A charming steakhouse with something for everyone.

We were a large family group of 8 in a private room in the restaurant. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. The noise level a bit high, however, due to the "screen" between us and the rest of the diners. Everyone found something they liked on the menu. I highly recommended the tuna appetizer. The filet entree was excellent, too. Great grandma complained that there weren't vegetables with the entree. The ambience is quaint and historical, featuring dark wood paneling and tiny white tiles on the floor. Overall, a great experience, albeit a little pricey. They charged a small cutting fee for a celebratory cake we brought. That seemed a tedious detail when there are 8 of us ordering champaign and $35++ entrees, plus starter salads and appetizers. I think they should have waived it for the principal of the matter. If they had, I wouldn't have written about it.

Wonderful restaurant but...

Superb food and excellent service. Steaks were cooked to perfection as promised. Our waiter was friendly and responsive. He recommended bone ribeye, which we ordered. However our steaks were delivered boneless. Our waiter apologized profusely and otherwise, the service was quick, and made us feel welcomed. Atmosphere was good, and we had a great table, although most tables (positioned side by side in a row) were closer together than we would have preferred, especially during COVID. Our main gripe, however was, after examining the $185 bill (for two), which was reasonable given the food and service quality, was finding when we returned home and reviewed the bill, a $3 charge for additional bread we had requested. This seems like odd practice for an upscale restaurant of this caliber.

Great steak

Ate an anniversary dinner here. The atmosphere and service are definitely white table cloth. The menu had good variety on steaks and sides. It is definitely a great steakhouse. I had two problems. We both ordered surf and turf. The steak was a six oz filet and it was perfect. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and topped with creamed spinach. It was a very nice presentation. The turf was a split lobster tail but it was difficult to get the meat out. The second problem was noise. There were several people at the bar and then later in the restaurant that had only one sound level - very loud. It reverberated throughout the small space. We complained to our waitress and the restaurant was apologetic and they made up with a free dessert and after dinner drink. Nice touch. Definitely worth a second try.

Great VT hospitality!

Our last night in Burlington VT my husband and I wanted to dine at a nice restaurant! We chose EB Strongs Steakhouse. The staff were extremely attentive from the young men who greeted us and gave us a parking slip to our waitress, Danielle, who knew the menu, took her time explaining our choices and came ever so often to check on us. Thank you Danielle! The hosts were friendly, talkative and so positive when they greeted us. The meal was flavorful and sufficient! I had filet mignonette and my husband had the surf and turf—we finished dinner with cheesecake perfectly made! A must do if you find yourself in beautiful Burlington Vermont!

Convenient meal right on the top of Church Street

We both ordered the prime rib special, mine with the garlic mashed per the menu, my spouse substituted the fingerling potatoes. For appetizers I ordered the French onion soup and the wedge salad for her. Everything was near perfect, the romantic seats for 2 in the back, our server Emily, the bread with salted butter, and our entrees. The fingerling potato’s were the only miss, resembling charcoal briquettes. We had more than enough to eat and didn’t send them back.

Best Filet Mignon and Maple Creme Brulee'

Have had Filet Mignon in many restaurants all over the US, and this by far was the best! Also enjoyed the Maple Creme Brulee' and it was amazing! EB Strong is a bit pricey though, and would expect better ambiance for the $$$. Unfortunately, we had a group of older men near us that were a bit crude in their humor and conversation which killed the mood a bit as my husband and I were having a belated Valentine dinner. Be aware that there are all kinds that dine here and you may need to move tables.

Phenomenal dining experience last night. We’ve spent the past 3 days in Burlington eating at all of the most popular spots. This was one of our favorites! We started with the steak tartare, and I had the steak tips salad and my husband had the ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes. The tartare was amazing and the wonton chips it came with were addictive. My salad was HUGE and delicious. My husband enjoyed his steak and the portion of mashed potatoes was substantial (shareable if needed). Service was great. Would return.

Not as good as previous visits

My husband ordered two apps, then a main. The french onion soup, and crab cakes were delivered at the same time. Our server should have noticed, and at least apologized. The steaks were good, but not great. We have been to this restaurant on several occasions, so we were disappointed to see that the standards were not as high as previous visits.

Outstanding Meal

When at a steakhouse eat steak and so I did. Excellent filet and the truffle fries, so good! The squash soup which was more puréed squash was so flavorful and almost a meal by itself. My vegetarian friend really enjoyed her beet salad with chèvre. We topped off with some local cheeses and the maple crème brûlée and ate every bite. Great wine selection, alcohol selection and a vibrant bar scene as well if you prefer that over table service. Place is very clean and an enjoyable space to be in. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing food and service

A very beautiful restaurant with very attentive and efficient staff. The food was absolutely brilliant - I ordered a medium rare steak which came out perfectly cooked with impeccable tenderness. I also highly recommend the maple brussel sprouts with bacon if you want to experience an explosion of sweet and salty flavours balancing perfectly. This restaurant will definitely satisfy if you are looking for food with high standards.

Too slow

The food was good, the waitress was good, the food service was painful. 6:59 I texted my office as we were walking in to the restaurant, ordered drinks then ordered our dinners, 8:30 our food arrived. Over an hour for food prep. I am assuming that like many restaurants they are suffering from a staff shortage in the kitchen but if you want to charge premium prices then you have to figure something out.

Worth. Every. Penny!!!

We went last night for our anniversary and we were blown away. Started with the Maple Old-Fashioned from the bar... it was insane!! My wife had the wedge salad and the filet with lobster. I had the 24 oz porterhouse. I cannot begin to describe how perfectly cooked everything was. We finished it off with the Mississippi Mud Pie. Best meal I've ever had in a restaurant, hands down. However, the best part of the night was our waitress Margo. What a delightful person she was. She was prompt, funny, very knowledgeable about the food, and she really made the whole evening wonderful. Make reservations and specifically ask for Margo, you wont be disappointed.

Great Steakhouse

Walked in during late dinner service on a whim. Great atmosphere, food and service. We had a range of their menu throughout and everything was delicious and well presented. Would recommend for anyone looking for an intimate dinner on Church street.

We had great expectations based on reviews. The service was excellent, the cocktails, lSunny” were bland. I had a house salad that was under dressed, but good. My husband enjoyed the oysters. Since this is a steak house we probably should have had steaks. I opted for the diver scallops. The scallops were delicious, but hade some green stuff on top that was not good. The leek and mushroom risotto was awful. Dry and probably made yesterday! My husband had a special, halibut, which sadly was over cooked. We probably won’t go back.

A great meal!

We each had the filet over a bed of mashed potatoes. It was flavorful and done to perfection. The truffle fries were probably the best I’ve ever had. The hostesses and the wait staff were kind and courteous too. I definitely recommend.
