although my brother lived and worked in BUrlington for years, this place wasn't around when he did...but our daughter just went there recently and recommended this. This is kind of a cool take on the french bistro; although we sat outside the inside looked true...to type, but there's no molecular gastronomy here; the portions are large and the food, service, etc are terrific. Outdoor seating is right on Church Street pedestrianized area. It was cool, so bring a blanket. Kerosene heaters didn't quite do the trick. Place was not overly obsessed with the whole COVID hysteria although we did have to sign a registry. Terrific friendly and helpful servers. Mid range to expensive, but worth it because of the quality and quantity. Unlike most restaurants i review, where i've already forgotten what I had, i have the receipt, so... We started with "duck frites". Now, coming from 20 years in Portland, ME, to us that meant fries in duck fat. Uh, no. It was basically, let's see...fried duck fingers or tenders, with a great dipping sauce. I mean, a place of nicely fried duck (I think with a graham cracker crust?) for $13? Who knew. Good way to start. I tend to have Caesar salads whenever i eat out, because to me it is one of the barometers of quality. If a place can make a good caesar (even if it isn't classic) that's a good indication that someone is paying attention. This was very very good. $15.50 plus $1.50 for the anchovies. So it wasn't a price performer, but by now it was obvious the meal was going to be special. We got a bottle of wine (a frnech Sauv blanc) for $36.00. We had 2 zero gravity brewery beers, both were good. We also split an appetizer of olives, which were very good and plentiful. So far firing on all cylinders. For dinner my wife had spaghetti squash. , She makes a mean one at home, but she liked this. Personally I don't go out to eat to eat veggies. so I cemented a little more plaque on my coronaries with Carbonara, which was a really good sized portion done well; not a classic presentation, but solid anyway. I think we had dessert but can't find it on the receipt; we had two decafs as well and the total was $195 - remember, this is with a bottle of wine, 2 apps, 2 drinks, coffee, and $16 tax. Not a bargain, but it didn't pretend to be. Not only would we go back, but we were talking about this place for much of the next day.More
