Very disappointing. Got the shrimp and scallop basket. Around 20 dollars. There was 3 shrimp and 3 scallops. The Cole slaw container was opened so the roll was all wet. Guess I will be going to the fish place on Williston Road or Shanty on...the Shore in the future.More
We ordered takeout to be picked up at the window was told 20 mins after 35 mins I called to check my order and was ask to wait just a minute so he could check. He came back and said they were taking it to...the window. So we picked it up and opened the containers to eat. Well to our surprise it was cold. Obviously it had sat while we waited for them to come to the window. Pretty sure we were forgotten. Also after we got home we looked at the slip and we were charged all most 10 bucks more than the cost of the food on their website. And no it wasn't tax because I had that figured in too. So no I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I am sure that I won't be going back.More
This is an a great fresh seafood market and casual dine in restaurant together. I had a bowl of clam chowder loaded with clams. I also shared a fried seafood platter with my mother. It was huge! We were stuffed snd couldn’t even finish. Great...quality seafood. It was lightly breaded and expertly cooked.More
We’ve been going to Rays for years, but this visit I was shocked to see how much their prices have risen. We got take out this trip and both had the smaller portion “mates” fried scallops. We had potato wedges (other choices baked or fries)...and cole slaw. The price is now $19.95 for this. Plus the food was so-so. Scallops a bit under cooked, wedges cold and cole slaw, which was decent as usual. There is no atmosphere here if you eat in. I am very disappointed and will likely frequent this restaurant rarely, if at all now. As a comparison I can go to Shanty on the Shore, in Burlington, and for a normal sized dinner you can get fried scallops and shrimp for $22 and they have a nice atmosphere on Lake Champlain. It’s a bit farther from our house but a much better deal.More
We get takeout from here relatively frequently as well as dining in. This is not the place for ambiance but generally the fish is good and fresh. I do think they are overpriced. They charge for extra tartar sauce and sour cream which I think...is greedy. On this visit I gad fried haddock which was quite good and my wife gad fried scallops. She bit into some pretty heavy duty sand/stone or something a couple times. One time I could hear it across the room. This is unusual.More
Was so excited to try since this is one of the only seafood in town.
But the quality and taste of food was not good.
We ordered Bakes seafood platter, Haddock mate, crab cake, stuffed mushroom and all was disappointing.
Portion and quality of the...seaffod platter for 30 usd had small shrimp, small scallops, and small haddock. Both haddock in the mate and baked meat was mushy. It seems that its not fresh. The crab cake - was really terrible.
Sorry but not recommending this place, unless they make significant improvementMore
We tried Ray's because we saw that it had a rating of "Very Good". As I read reviews after our visit I saw that the last one posted was from a year ago: live and learn. We were disappointed. I ordered fried calamari which was...overcooked to the point of being inedible. I would have complained but, when I went to the counter to request the potato which had had been left off my plate, I observed that the staff was tied up in a dispute with another guest who had numerous problems with his order. We had tickets to a show and could not wait around but, from what I overheard while waiting at the counter, I doubt that any complaint would have been taken seriously. My husband ordered fried fish which was mediocre as was the soupy coleslaw. He ended up with an upset stomach later that evening so I guess that I should be thankful that I threw out 75% of my fried calamari and coleslaw and only ate a lukewarm baked potato. There were some people there who seemed to be enjoying their meals but we certainly had a poor experience.More
