August First was the first thing I did on my first morning in Burlington and I ended up going back each morning (total of 3) just to try something different. Really like the "no tech" rules because it makes room for conversation and taking in the rustic decor of the joint! Fresh baked breads and pastries. Delicious coffee. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

It was hard to order, I wanted everything on the menu, perhaps I'm bakery deprived. Settled on cup of fantastic mushroom soup and half of a mozzarella/tomato on a baguette. All very nice. My latte was also very nice. We went back for afternoon snack (lemon ginger scone!) We were staying down the street and planned to stop there for... More

Fresh baked goods, a funky, healthy atmosphere and NO wifi, makes this a great place to go to really talk to people and "connect"! Love the setting and feeling of August First and it is a great spot to pick up baked goods and walk down to the waterfront with coffee for a casual breakfast. Always good!

We came for breakfast during our stay in Burlington and it was excellent. I had a maple biscuit while my husband had the chocolate au pain. A lot of bakeries we find the baked goods to be bordering stale but both of these were nice and fresh. The biscuit was sweet and flaky. It was pretty busy and loud but... More

This place is cozzy, very appropiate to bring friends for coffee and conversation. no rush. Bread and pastries are fresh and delicious. There is an assortments of breakfast and lunch sandwiches on the menu.. My favorite breakfast place when in Burligton.

I walked in exactly at 11.50 after parking in front. The young lady at the counter helped me fill my order of a combo: soup du jour and a half Vermonter sandwich. As I sat to eat at a wood table the hungry lunch crowd filled the room to the door. I finished my fresh delicious meal, cleaned up and... More

We stopped in for a late afternoon snack during a drizzly day trip. We totally enjoyed our baked goods - awesome maple scone. As good as homemade from a great baker!

Didn't try the coffee here but not a huge coffee selection. However, the baked goods and sandwiches for breakfast are absolutely high quality amazing! I got the Chipotle one and it was so big I split it! So much flavor and amazing bread. Come here to eat a quick but filling breakfast sandwich!
