Coffee hits all high and low notes that a good arabica should deliver at a high-end coffee shop. Good mouthfeel and finish. Nice interior space. Bar seating along front window to watch world go by. Also many tables. Bags of coffee for sale (including Bernie's Beans). Pleasing overall vibe.

Wife and I stopped here the other night with our pet corgi to visit all 50 state capitols. Building is large and impressive. Dome is large and can be seen for miles. The grounds was very well taken care of and is like a park. We saw one ground of girls hula hooping and on other side was a band... More

Yes, this is a very typical modern coffee shop...but hang out here to get a taste of what the people of Vermont are really like. Excellent place to sit and people watch.

Whist visiting Montpelier called in to Capitol Grounds as it looked the best option compared to the other outlets in the area, and I think it was! Quirky but original interior, with a nice laid back atmosphere, good service at a reasonable cost, what more can you ask? We sat inside although there was some seating outside on the sidewalk.... Dropped by here on the day of the 4th of July parade. The staff were coping well with quite a lot of custom. Got a seat inside, perhaps because people were sitting outside - it was a nice day. Coffees were nice - lots of sizes available. Good choice for coffee.

Popped in before 9 on a Saturday. No line. Menu was substantial and breakfast sandwiches can be made with GF bread. I had a blueberry muffin (don't you have to do that in Vermont?) which was ok. The coffee was good, the staff were friendly. All the sidewalk tables were full. Nice relaxed vibe inside, plenty of tables.

Stopped here twice for hot coffee and iced coffee, and the lines were exceptionally long both times. Not a big issue, but the line moved a bit slow at times. The coffee is pretty good, and there were a few varieties available. I also got a blueberry muffin, which was good but a bit small for the price. Worth a... More

I have been here several times and have never had a bad drink and have never had bad service. Would love to see some gluten free muffins :)

If you're in Montpelier early morning and want real chai latte that's not poured from a premixed box then this is the spot to go.

I love Capitol Grounds! The coffee is always hot and always tasty-- never burned or weak. The prices are good for a "trendy" downtown cafe. Free wifi available with purchase and the ticket is given with a smile.
