It is often difficult to get a great meal for yourself and please your children as well! Roots does a great job with a reasonably priced children's menu. Six options, $6 each. We shared fondue as an appetizer. I didn't tell my son it had blue cheese and he loved it regardless. I got the beet salad which was great.... More

We've all talked about the incredible food we were served for days, but the staff also makes this small downtown Rutland restaurant a winner. The hostess Rachel was friendly, inviting, and very accomodating. She even moved things around to seat our group of 5 more quickly. Our waiter "JD" was perfection! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and his... More

Had dinner for four. Or second couple was late but staff handled the staggered arrival and ordering without comment or hitch. Nicely synched up the main course. Wine recommendation was spot on ... great Cote du Rhone. Had Gluten free bread was very good, must say I was impressed given what a difficult task it is to make gluten free... More

We stopped by here for lunch while in town based on the great reviews and that was a very wise decision! The food was fantastic - it was succulent and filling without being overwhelming. They definitely work to prepare each dish for maximum flavor while watching the health factor. I had a Ramen bowl that was so delectable and flavorful... More

Had a delicious meal last night with my family. We shared cheese fondue, grilled Caesar salad, beet salad, pork noodle ball, calamari, strip steak and blueberry pie. The pie was ok, the rest of the meal was excellent. Good selection of beer on tap. Not a lot of seating so call ahead.

We were here for lunch. It's a very small restaurant seating perhaps 25 plus another 10 at the bar. Dinner is very busy and you probably need reservations. The beet salad is highly recommended especially with the fantastic chicken on top. Tacos were fresh and flavorful. The quinoa salad was delicious. Highly recommended

Fantastic food and atmosphere. Will come back. My wife had the fish tacos and said they were better than ones she had in San Diego. I had the Chicken Cheessteak, also very good. We both had the cheddar palenta, it was awesome.

I know that Roots is the #1 restaurant in Rutland. But let's face it, the competition isn't that stiff. I would suggest that the management not let this go to their heads.....there IS room for improvement. We stopped in for lunch today, it wasn't our first visit. We each had a sandwich from the menu. I had a side with... More

last night my fav restauraunt let me down! say it ain't so! I LOVE ROOTS but last night I ordered the flank steak special and it was awful. The steak itself was not char cooked--kind of looked gray on the outside, it was served in a puddle of some kind of meaningless sauce...the wet kale mess on top didn't help... More
