I walked into the bar and asked if I can take a seat. He asked if I had reservations. I explained to him that I am from out of town and that if he can make room. He said sorry you need a reservation. I...asked him about tomorrow night and he looked at me blankly. Can I make a reservation now with you? Or do I need to do it online? Still a blank stare. It’s really sad that I’m from out of town and this is my impression of Rutland Vermont, A rude bartender. What he should’ve said was welcome to our city let me see if I can make room for you.More

We ate there on a Friday night during ski season. Although there was only one person serving, he couldn't have been more attentive. His wine recommendations were spot on. The roasted cauliflower was super tasty and the flatbread was delicious, as was my meal of...veggie sliders. We would definitely go back there.More

We were fortunate enough to get to join their Lone Wolf Wine, 4 course wine pairing dinner last night & I honestly can’t say enough about how wonderful our entire experience was! Highly recommended this place. This was our first time at Brix Bistro and...we will most definitely be back! Great atmosphere, superb food and fantastic staff! Thanks again to Peter, Tony & the chef!More

Good wines, nice cocktails, great small plates. I agree, the manager here really creates the vibe, cares for his customers, and knows his wines and his cocktails!

My friend and I decided to go here together on a whim one night. We were greeted by a staff member and sat at one of the high top tables. The owner came over and introduced himself and made small talk and told us a...little about the place. The wine menu is extensive which was great! We each ordered a glass of riesling to start and it came out promptly. The cheddar cheese plate was delicious-it came with some pita chips and a tasty apple jelly. My friend got the Greek salad which she loved and I got the quesadilla which was actually very good! For something sweet we both got a slice of the homemade Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cake which was incredible. Overall very impressed with the food and the service. Can’t wait to return!More

My boyfriend and I stopped in at Brix sometime last summer, and have been going at least once a week since then! Cozy little place with great wine and creative cocktails, as well as delicious food like prosciutto with cheese and an espresso ice cream...cake! The bartender Adam is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and Brix wouldn’t be the same without him!More

We were attracted by the reviews. We walked into a crowd of folks who were clearly intoxicated and milling about. No one greeted us. There didn't seem to be a staff. It appeared that there was some "private" party going on. And we weren't "in."...On a Saturday night! Could be an aberration; but we won't be back.More

Brix was exactly what I was looking for-- some wine and tasty nibbles. Also makes an amazing martini. Phenomenal friendly service. Great decor. If I lived in Rutland, I would go here weekly.

Such a great addition to Rutland's dining scene! Love the atmosphere AND the wine choices AND the food! We stopped in on half price glasses night, so we got to try several light to fuller bodied wines as the food courses arrived. Each one was...a delight, as were especially the prosciutto and the raviolis. We WILL be back!More

I went there for the first time last Friday night around 8pm. There were a few other patrons at the time, so it was cozy. The wine selection is plentiful, along with the presentation. Appetizer selection was good too. I had the pesto flat bread,...and it was pretty good, as far as flat breads go. A little pricey for my taste, but a nice change of place for me.More

I love Brix. Have been there several times and find the wine selection excellent and the light fare tasty and inventive. The service was cheerful and attentive. I cannot imagine where the "Penguinator13" reviewer thought he/she was. This is not New York or Paris (where...I once lived). It is Rutland and Brix is an excellent addition. Also the word is "worst" not "worse".More

When I visit a wine bar, I expect it to meet certain expectations. - I expect variety. I expect Desert Wines. I expect a "Brix Brand Wine" or a "House Wine" or a "partnered wine that should've been advertised to me in an exhausted verbatim."...I expect some type of bubbly or "exotic / foreign" wines. I expect Local wines from Vermont. Brix has failed to deliver on the variety of wines I come to expect from a wine bar. I don't want "table" wines. I want something that I can't just drive to the local liquor store down the road.. - I expect Deserts. Chocolates. Fruits. Candies. Recommend me something to go with the drink. i.e. This chardonnay goes well with this desert, would you like to order it as well? It wasn't helpful either that the bartender just wanted to play on his phone and didn't focus on customer service. - I expect all cheeses, meats, or any kind of food to come out NOT on an oversize metal plate as if you got them from a liquidator airplane convention. There is a Walmart right across the street. Give me $200 and I can find a couple of small wooden cutting boards or something. The presentation doesn't say "Class" is says to me "Cheap and Now Boarding American Airlines Flight 7321 to Chicago" - I expect the atmosphere to say something. It's about the little touches here and there that make it a worth while experience. Again, there is a Walmart across the street... it can be done on a budget... Some examples: tea lights, small plants, an aroma that doesn't smell like a dishwasher, music that doesn't sound like its from the radio.. Essentially I walked into a bar that only serves wine and not a Wine Bar.... Management needs to look into bars in New York City and literally copy it. The presentation is off. The Staff doesn't want to be there. and There is no variety.More
