It's off season here at Smuggler's Notch Resort where we are staying for a week. All of the restaurants on site are closed, so we had to venture out for dinner on the nights we didn't stay in to cook. So few restaurants are open in the area at this time of year that I honestly didn't expect much. We came upon this place simply because it was close and open. Boy did we ever stumble upon a gem! We liked it so much that we came twice during our week's stay here. The atmosphere is very casual and you wouldn't expect the food to be chef-prepared. The menu offered a nice variety and there were nightly specials that we opted to order on both nights. They did not disappoint. It should also be noted that the service was great both nights. Our servers were knowledgeable about the menu and were very friendly. Hats off to them and the chef!

I had the salmon special which was excellent. The lemon pepper salmon was not quite as good but had potential. It was a busy night as most of the other restaurants in the area are closed on Monday and Tuesday but the staff was very pleasant as they tried to accommodate their guests. Very local place with a real heart so I encourage you to try it. We will be back!!

Our compliments to the chef for delicious food from a menu that is varied for all palettes! We dined twice sampling apps, vegetarian offerings and scrumptious entrees. The risotto done to perfection, as well as tuna steak. Crab cakes were served with fresh tomatoes; please to taste as well as wonderful presentation! The local beer selection is great!l. Definitely a comfortable place with lots of delightful delicious menu surprises! Close to Smudges! Our compliments to the owner and staff during these different times in the restaurant business.

Second time for this restaurant, after covid. Had reservation, but even then the wait for geeting one appetizer was close to 40 inutes, and other tables were clearly waiting, one with small kids were playing cards. I understand that it is hard times and hard to get personel, but it would have been nice to know as seated that it would take a long time. Once the food came it was quite nice and the staff friendly. We will be back.

This place is informal however the presentation is classy. I had salmon grilled to perfection, real mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli and carrots. My husband had beef tips with vegetables and rice. We both had fresh baked bread. We are in Stowe for a week and will be going back in to martells in three days. We have eaten in several places in Stowe and none begin to compare with the meal served here. And I will add the prices are reasonable. Suggest reservations.

Came twice during our one week at Smugglers Notch Resort. First time had pork loin which was good but couldn’t call sauce Marsala imho. Second time had a fettuccine Alfredo special with Cajun Chicken which was very good. My husband had salmon with pesto Cream sauce over fettuccine both times. He thought it was better the first time. Reasonable prices For the area. Service is good but food comes out very slow so either have an appetizer or be prepared to wait.

The worst restaurant experience I have ever had. This was our 3rd time at the Red Fox but we will not be returning. We arrived at 3 pm on Sunday for an early dinner and was seated in the middle of the dining room in front of an active air conditioner. (In October??) It was freezing. The server did not come back for a while, so I went to the wait station to ask if we could move and we were told to sit anywhere. It was better, but still cold. I walked over to the a/c unit and it was set for 60 degrees and the fan was on high. We left our coats on an noticed that the other patrons all had their coats on, some had hats on too. After ten minutes a waitress came by and asked for if anyone had helped us. We ordered. I wanted a cocktail but ordered hot tea as it was still really cold. Our drinks came. We then waited and waited, still feeling very cold. After about 30 minutes I asked the server why the a/c was on and she said the servers were hot from running around. (there were 3 servers and 6 tables of customers when we were sat) I pointed out that everyone in the room had coats on. The server was clearly irritated but turned down the a/c. We continued to wait for our food and noticed that two other tables that seated after we did were enjoying their meals. We continued to wait. We became very annoyed and realized at this point we would never enjoy our meal so we got up and paid for our drinks. Just then, the waitress brought out our food out of the kitchen I have to wonder if it was sitting there and she wasn't bringing it to us because we had complained about the a/c. Regardless, we left. Why be in business if you just don't care???

Terrible service and awful food. This place took 30 mins to serve up appetizers and a salad when there were very few other tables in. The food was tasteless and honestly like the chef has given up. I would have given zero stars if that were possible.

My husband and I brought our son to Smugglers Notch for a quick getaway. This restaurant was close by, and accommodating with reservation time, so we decided to try it. It is on the smaller side, but comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff - perfect for a dinner after skiing all day. The food is excellent! I had the blackened chicken Alfredo, and it may be one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had at a restaurant. My husband had the jambalaya and enjoyed it. Would absolutely eat here again.

Just had an excellent dinner in an informal setting. Difficult to choose from the menu. I had a delicious shrimp scampi with a nicely-seasoned Asiago risotto and my husband enjoyed his house made pulled pork nachos. I couldn’t help taking a taste or two. Memorable. We started with a very good Caesar salad. Definitely worth a visit.

This was our first time at Martell's just two miles from smugglers notch where we stayed.Even on a Tuesday evening in quiet week there was several people and a good atmosphere. Food was nice. Obviously a music place, had a small stage for live music use for certain evenings.Would certainly go there again.

Barely off the scenic route between Stowe and Jeffersonville, this place is a gem. One might wonder whether to order the seafood, in the woods of northern Vermont. Be sure to order the seafood...and anything else. They have the freshest seafood...and the kitchen honors it. They honor all the ingredients, seafood, meat, vegetables, prepared to gourmet level but at incredibly fair prices. Don't miss the turn-off on Route 108 and don't miss Martell's.

We stopped here for lunch with friends and enjoyed it very much. The food is good and they have a number of local Vermont brews on tap. It was not busy when we had lunch there so it was nice to be able to talk and not have to yell as you do in some places. The tables were spread apart enough so that you didn't feel crowded. Worth the visit.

There were four of us and we all had wonderful meals. My sister Wendy had the vegetable stir fry with brown rice and added chicken, my brother-in-law Ernie had pork schnitzel, my husband Jim had the sesame ahi tuna, and I had the beef steak tips and they let me switch it to have the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini with asiago cheese and herbs (this usually comes with the grilled Delmonico steak meal). Again we all enjoyed our meals very much and would recommend this restaurant if you want a delicious meal.

When my group of friends go out to eat we typically choose Martell's at the Red Fox. We are always assured of a tasty meal and great service. Their menu has a little something for everyone and many times I choose one or two of their appetizers for the main meal. All their meals have generous portions. I usually go out for an evening meal but recently took advantage of their lunch only menu. The Reuben sandwich was great - the meat, sauerkraut, and dressing done in-house. I would definitely recommend Martell's to anyone visiting in the area.
