We ate at Brendas twice the middle of July once during the week and once on the weekend. All the locals go there; they have homemade raisin, cinnamon and other toast which is available for purchase. Yummy! All the staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming....The eggs come any style and the pancakes are also very good. I would recommend it anyone.More

We especially enjoy Brenda’s breakfast but have never had anything other than quality food here. Homemade deserts are a good choice and service is very good and personable.

I went in expecting a good downhome lunch place. But it was better than that! I had a hamburger that was about the best I've ever had -- great quality meat perfectly cooked, delicious crispy bacon, thin slices of apple, really, just perfect. Also fantastic...perfectly cooked onion rings.More

Stopped on way to Quebec City . Located in center of town. Great breakfast & lunch choices. Home made breads. Wife had grilled cheese sandwich and fries. I had veggie omelette with home made rye bread. Food was excellent! Service was excellent! Would certainly return...and highly recommend.More

I drive 45+ minutes (each way) once or twice a week - just to eat at Brenda's. It's worth the trip. The staff treats me like family, the food is the best "home cooking" you can get in Vermont. It is pretty inexpensive. The restaurant...is breakfast / lunch only. They close at 2PM. If you are looking for good inexpensive food, friendly service ... this is a MUST TRY in Newport. (WARNING - they do get very busy. Most really good places do. If you are in a real hurry avoid the noon rush on weekdays / Sundays. come at 10AM or 1PM.) Chances are, I'll be at the last table in the back - come say "Hi".More

Be warned... order off the menu! If you are trying to watch your carbs and say two eggs and sausage... that will be almost $9 whereas a breakfast which has eggs sausage and toast will cost you just over $7!!! Doesn't make sense... but lesson...learned. Have had to send my food back more than once to be "right" but people there are super friendly so that's a plus!More

It was lunch time and all the other places were closed on a Saturday afternoon, we were hungry, the place looked inviting so we went in and had lunch. Décor is a little dated and rundown, but that doesn't matter because the food was excellent...and the service was great. It seemed to be clean and neat, I'm glad they put the emphasis onto the service and the food. I know margins are small and some places have really nice surroundings and serve terrible meals. I would recommend to anyone.More

Brenda's is not a particularly fancy spot. It doesn't need to be. What a breakfast place needs to be is a place for good food, good coffee, good service - all at a price that won't drain the wallet. Brenda's is just such a place....We were greeted warmly and served coffee immediately. The food came quickly despite the restaurant being crowded. If you can cook an egg to order, you're ahead of the game and they can do it at Brenda's. The atmosphere is that of a small town diner, friendly and comfortable. Go. Eat. Enjoy.More

This restaurant has been under new ownership for the past 3 years. The owner is very involved in the business and actually serves the guests. Service is excellent and much of the food is fully prepared on the premises. The food i had was very...good and many locals regularly eat their breakfast there. The atmosphere is very friendly but yet professional. It is open on weekdays from 6AM to 2pm, on Saturdays from 7am to2pm and Sundays from 7am to 12pm. I recommend this Restaurant for those who want a very good home style meal.More

I go there about once every week for breakfast. The food is always well prepared, the place is spotless and the wait staff friendly and make you welcome. A great place in the center of Newport.
