We picked this restaurant based on reviews and their operating hours. It is tough to find a restaurant open on Sunday evening. The menu at Twiggs sounded intriguing so we figured we would try it. We had to wait a while for a table due...to the amount of people eating there and the state of things in the country with a shortage of staff. It was WORTH the wait! From the prices, the pleasant staff, to the quality of the food we were treated to a treasure. I have never had such delicious baked fish, the vegetable and the potato were fresh and I forgot to mention, hot. Nothing is worse than eating out and having food less that warm. My husband’s Mac and cheese was hot and very cheesy. Our server was the very best. She was funny, welcoming, and so pleasant. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. One of the highlights of our road trip out east was Twigg’s in St. Albans, VT!!!!!More

Service was excellent; friendly and knowledgeable staff who paid attention but didn't hover. The salmon was very good, although the side vegetables were boiled in the traditional but tragic New England style and the fries seemed left over from some previous owner. The flatbread was...reportedly outstanding, and the drinks were splendid. We'll go back there, but I'll go with a flatbread next time. . . .More

While visiting friends in Burlington I had elected to stay at an Airbnb in Fairfax. During my stay I injured my back so we were looking for a dining spot close to my homebase. The owner of the Airbnb location suggested Twiggs because they take...reservations, it was close by, and the food is good. All of these turned out to be the case. St Albans is a very attractive small old town north of Burlington on the way to Montreal. We parked on the street next to a two block long public park that is across the street from Twiggs and, as such provided a very lovely backdrop to dinner on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. When we arrived the place was hopping. A very good folky band was just starting to play their gig on the wide sidewalk in front of Twiggs. We had requested and were given an outdoor table that was just far enough from the musicians for us to enjoy their music as background but didn't find it intrusive. The wait-staff was consistently upbeat and efficient but not to the point where it felt contrived. The menu was large enough that I wanted some input on what the better dishes were and our waiter was helpful and accurate. I went for the Rachel which was generous and excellent and paid to have the yummy onion rings as my side dish. The food arrived promptly and everything was well-prepared and as described. In the condition in which I found myself, including severe back pain, relatively heavily drugged on nerve pain medication, concerned about dining with lots of other people at a time when Covid was on the dramatic increase, and wishing to be able to have a good but at times intense conversation with my tablemate, Twiggs was the perfect choice. If I am north of Burlington and want lunch or dinner, I will head to St Albans and straight back to Twiggs.More

Our family of 4 got takeout from Twiggs and the food was very good, although the prices are expensive in my opinion. Definitely disappointed in the very small dessert portions, and the chocolate torte looked nothing like the picture on their website. We ordered 2...desserts to share between the four of us and we could hardly cut each one in half because it was so small! We enjoyed the food though, and good service.More

Brought traveling family of 6 to this wonderful place that was recommended by a pastor who performed my mom's memorial. Great food and service. They certainly didn't mind my grandkids.

My husband and I were walking by and decided to have lunch here. What a wonderful desicion. The beer choices were mind-boggling, I had the Maple Breakfast Porter, very nice! My husband and I each had a burger, I had the Vermonster. So delish! Our...servers were cheerful and polite. All in all, we had a lovely lunch!More

Ordered a braised pork dinner and found it to be extremely dry. I think the cook tried to braise a center cut pork roast with very little marbling and when served cut the slices too thick. I was disappointed seeing that I am a good...home cook and look forward to having a meal better than what I can do. Maybe I should have applied for the cook’s job. Won’t be back.More

I was disappointed. Our server was really nice, but we had to wait a LONG time for everything...drinks and food. We only ordered appetizers and even that took a long time. My husband ordered nachos and they were literally soggy with processed cheese and cold...when he got them. The other food was good but not super hot. I don’t know if they were understaffed or what was happening but it was not an enjoyable meal. I’m not sure that we would go back.More

This was my husband and my first experience eating at a restaurant since the COVID pandemic began in March. We had traveled to Vermont to visit relatives and had decided to meet at Twiggs to re-connect. I was grateful the weather allowed us to sit...outdoors at a safe space from each other as well as other patrons. Camille was our friendly and attentive waiter and she was prompt with dispatching our meals. I enjoyed a very hearty poutine while my husband and his aunt had the chicken quesadillas. The food was excellent all around. We would definitely return during another trip to this area!More

It's a beautiful and relaxing drive through northern Vermont to get to this friendly spot, right across the street from St. Albans' stunning village green, Taylor Park, with its gorgeous, recently-restored 3-tier fountain dating from the 1880s. Now in the late summer, both the park...and the sidewalk planters at Twiggs have profusions of colorful flowers that greatly enhance the dining experience. Whether you sit outside or inside, it's a very pleasant atmosphere, and you will enjoy good food from a large and varied, moderately-priced menu. We tend to like the sidewalk tables best, but in the warm sunshine found the cool indoor environment more appealing. There are a couple of charming tables-for-two in nooks behind windows that front on the sidewalk, but the sun was streaming in, so we opted for an interior booth in the cool shadows, with a pub-like quality that felt pleasantly private, with seating limited to 50% of capacity. We ordered a turkey club sandwich with bacon and deliciously crisp house-made potato chips and a house specialty called the Rail City Wrap that tips its hat to St. Albans railroad history (in its heyday, 23 tracks ran through this city). It's basically a steak sandwich with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms and peppers, with cheese sauce added to make it even more delectable. It comes with your choice of house-made chips or hand-cut fries. Both meals were very satisfying and served in large enough portions that we took away half to enjoy the next day at home for lunch. Service was friendly, and our server was attentive, even though quite busy with the customers and the sanitizing chores (they adhere assiduously to all requirements related to the ongoing pandemic). The kitchen, however, was notably slow during our time there. Perhaps they were temporarily understaffed, but we had to wait quite a long time for orders that seemed relatively simple to prepare. While waiting, we did enjoy glasses of quite respectable wine, so it was OK. Since we were there on Saturday, we had as a bonus the chance before and after our lunch to wander through the Farmers' Market at Taylor Park, and to learn more about the history of this interesting, historic city of just under 7000. All in all, we had a very enjoyable time here at Twiggs and went away happy. We'd been here before, pre-pandemic, and now that we know it's safe as well as enjoyable in these trying times, we'll be sure to return soon. Recommended.More
