We ate at Fire and Ice a few weeks ago and had an awesome waitress named Lynn. Fathers Day we ate their and the service was terrible. We were seated and sat so long without being acknowledged I was wondering if we even were going...to be waited on. That alone was enough to ruin the night but the rest of the evening the waitress took forever. I know it was Fathers Day but the tables were not all filled. Not that happy with the menu. You have to order bread with your meal and they do not offer side salads. We will not return.More

After reading reviews of this restaurant (one of which listed it as the most beautiful restaurant in Vermont) we were looking forward to our dinner at Fire and Ice. We were seated a small table in a dingy upstairs hallway which was creepy. The menu...was unimaginative and the food mediocre. The service was ok. Very disappointing, would not return.More

It's always good. The menu changes regularly which is nice. I haven't had something I haven't enjoyed.

I want to apologize! I wrote this really involved review, speaking to the details from the ambience of the indoors to the attention to detail and superb customer service, but this app crashed and it didn’t save my draft. Needless to say, don’t leave Vermont...without eating here!More

We were visiting our son and he suggested this restaurant for dinner. It was a first visit for all of us. I liked all the little nooks and crannies where people were seated and all the old photos and collectibles on the shelves. We didn't...have a reservation but were seated in a nook in the back of the restaurant and got attentive service. I had the meatloaf and it was a large serving so I ended up taking half of it home. It was very good. They had two kinds of parfaits for dessert. I enjoyed trying the maple parfait. Food was a bit pricey but my entree will provide two meals so it was worth it. I hope to return when we are visiting town again and try another dish. Servers and staff were all wearing masks and seating was socially distanced. Yoy may want to get a reservation during the Covid virus restrictions.More

On the plus side, lots of local regulars who seem happy and comfortable here. It's a tradition and Lord knows I have MY places I've gone to forever that a first-timer might try and ask, "Huh?" The food was good, but a little over-priced. Maybe...I expected too much from the hype. The salad bar was a real disappointment as I found it average quality and the breads - which looked good - cut and tasted stale. (The more desert-like apple cinnamon bread was fresh and good, though). Steak was cooked to order for me, my guest's scallops very underwhelming (I tired them and agrees). As a few others have mentioned, a dusting and dee clean of the space and the "museum" style decor is in order. As I said - I have old favorites in my hometown that would be reviewed, I suspect, just like this. But with eyes open and expecting more, I was disappointed. Will try it again, maybe more for a burger and beer at the bar.More

I quite often dine at Fire & Ice. The food is always excellent, great atmosphere and when you make reservations, they actually take you at the reserved time, regardless of how many customers are waiting. But this visit was the first time the experience was...than perfect. We were seated for the first time up on the balcony. The issue was there is a brass railing that is adjacent right next to the tables and it was, well, dirty and grimy. It did not accommodate the awesome meal and took away from the whole experience. We will go back, but we will sure not sit in the balcony area again.More

So thankful to the staff.... they made arrangements for our swim team parents to come late (past closing time) on several nights... they dealt with separate checks and all the chaos of a large group with grace and style. Pretty delicious food too! Excellent find!

Went after swim meet on Sunday night. Had a reservation and they were very accommodating. Server was fantastic. Although in theory they close at 9 pm, the kitchen stays open till 10 pm. Salad bar wonderful. Rated 4 stars as it is pricy for a...burger but that is Middlebury where most restaurants are overpriced. Great place to go on Sunday night when most everything else is closed down.More

We ordered the bourbon beef tips and the champagne chicken. Both were spectacular and the salad bar had great selections, although it costs extra. The chocolate milk(all you can drink) is from a local farm and is the best chocolate milk I have ever had,l...and fresh baked bread (all you can eat) which both are included at no extra charge. If your in the area it is certainly worth tryingMore
