We are parents of a Middlebury Senior and we're here in Middlebury to watch our son swim in his last collegiate swim meet. When we asked our son where we should eat dinner in Middlebury, he recommended his favorite restaurant - Taste of India. (Since...our hometown is in Silicon Valley, California, where lots of Indians live and where there are lots of Indian restaurants - we're very familiar with good Indian food.) What excellent food (both taste and quantity) at excellent prices! It's not a fancy place and it's not on Main Street, but it's very clean and close to downtown Middlebury. We're now looking forward to coming back to this restaurant in a few months when we are back for graduation.More

I've met my College Student daughter there on several occasions. Food is Excellent.! Dining room is nothing to write home about, but the service is very nice and the food can not be beat. Good view of the river.

Taste of India has the misfortune of being tucked away in a hidden corner off from Main St, but luckily the smells being pumped outside from their kitchen permeates the entire vicinity around the bridge allowing many to find their way there via just their...nose, even if they don't know about the place beforehand. Another one of my "must visit" restaurant recommendations for anyone, local or visitor. The prices are amazing, as well as the quality of the food. The staff is super friendly and conversational, and the service fast. An extensive menu has something for everyone. And I've heard from people from India that the authenticity is spot-on with it being some of the best Indian food they've had outside of India. Do yourself a favor and go!More

Lunch with family members who live in the area and who visit here often. Have been here multiple times with them and good food and service never disappoint. We have eaten Indian food at multiple places in several states and have enjoyed Taste of India...the best.More

It was the only (ethnic) place open on a Monday night, and we like Indian food. But the food was really disappointing. Really mediocre. They had no white meat in our two chicken dishes--I really dislike dark meat--and it tasted awful. Bad economy (dark meat...is cheaper than white, and they were just being cheap). Didn't seem very fresh. The waiter (who was the only waiter in the restaurant, and may have been the owner) was not very accommodating or courteous. He refused to substitute naan for the rice for one of the dishes. Also disappeared and took a while to bring the check. We're not going back there again!More

We were a large group and tried many of the dishes - all were delicious and very authentic. The owners and waiters are very friendly. Great location right in town.

Great smells as soon as you open the door. If you like Indian food, you won't be disappointed. Large open floor plan and this historic building in right on the Otter creek. I would say it's more of a river. We ordered a combo plate...for two with a variety of meats, vegetables, and sauces. Plenty of food and delicious too.More

The food in Taste of India gives a feeling of being out of Vermont. Especially good is the buffet on Sundays.

While I am happy that Middlebury has an authentic Indian restaurant, the setting feels a bit gloomy. The food is good but not exceptional. The servings are small for those with big appetites. I would return because I love Indian food and find the wait...staff friendly.More

We had lunch on a quiet Saturday later afternoon. The samosas were hot and spicy. The vindaloo had a citrus flavor which was fantastic. The naan was excellent, as was the coconut soup and the shrimp masala.
