We weren't planning on going here for dinner but the other place we were going to go to was wicked busy so we happily went back to The Belfry which was actually closer to where we were staying and are so glad we did! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and when we said we didn't have a reservation, it seemed like that could've been a problem (so probably best to make one!) but the staff was very kind about it and thankfully we were able to sit at the bar and were perfectly happy to. I had the maple salmon with a twice baked potato - great option as a side that I never see out - and both were delicious and my fiancee had a steak special that was cooked exactly how he ordered and tasted excellent. We also got a white Russian and a piece of maple cream pie to go and thoroughly enjoyed both later in the evening. Our bartender/server, Megan, was friendly, attentive bit not annoying, and seemed to stay busy even when she wasn't serving anyone. This was a great meal at a cozy restaurant during an amazing weekend getaway in Montgomery!

I live locally but hadn't been to the Belfry in many years...farm life. I had the Belfry burger and my husband the blackened chicken over linguini. Both were excellent, I was very happy, the burger was delicious! My husband shared some of his chicken and that was juicy and charred like it's supposed to be. The service was friendly and we were checked on periodically too and quick...I was surprised the meal came as fast as it did. The bread before the meal was warm as it should be! I loved the atmosphere, I felt like I was on vacation even for a little while during this Covid and hot summer! Prices good, not cheap but not too high either. We will be going there again because it was such a nice getaway and splurge a little in our lives.

We went to The Belfry on Tuesday evening. It was our first evening in the area. It seemed busy but we were able to easily get a seat at the bar (our preference). The bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive. We had the pork potstickers. I would move to Vermont for that sauce. We also had chicken tenders with the homemade 911 sauce. Yum! The drinks were excellent but the interaction the bartenders made it worth it for us! Thanks Belfry!

My wife and I had dinner at The Belfry. It was already quite crowded when we arrived for our 7:30 reservation. It's a pretty small place and it was pretty cramped and crowded. We sat in one of the corners in the back and it was really loud. The food was reasonably priced, but was only average. I had stuffed haddock. The taste of the fish was overpowered by the taste of the stuffing. My wife had the pork dish from the menu. She liked it, but had to send it back to be cooked some more as it was very red on the inside. The waitress had never asked her how she wanted it cooked, but did take it back to be cooked some more quickly.

After being on the road for four days and having theee meals a day and too many snacks, The Belfry offered a great cocktail, a cool glass of wine and two appetizers and a salad that hit the spot - a generous serving of tender wings and a chic little dish of four perfectly seasoned grilled shrimp. Relaxing cozy atmosphere, attentive setver - just what was needed

Wing Commander has been coming to The Belfry for over 30 years: And we keep coming back. The blue cheese mushroom dip is a big draw that does not disappoint. In fact, the whole meal was better than we remember pre-COVID! - Server Heather suggested the pork rib eye … brilliant. Hmmmm for mash potatoes! - The pepper steak stand by was a stand up for our guests. - Blackboard special scallops … a beautiful thing. Q-Trip: Reservations work. Q-Trip: Open 7 days at 4 so you can easily make the Highwater border by 8. US Customs locks the gate at eight.

Cozy atmosphere with excellent food. Try the blackened sirloin steak. They have great pasta, seafood dishes and burgers. The mussels were tasty. Marjorie was a delightful server.

Dinner was disappointing. Food was very good, but the waitstaff was lacking in attentiveness and appearance.

We’ve eaten here several times on our ski trips up to Jay Peak. It’s a delicious restaurant with local charm. The fish is fantastic. We had quite a wait as they don’t take reservations. However, the wait was worth every second.

Look I don’t want to burst anyone’s happy bubble here. And I know locals probably love this place (because let’s face it it’s like one of 5 options for a night out). And I am sure Jay Peak guests won’t heed this review and will try to escape the hotel tourist trap restaurants for a night off campus. But I have to be blunt. We had a truly awful dinner. Like memorably bad food we will talk about for years. Save the highlights I will mention, as I am trying to be fair. First that is an amazing bar with a fantastic bartender. Great drinks were pouring out all night. And the place has a great vibe going. There’s the good. But the bad? When the place is busy it took something like 45 mins to get a drink, with three reminders to multiple waitresses before we got it. And then to our surprise it still appeared on the bill. Second highlight, the staff are extremely nice and really trying. Which again makes me the person bursting happy bubbles with this review. And now for the lowlights. How about undercooked chicken served to a child. They refired it quickly enough but it was still rubbery and hard to eat when it came back. We couldn’t get through it it was so hard to eat. (At least they offered a free dessert for possibly poisoning my son - which was very good btw as they make their own desserts). How about literally the worst cooked piece of salmon any of us had ever tasted. It was so overcooked it was like eating either cat food or just fishy chalk. Man that was bad. Couldn’t work our way through it. My piece of salmon was only slightly overcooked so was edible at least, but came out cold. And then how about a tough rubber ball of steak for their smothered steak dish. We asked the cut and it was a “butt steak”. Say no more. So why didn’t we complain more? First see above. They are super nice and trying so you do feel bad making a ruckus. Better to just take your punishment and get it over with. And second the kitchen is slammed for dinner so it took easily 30/45 minutes to get our food. You know if you send anything back you are going to sit and wait there forever. So we just threw some dressing on the cat food and rubber steak ball and gnawed on it as best as we could. I don’t write many reviews but felt compelled to tonight. It was memorable to say the least. In retrospect maybe the hotel tourist traps weren’t so bad after all. At least they were closer and had an indoor water park nearby.
