The Silver Fork has a very interesting and varied menu representing numerous cuisines and a blend of cuisines. The food is well prepared and tasty while the service is attentive and helpful but not overbearing. The special cocktails are creative and the wine by the glass option is quite extensive.
Since the restaurant is quite small, six tables and six stools for dining at the bar, reservations well in advance are necessary.

Just reopened in the fabulous old Manchester Library, with a magnificent towering ceiling, amazing architecture with pink granite walls and enormous windows. The bar is also beautiful. And then there is the Octagon Room, which seats about 9 and provides a private dining space. Check out the furnishings from the 60’s and the Art- all tastefully integrates.
But the best part is still the food, which hasn’t missed a beat. Easily the best meal in Manchester, likely all of Southern Vermont. Melody hosts while her husband Mark is the Chef - and his amazing artistry with flavors and dishes is unsurpassed.
For years there small location up the street was booked often a month or more in advance. Now with more tables, a spectacular setting and the same great food, this is the goto place in the area. Bravo! For having the courage to expand and take the restaurant to new heights as we all battle Covid.

The sommelier gave us great advice for choosing wine, which was affordable. We enjoyed appetizers of tuna carpaccio, crab salad with fried plantains, and shitake mushrooms. Our mains were crab cakes and salmon strudel, both outstanding. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we ordered the brownie--YUM. The new location has windows all around, and a view of the mountain which can't be matched. The owner Melody was hands on in the restaurant and meeting guests. We visited the restaurant after hiking Styles Peak. Our waiter even gave us advice on a restaurant to visit when we return to Iowa. Our day in the Manchester area was exceptional, mostly due to The Silver Fork.

The service, food and ambiance are all just top notch here. We love the intimacy of this restaurant. I ordered the shrimp and said I wanted a glass of wine with my dinner to which our server replied, "Let me bring you tastes of my two favorites for that dish". Her suggestions were spot on. I had the Gavi, drier of the two choices, which was a perfect accompaniment to the meal. All four of us had different entrees. Each was fully enjoyed. We shared bread pudding for dessert, very yummy. Had we more space available in our bellies, we would have had the floating mango dessert too. It looked amazing!
Melody and Mark are a great team and have excellent servers. We are so happy we were able to return after a few years and enjoy another outstanding meal here. We hope the Silver Fork continues to thrive for many more years. Definitely worth a special trip!

This place was recommended by everyone. it only have 6 tables and like 5 seats at the bar, we were very lucky to grab the last 2 seats at the bar. The food is delicious, our server was super nice and very knowledgeable of the food and wine. She was happy to talk with us and told us about her and her husband, who also work there, great couple.

My onion soup, which was scrumptious, came with small scissors to cut those strings of cheese that stretch like rubber bands. That level of attention to detail was carried out in the presentation of our dinners and desserts. The gran Marnier swan is way over the top and worth its weight in calories. It's sad to lose the library but The Silver Fork is beautifully designed to suit the space; I would call the decor rustic ambiance and recommend the restaurant unreservedly.

This was our first visit to the new location and it did not disappoint. Everything was as good as we remembered from our last pre COVID restaurant dinner. The new venue is very spacious and the decor is attractive, highlighted by artwork provided by the Southern Vermont Art Center.
We had a wonderful meal starting with cocktails and finishing with desserts. My daiquiri was the best I have had in a long time. Each dish was delicious, perfectly seasoned and presented with a flair. It is clear that the management team understands how to make your dining experience memorable and has trained the wait staff to cater to the customer.

Exceptional doesn't do this place justice. So many places are unforgettable, but everything is memorable at The Silver Fork. The interior is absolute perfection with a harmonious blend of comfort and high 60's glam. It is a feast of the eyes even before you taste what comes out of the kitchen. The odd menu makes total sense when you have the chance to chat with the owner. It is a rare moment to be able to taste the true passion of a chef in his food without those pretentious overtones that are all too common. His food is executed in such a way you will still taste it in your mind the next day and want more. He is an artist. Finally, the front of house team. Absolute professionals that work in unison with the kitchen and support the patrons as if they were also the owners. They are exceptional. What we ate: olive tapenade, escargot, tuna carpaccio, crab cake, weinerschnitzel, bread pudding.

In Manchester Vermont for a few days of skiing and my daughter and made last minute reservations at Silver Fork for an early Tuesday night dinner. We wound up having one of the most amazing culinary experiences either of us can remember.... ever. From the moment we opened the doors to the impeccably renovated & modern styled old Skinner Library, we knew we were in for a special meal. Our hostess could not have been more welcoming and our server Jake expertly guided us through the creative and refreshing menu on a journey that began with Goat Cheese Soufflé with Chutney and Homemade Melba Toast (could eat this everyday) and Asparagus with Prosciutto, Puff Pastry and Hollandaise Sauce. We then, at Jakes recommendation ordered the Bolognese & Weinerschnitzel with Warm German Potato Salad. Having an Italian wife who makes what we have always considered the best tasting bolognese hands down, now has formidable competition. The best way to describe great tasting bolognese is you will know it when you taste it. We tasted it at Silver Fork! The shaved roasted garlic and the razor thin sliced onion subtlely complimented every single delicious bite and had us making the dangerous comparison to moms recipe. Then there is the Weinerschnitzel. Hands down it will reframe everything you have ever known about what Weinerschnitzel should look and taste like. If a dream could be pounded thin and lightly fried to perfection, well....you get the idea. Finally there is the Caribbean Bread Pudding Soufflé. No matter what you do, make sure you order this for the table. Its dense, warm, crispy almond and powdered sugar outer layer hides pure bread pudding decadence that is brought to life with the accompaning Coconut Creme Anglaise served in a fresh cracked half coconut shell. Not sure what else to say but thank you to Melody, Mark, Jake and the rest of the SF crew for one of the most memorable dinners we have ever had.

This place is fantastic! With recipes from around the world you can find something truly spectacular. Make sure to study the menu on line before you go. The wines are also excellent, hard to find, and at reasonable prices. The desserts are first rate , two of which require 30 minute advance ordering so get the dessert menu with the regular menu.
The ambiance is terrific and you feel great the moment you sit down.
Please note it is small and requires advance reservations but worth the trouble.
The meal my wife and I had was the best we have had in years.

$27.00 for a cocktail. It's true. I was surprised as well and that's my beef with this restaurant. This restaurant's drink menu offers their version of a Vermont Manhattan made with maple liqueur. No thanks. When I asked the bartender if he could make a classic Manhattan he asked what bourbon I'd like and showed me a menu. I normally order a rye Manhattan but no ryes were on the menu. When I asked about the Whistle Pig listed as a bourbon I was told that it was in fact rye, even though it was among the list of bourbons. So I ordered one. It was good. However, when I received my $150.00 + bill I was charged $27.0for this one drink. Nowhere, not on the menu and not from the bartender, was there any information that the price of this drink would be so excessive. When we questioned the bartender he seemed clueless and couldn't offer a reasonable explanation and there was no mention of this inflated price on their menu nor were we informed. A $27.00 Whistle Pig Manhattan is highway robbery and far out of line with pricing structure for the exact same drink - a Whistlepig Manhattan - at other fine dining restaurants in the region whose prices range from $14.00 to $18.00. This restaurant's lack of transparency is contemptible and marred an otherwise celebratory occasion.

We walked into this larger but still intimate former library to be seated and served one of the best meals of the last few decades.
Joan had escargot and then an unequalled Maryland crab cake. I had the goat cheese souffle with chutney jam and Wienerschnitzel and warm German potato salad, with a very good and reasonably priced bottle of wine, followed by a shared bread pudding. I do not like bread pudding but, as we were told, it was another masterpiece, like all which had come before.
it is a three hour trip, but we will be back soon.

We were in Manchester for the weekend just to get away. While in our room we googled local restaurants to see who was still open. After reviewing the menus online we opted for the Silver Fox. Great atmosphere, great service but even better taking criticism. My Fiance's dinner was amazing but mine was very disappointing. When I shared this with our server he brought the hostess to our table and I shared my opinion with her. She shared this with the chef who was not surprised with my opinion due to not be trained in Italian cuisine. This is a professional who doesn't take it personally. Needless to say my meal was removed from our bill. Due to this professional act and understanding we will be back, I will just order something else.

This was our 2nd trip to The Silver Fork. We haven’t been to Manchester in 4-5 years and it was even better than our last trip. The food is amazing and the chef’s wife is so warm and welcoming. It was lovely speaking with her while having some of the best food we’ve ever had. My husband had the crab cakes and I had the salmon puff pastry. The icing on the cake is the Caribbean bread pudding. It is probably the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life. Please make sure you leave enough room for it. I swore on our last trip I was going to have my own and not share, and that’s exactly what I did!

We've had the privilege of dining at the Silver Fork since 2013. The food is wonderfully creative and superbly prepared, the service is excellent yet warm, fun and friendly. Last night was our first chance to dine in their new location of the old Library. The make over they did is fabulous, kind of a modernistic retro look that somehow is a quintessential type of eclectic that is so at home in Vermont. It's elegant, laid back and very spacious with beautiful views of Mt Equinox. Everything else, the food, the cocktails, the service all remain the same and better. My wife had the three cheese French onion soup which she says now has ruined the possibility of ever having onion soup anywhere else! It's served with scissors to cut the long strands of sumptuous cheese as you pull out your spoon. I had mushroom risotto which was creamy and rich without being overpowering, laden with mushroom flavor and sprinkled with assorted slightly crisp sautéed mushrooms that added a light crunch. Devine! We're so happy to see this wonderful spot thriving. Can't wait until we come back to Manchester and dine there again.
