This is a local gem that is open on Mondays! Very understaffed!!! Our server Jake had 8+ tables and was on the go the whole time! We waited at least 30 minutes for our plates to be cleared. Other parties waited an hour to get...their main dishes. Food was good, and you will not leave hungry! The cranberry fritters with maple butter was a sweet surprise! Despite the lack of help, we will return the next time we are in town.More

Our family gathering with 14 adults and 2 small children at this charming historic inn could not have been better. Weeks earlier, Michael, the owner, and I planned the "Yankee" dinner from the banquet menu. When we arrived he had custom printed menus on each...plate with a family personalization at the top. Our pre- dinner drinks and dinner service were deftly handled by our server Josie who could not have been more delightful or accommodating. We sat in a semi-private area so we could have little speeches. Being there early, other restaurant patrons were seated in other rooms so our area was very private. Our meals were well prepared, tasty, hot and delicious, followed by a coffee/tea service served with warm cranberry apple crisp. The children had booster seats and food from their own menu. The Inn staff was also flexible with the dinner start as we were not sure when our memorial service would be over. Dining at Ye Olde Tavern was a wonderful experience. We would not hesitate to host another gathering there in the future.More

Third visit over the years. The food and service are very good. The ambience is phenomenal for early American history nerds (you know... like me). A tavern built in the late 1700s for the coach service. Their "specialty" is an amuse-bouche (don't you love Wikipedia)...of cranberry fritters served with maple butter. Fortunately only two per person or you'd have to leave in a wheelbarrow. The menu is varied focused naturally on American style cuisine. A definite go-to.More

Quiet quaint friendly and really good food. This can be a treat yourself for a special occasion. Only one draft beer choice, an amber ale, but it was good. A lot of maple used in cooking…will never make squash again without maple.More

The best we can hope for is a word of mouth recommendation, or in this case one done on a large platform like TripAdvisor. Many thanks for that and of course spending an evening at our historic tavern. We look forward to many more visits....More

From the minute you enter you are thrown back in time with the warped original floors to the small door frames from back in the day to the antique artifacts throughout. they have small amounts of seating in individual rooms which truly allows for a...cozy setting. We sat right next to the fireplace in the "tavern" side. Now to the food... it was DELICIOUS! The breads and maple butter to start as you perused the menu was terrific. The menu was full of comfort style dinners and some wonderful specialty items. WE were cold so we ordered the chicken pot pie ( more like a shepards pie) and the pot roast. They were both simply divine. Even the veggies with the maple butter was an extra hit. then dessert.... oh my. I got the chocolate bombe... chocolate cake with chocolate sauce flambe with grand marnier!! save room its worth it! we also got the cheesecake which was alos wonderful. I cant highly recommend enough to make sure you have a least one dinner here....More

So happy I made reservations for my husband's 60th birthday dinner here St.Patrick's Day. They were very busy and of course served Corned Beef as a special that day. I chose Stuffed Mushrooms and the Blackberry-glazed Duck Flambe. Amazingly good. My husband had Shrimp Cocktail...and a Lobster & Shrimp Alfredo which was packed with chunks of lobster. Before dinner we were served cranberry fritters with their homemade maple butter (you can buy a jar too.). They presented my husband with a little scroll thanking him for spending his special day with them. The restaurant was built in 1790 and has changed hands over the years, but the 18th century has been preserved. Cozy with a friendly staffMore

I was not thrilled with my dinner the other night. The steak with onions and mushrooms was dry--mostly the onion/mushroom combo was dry....did not complement the steak well--maybe some sort of gravy-type liquid with it? My son's pot roast was unfortunately very institutional-tasting. The Tom...turkey was a bit dry and the pot pie also lacked in complexity and flavor. Having said that we love the staff and the building itself. Top honors to staff and location.More
