About
This imaginative restaurant, opened in 1981, is housed in a 35 ton circa 1900 railroad snowplow car that for years kept the snowdrifted tracks of New England clear and safe until is was sidelined by a derailment.Casey's Caboose takes it's name and cue from the Cannonball Express run by that famous engineer Casey Jones, whose locomotive was barrelling down the tracks in 1900 when a stalled freight train came into view. "JUMP! JUMP!" Casey ordered his crew, though he remained at the controls in an attempt to avoid disaster. Casey Jones met his own demise that day, but his legend lives on in our remarkable eatery. This is a restaurant the whole family will find fun because every bit of it is unexpected. You can dine in a raised observation deck where the engineer directed the train as it plowed the tracks or ask to be seated by the long bank of windows with a full view of Killington.

Casey’s is one of only a few restaurants currently open for takeout and so, while we’re not regular Casey’s diners, we’ve taken out a few dinners to give support. We had burgers a few weeks ago that were really good (I had a burger with bacon while my wife had the lamb burger, both with fries) and last night we feasted on fried fish and seafood. I had the seafood platter and my wife had the fish and chips. Both provided more food than we needed with the accompanying fries and coleslaw and my wife raved about the homemade tartar sauce. We’ll be ordering again as long as restaurants remain closed and will begin to eat in when full service again becomes available.

While visiting Killington VT, my wife and I found that many restaurants were either closed or on reduced hours, so it was a relief last Saturday to discover Casey's Caboose was open (at 2pm; fine for a late lunch). My wife had a special Fourth of July burger and said it was very good. I had a pastrami reuben sandwich and really enjoyed it, as well as excellent french fries. Our server "Duffy" was masked but attentive, and the prices were reasonable. I would not hesitate to go to Casey's again.

Casey’s is my daughter’s favorite place to go for multiple reasons. The former caboose has cool decor and nooks and crannies that house cool little personal dining spaces. We always get the same super friendly waiter whose name is Duffy and makes us laugh a bunch. The food is delish, faves for us are the fish and chips with hunky cod, homemade pastrami Reuben on marble rye (to die) and the Halloumi Greek salad with Arugula. Also not to be missed are the homemade to order chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth. They take a while to make so order them while you are having dinner. Tonight we were also waited on by the manager Mike who was super welcoming and hooked us up with some absolutely mouth watering Bavarian hot pretzels with stone ground mustard and beer cheese, yum!!! We will always make Casey’s one of our dinner stops when visiting Killington!

Went here based on the overall good reviews. The waitstaff was friendly but not very helpful (when asked about the style of a couple of beers listed on the chalkboard she stated that she didn't drink beer so she really didn't know - and she did seem at all interested in finding out). The hot pretzels were actually pretty good. The rest of the meal was really disappointing, however. The hamburger (their specialty) was tough and overcooked. It may be an expensive (touristy) area but if I am paying $19 for a burger I expect the meat to be halfway decent and for the thing to be cooked the way I ordered it. The fries were lukewarm. The french onion soup was inedible. The 'loaded' baked potato only had cheese on it and was overcooked. The fish and chips was way too greasy.

This is quite disappointing and we've discussed this with our group. I'm very sensitive to those that have not had a great experience as the vast majority of our guests really do. I am very sorry and have a range of excuses I'd love to throw out to you to somehow justify your time with us, but I think we are better than that. Please contact me at the restaurant at your conveniene, 802-422-3795 so I can learn a bit more as well as offer a refund or a repeat visit on us! Michael

I cannot speak about the food, but the service at the front door was pretty bad. Its understood that we are in Covid times, and eating out is simply more difficult. We arrived the evening of March 31, and when asking for a table, the man basically snapped at us, told us it would be a 1.5 hour wait and basically shoed us out of the door. I should have expected this, because he did the same thing to the gentleman in front of us who also appeared a bit surprised being treated this way. Its understood that you might have to wait this long to be seated, but the tone and the way this was all handled at the front door was very poor. I contrast that with every other restaurant we visited at Killington and also had to wait to be seated at some, but it was handled in a nice manner and wasnt a problem. Plenty of other nice places to eat at Killington,

First time eating on site rather than takeout over the past several months. My wife and I met up with out of town friends for dinner last night and, even with current restrictions, all went well. We were able to easily make reservations a day ahead for outdoor seating so that was a plus for sure. Walked in with masks on, staff was fully masked, and we were quickly led to our table. Water was brought in plastic cups, adult beverages served the same way. Only one set of paper menus so we had to pass it around among four of us. One per couple would’ve been better. Two new items on the menu - venison burger with bbq sauce and mushrooms, and a salmon burger. I had the venison while my wife had the salmon. Our friends both chose the blue cheese burger. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent as well. Two for one burger night made it all the better. We’ll be back again soon.

We had some difficulty finding restaurants that were open. We stumbled upon Casey’s and stopped in. We arrived at 1:45 and they do not open until 2. They accommodated us anyway, which we appreciated. There were seven of us so we had to put the tables together. The guy that was helping us was very patient! We ordered drinks and got settled. Our waiter greeted us shortly after and we ordered lunch. Several of us asked for changes on what we were ordering and our server was a good sport about it all! We all enjoyed our meal and we were happy with our choice. The one thing that was a little disappointing was, once we were done, it took forever to get our check.

AS we entered we were immediately greeted by Michael who took us to our table. Kat was right over to take our drink order and Duffy told her exactly how we liked them. This restaurant doesn't bring your drink and then take your order, giving you time to enjoy your cocktail. At just the right time she came over for our order, I ordered the scallop platter and Mrs. B ordered the fish and chips. Both were outstanding, hot and delicious. The fries are among the best I've ever had. Kat checked on us periodically throughout the meal, along with the manager. This says a lot during this time where it is difficult to get workers. I strongly urge making a reservation as this restaurant is highly popular because of the food quality and excellent service. Dog friendly on the enclosed porch area and they have a dog menu.

Super easy to place order online and get curbside takeout. My husband and I both had the chicken sandwich, which was delicious and the fries were crispy which is hard to get when you have takeout. We also had takeout a couple of months ago that was equally tasty. My daughter had the grilled Caesar salad, I had a meatloaf special, that I hope they put on the menu! Looking forward to trying more things on the menu throughout the winter!

We dined at Casey's over the holiday weekend. They were very busy and did a great job. Everything we ordered was delicious, great service and the beer list was full of great choices with a ton of great Vermont beer. We will be back!

The burger was juicy, cooked to order, and done for an allergy sensitive person. Very accommodating on that. The root beer is the best we ever had and strawberry biscuit dessert with real cream was excellent. Presentation was beautiful. Duffy was an excellent and attentive server. I'd put the attention to your table on par with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Also, check out the rail cars. There are several cool little nooks for kids to eat! I wish I was a kid....

After a long hike, we decided to take a shot at Casey’s Caboose, for a burger and a beer. We had never been there before, but after today’s great meal, friendly service and overall great experience, we will be back. From the greeting at the door from Emily, to the great and friendly service by Dennis, we enjoyed every minute. I enjoyed a cold Fiddle Head IPA along with my Casey's Bayley Bleu Burger. My wife enjoyed Who said, CLUCK? Casey's Chicken — A Lovingly prepared fresh teriyaki chicken breast with red onion served on our locally baked roll with Thai slaw. Our server, Dennis, was fun and welcoming, and Emily- what a great personality and ohhh so cute. I don’t often give 5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ but these guys earned them and deserve that recognition. Thanks foe a fun time amid great food.

This place has gone through some transitions over the past few years including being closed for a while. We had dinner, mushroom risotto and a French dip. The sandwich very good, the risotto, amazing. Every restaurant is dealing with staffing shortages, Casey's has taken a team service approach, which only works with full staff buy-in. They did it, Duffy was the lead but whoever was delivering drinks, food or checking is acted like we were their guests. Whatever needed done at any table, any staff member jumped in to help. A great way of dealing with the current staffing issues, if you have the good people to pull it off.

We have had take-out, and also eaten at the restaurant. It is especially nice during the warmer weather to eat outside. The staff make an extra effort to be sure that their customers have been well served. The meals I have had included spare ribs (the meat falls off the bone), specialty hamburger, lobster roll. And don’t forget the pie! A giant slice! Excellent!

As we entered we were warmly greeted and taken to our table. Michael, the general manager, had our usual table prepared for us. Duffy was right over to the table to take our drink order. Riley our server stopped by and asked if the drinks were good, They were perfect. Noah, who served us earlier in the week also stopped by to say "Welcome Back", The servers here look after each others table ensuring great service. I had the scallops with risotto and pieces of lobster, Mrs., B had her favorite Casey's Maryland Burger. Everything was perfectly cooked. It's rated number one because it has the best service, food, and atmosphere. When dining at their outdoor covered table you can bring your dog and the have a doggy menu.
