Wonderful lobster bisque. Fish and chips were good; it's awesome when places have malt vinegar at the ready :) Table of 5 was seated a little too close for comfort (one was coughing, not reassuring in the era of Covid). Takeout experience was good too....Do yourself a favor and get some truffles from the attached gift shop on your way out.More

Recently stayed at Gregoire Castle in Irasburg Vermont and had The Eastside crew come in and cook us dinner. I told Dena to do her thing without further instruction. She did, and it was AMAZING!!! Her awesome assistant Jo decorated the outdoor patio table for...appetizers and the indoor table for dinner. She then proceeded to bring out tray after tray of amazing morsels that Dena and her Chef whipped up in the kitchen. Anywhere from 10-13 different options, I honestly lost count. Never experienced anything like it, each one fabulous with local ingredients sprinkled in everywhere. Somehow, we were then expected to go inside and eat dinner. Twisting our arms was not necessary. Candlelit table with some of the most succulent steaks, perfect halibut and other sides spread across the table. Still not enough? How about three different delectable desserts! All of it pulled off in the little kitchen in the house. Like some kind of Disney magic they swiftly cleaned up and left the place cleaner than when they arrived. Never dreamed of an eating experience like that. If you want to be spoiled, have them cater for you. If not dine in at their place. Can't say enough about these folks. Spectacular. Don't thank me for the heads up on this place, just sit back after your meal with two hands on your belly and smile. I'll know. Bravo Eastside!!!More

We had my daughter's rehearsal dinner here and it was amazing. Working with Dena was a breeze. She saved us when at the last minute we had no place to have the dinner. The food was delicious. The view with the water was amazing. The...staff that night was attentive and wonderful to work with. Everyone ranted and raved about the whole thing. I would highly recommend them and look forward to going back again! I'd give it 100 stars if I could!!More

We had mixed reviews about the food. People were not thrilled about the fish and chips which was on the crunchy side. I had maple broiled scallops which were phenomenal as was the side of veggies and the fries. The Nanny Haddock was also a...favorite at our table. Generous portions. Great view!More

We had a nice lunch on the deck with very good food. However, we witnessed two of the wait staff with their masks not on their noses. More upsetting was that a few customers arrived unmasked and there was no enforcement by the manager. There...is a mask mandate in the state of Vermont. We won't be back.More

We were driving nearby and, remembering how we'd enjoyed this restaurant pre-pandemic, we called ahead to see if there might be an outside table available for us in the next 15 minutes. Given the green light, we arrived on the dot and were received warmly....Besides the pleasant and spacious indoor dining, this restaurant has a large deck with superb views of mountains all along Lake Memphremagog, which stretches more than 30 miles between Newport, VT and Magog, Quebec. Tables were well spaced to comply with social distancing requirements, and all the servers wore masks. What could be better than enjoying fresh air and wonderful scenery with well-prepared, hearty food and respectable wine (or cold beer) on a great summer day? We were up for comfort food, and lots of it so we wouldn't need dinner later on. We both had the Maple Burger, 6 oz. of tender locally-produced beef with bacon and cheese, the whole smothered in maple BBQ sauce from Gray Farm in nearby Derby, VT. Portions are large here. It was a lot to handle, pretty messy, and very satisfying. If you order a dish like this, ask for extra napkins -- you will need them -- or if planning in advance, you might bring a large cloth napkin with you. Keeping the thin paper napkins from blowing away proved challenging on a breezy day, which is to say, on many days in a location like this one. Some larger, heavier gauge paper napkins would do better, so I might suggest that the people who run this place consider that little upgrade. Ditto some heavier gauge plastic glasses. The thin ones in which our wine was served tended to blow across the table as they began to empty and had to be "caught" and corralled several times to avoid spills. Service was efficient and friendly, even with our server being very busy with the large number of diners on the deck. Everyone out there seemed to be having a jolly time, and we did too. Children are welcome here, so there were lots of families out enjoying themselves: a nice sight in these days. If you're feeling full after a big meal here, you can take the short drive to Newport center and stroll along the waterfront there. The views up the lake all the way to Quebec are just breathtaking. Be sure to bring your camera. RecommendedMore

To my opinion this is the best restaurant you can eat in the Newport area. By the water. Gorgeous views, outdoor and indoor dining, great cocktails, and delicious fish. We had the Oriental salad, cheese curds, the maple glazed salomon and lemon capers cod. The...cod was outstanding. The waitress was very pleasant and eager to make us happy. She succeeded! Highly recommended place, a must!More

Old school at it's finest. Cheese Curds are to die for. Views of the Lake, the local color at the bar, the friendly staff are always working hard to make it a great experience.

I have been here 4 or 5 times over the past few years, and I will say, each time was a pleasant stop. Food was good, service was nice and pricing was fine. Once I eat out on the deck, very nice, the other times...were inside, either because of the weather or time of year, today was the time of year. They have a nice store, shop, bakery attached with some very nice clothing and shoes for women. One stop had my wife falling in love with some clogs, that she / I have purchased from other places, some 4 or 5 times since the first pair, she really likes them. Soaps, Pies, Shoes, Sweaters, Chocolates, Candy and so much more. Well worth the stop (which is why I've stopped 4 + times so far.More
