Dinner at Ye Old Tavern is always great with the entire family. Taste New England fair like Chicken Pie, Prime Rib, & Venison your way. Take your time and enjoy an old fashioned cocktail.

The ambience is historic and very interesting. It's like eating alongside tables full of colonial politicians and revolutionary war heroes. The food however is a different story. Other than the duck entrées, the food was average and unexciting. Pork chop was tough and over salted, fish dishes overcooked and bland. Vegtable sides and potatoes were cool and visually unappealing.Definitely eat... More

Dinner began with cranberry scones and maple butter, which could be a dessert option they were so tasty! Then we had Caesar salads, which were very good. For entrees, my husband ordered the special, steak tips with mushrooms in a Bordelaise sauce, which was scrumptious, and I ordered the sirloin, which I found to be a bit fatty, but was... More

It was good, but not as great as advertised. The waitress was very nice, but the food was just so-so. The drinks had a funny taste perhaps because of the ice.

Our Northshire Bookstore Mystery and Thriller Book Group met here for dinner and discussion of our August book. There were 15 people who attended and I cannot say enough good things about how we were treated. We had a room to ourselves and since we met at 5PM we qualified for the Early Bird Specials. That menu was extensive with... More

Atmosphere was very cozy. Waitress was adorable. Food left a lot to be desired. If a chef doesn't know how to make a bouillabaisse, he shouldn't put it on the menu. We asked for aioli sauce which is a standard accompaniment to this dish and we were told they didn't have it. That's all I have to say!

Denise, Thanks for your visit and I am happy you enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and adorable server. Regarding the Bouillabaisse, this is certainly surprising to hear. We would never want to give a guest anything less than an amazing experience. I have looked up the recipe in several classic recipe books and yes some recipes call for aioli and some... More

Had dinner as couple with their earlybird special. The famed apple fritters were great, as was the bread, salads, entrees (chicken "pot pie" [really a great chicken casserole] and pork loin), lobster bisque (yum!!) and deserts. Only thing less than perfect was the special escargot appetizer that was heavy on the wine and light on the butter, and was accompanied... More

When service and kitchen are in perfect harmony, some incredible results are produced, and I'm happy to hear you felt that way during your visit. Customer feedback is very important to us and I will discuss your comments regarding the escargot with the Chef. I would love nothing more than to have another opportunity for you to visit us again.... More

We stopped in for dinner at this historic tavern. We found the decor charming, the name kitch, and the food so so. The cranberry fritters were chewy and my pot roast was just meat and gravy. The meat was done well. A fish Bouillabaisse was fish with a tomato sauce. With this great location a step up on the cooking... More
