We ordered oysters on the half shell, calamari, clam chowder, baked haddock and grilled seafood platter. It was all delicious. Lauren, our waiter, did a very nice job.

Was there twice, first night in Burlington and last. The fried shrimp and scallops was really good. My husband had the shrimp scampi which was a little different from how we make it, but he ate it all. Loved the clam chowder bread bowls. Those...are almost a meal in themselves. Very attentive wait staff. View is great and unfortunately due to the weather both times ( rain and wind) we were unable to partake of the deck. Limited parking out front but a few spaces down around back. Hopefully you don't get stuck with the pay lot.More
From out of town. Had the 3 pound lobster!! It was huge and delicious. My family member had lobster. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent! Will definitely be back next time I’m in town
Lovely view of Lake Champlain and great food. The Cesar Salad with Ahi was perfectly dressed and the Sauvignon Blanc was served in a proper glass. Very nice oyster bar as well.
On a beautiful day we searched for a place with a view. This restaurant delivers that for sure. What it doesn’t particularly deliver on is the food, unfortunately. We had oysters on the half shell first. Although the oysters themselves were fairly good but they...were not shucked very well and they had a bit of shell left in them. At $3.50 per oyster I expected them to be better. We then ordered one of the house “specialty’s” broiled platter with haddock, shrimp and scallops. It had panko crumbs on the top which completely absorbed any sauce that might have been there. The side vegetables of squash were equally undesirable with no flavor and dry. I would go here again for a drink and the view but definitely not for the food. It was disappointing because with better food this restaurant would be incredible.More
In the Waterfront District, a short walk from the superb Echo Science Museum/:Center., off Battery Street.Shanty is n the Shore has plentiful indoor and outdoor seating, with views of Lake Champlain and the waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. Menu has enough choices, with lots of...fish possibilities, salads, etc. We ordered the haddock with baked potato, and salmon with jasmine rice. Fish was ok, but haddock was swimming in too much butter. Next time will ask more questions so it can be prepared to my liking- I’m sure they can accommodate. In house chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream was delish in a generous portion. Cheese cake slice was small but tasty.More
We enjoyed a fun Sunday night dinner including the Paella special. The staff are friendly and professional.
I had the best scallops I’ve had in years. Also had fried scallops which were very good too. We were fortunate to eat on the deck on a warm sunny April afternoon. The service was just right.
Used to love this place. But this time they had a very limited lunch menu; the Cajun Blackened Salmon was not offered (tho it appears in the menu on their site). On the plus side the clam chowder is delicious, service is friendly and efficient...and the view is amazing. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips tho the fries were not hot. I opted for the mussels; they were good but the advertised basil consisted of one small shred plus a stem. The tomatoes were pink and watery and the purported garlic was flavorless.More
We stayed in Burlington before and after a leaf peeping fall foliage road trip. It was so good that we went back several times. The seafood is incredibly fresh. The salmon baked in maple syrup is an absolute must! Good attentive service, great food and...beautiful sunsets at dinner time.More
Nice evening, walked down to the Shanty with grandkids and daughter in law. Ate outside on the deck. Beautiful night. Overlooking the lake. We tried the chowder cup which was thick and delicious. Lots of clams. Fried calamari was a big hit as were the...mussels. Only issue I had was that there wasn't enough butter or oil in the mix of the mussels. The juice around the mussels was a little too tart for me. Mussels themselves were terrific. Nice order of fish and chips was copious and tasty. Two fish tacos and a chicken parmesan meal rounded out the ticket. Some lemonade and sierra mist took care of the grandkids while we enjoyed a gin and tonic and a Switchback Ale. Service was great, provided by Kelli J. Can't say enough about the place and the food.More
Loved watching the sunset on the deck with my parents + little ones. Very friendly service and good environment with nice people.
The building is set over a dirt parking lot so is it's raining you're going to be bringing in mud into your car. Although not right on the water it does have views of the lake. The place is busy even during the week and...the menu shows a lot of favorites. However, the clam chowder was excellent but we did not enjoy the clam strips (too dry and over-fried). The Lobster Roll was just OK. We wouldn't rush over here again unsless we had no other alternatives.More
Whole belly clams were overcooked, completely dried out , dark brown. Very disappointing. Never going back.
Good scallops, good clam chowder, good large summer salad. Friendly waitress! Nice view from outdoor patio. Vermont beer on draft.
