireplace, which is becoming increasingly rare! The Mediterranean duck confit features some unusual but successful pairings such as raisin couscous, brussels sprouts and pomegranates. The shrimp risotto is more classic but is made with a variety of vegetables. I do find that the portions are too large (for example one duck leg instead of two in the confit would have been more than enough), which makes it impossible to save room for dessert!
