We stopped in for a quick afternoon bite - and were surprised to find our hamburger was on a homemade bun and served with German coleslaw.

Attracted by the "look"... It was an OK place to eat. The onion soup was very good, although I'd recommend a different type of crouton in the soup. The "Vermont Burger" had a nice taste but the onion rings on top were burned and the burger a bit overdone for " medium." Nothing great... Nothing really bad... Except for the... More

Ate here on a busy rainy night. The staff and service was excellent. The clam chowder was good. We had the prime rib and the salmon. Both were okay but could have used a bit more seasoning. The candied pumpkin was the best thing we ate.

This was the first time we had been to New England House since the new owners took over a couple of years ago. The food was really good. A very nice menu with many things I want to try in the future. The food was great and their desserts are all made in house and very well done. It's really... More

Had a beet salad, very small but tasty. Ordered burgers with "greens" instead of fries. Burger was good but we expected more from a side of greens then some lettuce with vinegar on it.

Perhaps we ordered the wrong things. My wife had some oysters that were acceptable but not served over ice, just sort of tossed on a plate. $2.50 each oyster, you might get some ice. The main courses we ordered were the "root vegetable and brisket risotto" and shepherd's pie. The risotto was inedible, overwhelming flavor of wine (white wine flavor,... More

I have been to New England House many times and am never disappointed. I sometimes like to eat light so I order just an appetizer, or I order from the bar menu, and I am never disappointed with the portions. Recently I went for dinner on a Thursday night, which is international night, and had a delicious Italian dinner. The... More

Looked for a decent place to eat in Brattleboro and stopped in at the New England House. Food was OK, nothing special, service was very slow (food arrive cold) and we felt prices we a bit steep.
