Excellent meal and atmosphere. Very accommodating to my dietary restrictions. Allowed me to share plates with no extra plate charge. My husband had the salmon and was very impressed with flavor. My mother in law and I split the chicken parmigiana and my father in...law had the steak. The toasted bananas and cranberries for dessert were delicious. Highly recommend if you are in the area.More
I just returned from a vacation near Rutland and discovered Roots. The food was so good that my husband and I ate all our dinners there, 4 nights in a row. We tried something different each time and were never disappointed. The crispy pork belly...with cherry sauce appetizer was amazing. All their salads are delicious. The presentation of each dish is a work of art. They won an award from AY's Magazine for Best New Restaurant in Vermont 2020. Well Deserved. It was the first restaurant we've been to since the Pandemic and we felt safe eating there.More
We stumbled on to this place by accident as Google maps shows it on another street other than Washington. Their menu had a lot of choices and the salmon was great. I love that we had to record our name and phone number for contact...tracing and this is what we had to do in every Rutland and Killington restaurant. We had planned to go back a 2nd time but they were closed Sun and Mon,More
We started with a fabulous fondue made with local cheeses and honey with bread and green apples for dipping. I also had the summer sangria...refreshing.
For dinner we had the pulled pork with blueberry bbq sauce and slaw...I wouldn't normally like Cole slaw, but this...was fresh and an excellent pairing. My husband said the same about his peach glazed salmon...he normally dislikes sweet potatoes, but altogether they made the perfect bite.
For dessert I had sauteed bananas with cranberries over ice cream.More
Had a great first meal here. Attentive to our gluten free needs. Lot of interesting options. Had a tasty ceviche with good guacamole. Really fantastic risotto. But the best meal was a braised pork dish. Really great flavors in the tender pork and the flavorful...marinade, pickled cabbage offering a nice brined respite, and overall an incredibly flavorful meal. And while the price wasn’t low it felt like a good value for a great meal. Recommended!
COVID NOTES: we ate outside with an abundance of caution from the staff taking orders and serving food/drinks. Menus were easy to get on your phone with scannable QR codes.More
We sat outdoors in an open tent on the grassy common area in Rutlands back alley. Nice atmosphere and great service. Tables were socially distanced so masks were only required if you went inside to use the restroom. It was our first dinner out since...the Pandemic started and it was relaxing. The food was great. Very tasty. I recommend the calamari app to start. We will be back.More
The new location is a huge improvement, although strangers to downtown may have a time finding it. The ambiance is really great now. The menu is broad and appealing, especially for vegetarians. The service is uniformly attentive and helpful. I really like what they do...with tofu, both sandwich and entree.More
Excellent! David was our server and made the evening an enjoyable event. The food was good, but David made it better. Coincidently we had spoken to him earlier to confirm directions. The fondue appetizer was a real treat.
