Recently stayed at Gregoire Castle in Irasburg Vermont and had The Eastside crew come in and cook us dinner. I told Dena to do her thing without further instruction. She did, and it was AMAZING!!! Her awesome assistant Jo decorated the outdoor patio table for appetizers and the indoor table for dinner. She then proceeded to bring out tray after tray of amazing morsels that Dena and her Chef whipped up in the kitchen. Anywhere from 10-13 different options, I honestly lost count. Never experienced anything like it, each one fabulous with local ingredients sprinkled in everywhere. Somehow, we were then expected to go inside and eat dinner. Twisting our arms was not necessary. Candlelit table with some of the most succulent steaks, perfect halibut and other sides spread across the table. Still not enough? How about three different delectable desserts! All of it pulled off in the little kitchen in the house. Like some kind of Disney magic they swiftly cleaned up and left the place cleaner than when they arrived. Never dreamed of an eating experience like that. If you want to be spoiled, have them cater for you. If not dine in at their place. Can't say enough about these folks. Spectacular. Don't thank me for the heads up on this place, just sit back after your meal with two hands on your belly and smile. I'll know. Bravo Eastside!!!

Friends brought us here when we visited Vermont and we were not disappointed. The facility is very pleasant with a nice view of the lake. Our server was attentive and efficient. Salads were crisp, and we each received warm rolls with butter. Onion rings were fantastic and fried mushrooms were good too. Steaks were served just as ordered, and a shrimp and scallop linguini special was fantastic. There's also a nice (though pricey) gift shop that's fun to check out. All around a great experience.

Following a snowshoe race, we stopped at the Eastside Restaurant for lunch with a group of over a dozen college students. I informed the hostess that they are likely to order plenty of chocolate milk and if crayons and coloring pages are available, they would appreciate both.
The menu had plenty of fine options, and of course they drank plenty of chocolate milk with their burgers, fries, soup, chicken, fish, etc. The service was great and the wait time for the various menu items was minimal.
Needless to say, the students did a stellar job of coloring while waiting for their food.

Many if not most restaurants in Newport seem to close at 9pm, so we raced out to the closet place to our hotel at 8pm one Friday evening. We weren't disappointed.
We sat at the bar and enjoyed our food and a drink while listening to a duo play hits from the 80s. (Very talented musicians.) The fish tacos were exceptional, with a spicy sauce that had a nice kick to it and well-cooked fish. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. They checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed, but we never felt like we were being rushed even as the band started playing "Closing Time" behind us.
We'll definitely come back the next time we're in Newport.

We ate at this restaurant twice. The first night the fish and chips my husband had were very good. I ordered gluten free pasta and it was extremely overcooked. It was falling apart. The second night my husband had a club sandwich and it was good. I asked for a Reuben without bread because of my allergy and received one slice of corned beef with a smear of sauerkraut and dressing. The plate was full of potato chips. I told the waitress I wasn’t happy with paying $14 for a slice of corned beef and she said she did tell the kitchen the plate was skimpy before bringing out our meal. She did offer some candy to us which we declined. Overall I would not go back to this restaurant.

Wonderful lobster bisque. Fish and chips were good; it's awesome when places have malt vinegar at the ready :)
Table of 5 was seated a little too close for comfort (one was coughing, not reassuring in the era of Covid).
Takeout experience was good too.
Do yourself a favor and get some truffles from the attached gift shop on your way out.

, We dined here on Sept 29 at 5:30 pm. This is a popular restaurant in Newport. Nice view dockside at the water. Restaurant was clean. Restroom was clean. Wait staff was decent and was honest about the menu. She did not promote something if she had not had it. My wife had the Shrimp Scampi which was plentiful and the seafood was very fresh. I had the Harbor Master which was 5 large scallops, 4 large shrimp, haddock and a seafood stuffing. lots of sauce on top which I did not like. Otherwise it was very good. Rice on the side. A bread loaf was served before the meal. Total price before tip was $70. We would eat here again.

I’ve been to the eastside restaurant all my life and the food is amazing!! But I just got married on August 12th and had Dena and her team cater the wedding. When I say the food was to die for its an understatement!! My guest raved about the food, they thought the hors d’oeuvres was the meal because there were so may options. Then they had the meal with prime rib, cod and stuffed chicken. Everything was amazing and people are still talking about it! If you’re hosting a party or want amazing food at your wedding, you have to contact them. You won’t be disappointed!!

We had mixed reviews about the food. People were not thrilled about the fish and chips which was on the crunchy side. I had maple broiled scallops which were phenomenal as was the side of veggies and the fries. The Nanny Haddock was also a favorite at our table. Generous portions. Great view!

Very disappointing. Had to wait over an hour for a table after being told a 20 minute wait. Service was poor. Once seated waited 20 minutes for a server to take drink orders . Menu options were mostly heavy fried foods and everything seemed to come with fries. Took forever to get our food which was mediocre at best. Took forever to get our check. After seeing my total and presenting my credit card, server came back with check with different total…beware! They charge 3% of your bill for using a credit card.

Eight of us traveled from upstate New York on motorcycles to enjoy our annual Autumn ride and lunch on the lake. Our visit last year and previous visits have been very good. Our 2022 visit, not so much. The Seafood Chowder had plenty of potatoe and only salmon bits for the "seafood". The Chicken & Biscuits had only about a half of cup of chicken with a large biscuit. The Spinach dip contained a very small portion of chips, which were all broken, and the dip was cold in the middle. The server was courteous and did an excellent job.

To my opinion this is the best restaurant you can eat in the Newport area. By the water. Gorgeous views, outdoor and indoor dining, great cocktails, and delicious fish. We had the Oriental salad, cheese curds, the maple glazed salomon and lemon capers cod. The cod was outstanding. The waitress was very pleasant and eager to make us happy. She succeeded! Highly recommended place, a must!

I was very much looking forward to returning to East Side for the first time since before the pandemic. Although the view of Lake Memphremagog is always magnificent and the food is very good, the salad bar in the past was part of the experience and definitely added to the meal. I was very disappointed that the salad bar was gone. My meal (scallops) was very good, and my 2 friends also both enjoyed theirs (cod, pork chop) as well, but it was less interesting without the salad bar. It is now less worth the 45 minute drive to get there.

We ate on the deck before "rush hour." Very nice atmosphere on a warm but not hot evening. Staff were pretty harried but smiling and attempting to appear relaxed. Rapidly became packed on a Saturday evening. Food was ok. G & T was huge but watery. Both of our entrees were pretty good (fish tacos and a haddock dish) but were over sauced. I'd eat here again but definitely try some other dishes. Fish and chips looked good. Didn't have room for dessert. They looked good too.

The Eastside was perfect for us after driving a couple of hours to the NEK. It was recommended by a former local and did not disappoint with a good selection of beers and cocktails and a broad and interesting menu. You can't beat the location on the water. I imagine it is a fun place to dine during warmer months when they open the deck. If we return to Newport, we will also return to The Eastside Restaurant.
