We took a weekend getaway for 3 nights and had reservations for dinner here one night. It was just the two of us but we each ordered an appetizer since it was our last night, him the soft pretzels which were really good and me...the calimari which I was very pleased with. I had the tuna tacos which were excellent and filling and he had the flank steak that we both thought to be tender and tasty. We took a ice cream cookie sandwich to go and loved every second of it an hour or so later. Our reservation was a little later in the evening and we were 1 of only a couple tables left but our server was very kind, attentive, and she didn't rush us or make us feel pushed out. It was pretty neat inside with what I would bet is a beautiful view of the lake (it was dark by our reservation time) and the building is deceiving in size from the road, it's surprisingly large. The meal was great, I'd love to go back again, I highly recommend making a reservation, and it's definitely worth checking out!More

The Lake House had delicious food, a perfect setting, and is dog friendly. We were able to enjoy a meal with our whole family, pups included.

Three of us took a motorcycle ride up there from Mass. It took us over two hours to get there for lunch around 12:30. When we got there, they asked us if we had a reservation, we said not, and they said they were booked...up. We told them that we went there on our bikes from Mass. just for a quick lunch. Guess what, they found a nice table for us outside, and we did not have to wait. Thanks!!!! I had the clam strips which were excellent and lots of them. We also ordered the Pad Thai, and that was excellent as well, just a hint of spicy taste with a sweetness to it. Well done. It was worth the trip. They were very accommodating to us (especially since we did not reserve a table). Great view and atmosphere!!! We will go back. Nice job to all!More

Always a treat because of the view. You do have the option of eating at the top level if walking down stairs is an issue or you can navigate two flights of stairs and eat outside on the water and perhaps be close to musicians...if they are there that night. Keep it simple and enjoy the drinks. You can arrive by boat if that is an option for you. Catty was our wait server and provided good service and helpfulness.More

The view, the food, and the service are all very good. Besides the more traditional New England fish and burger options, they also offer some tasty vegan and vegetarian options. The “good” rating is because of the following: This is not a great place for...people with mobility issues-you need to walk down some steep stairways to get to the lakeside dining area. And if you need to use the restroom by the bar, be careful. There is a steep stairway you could fall down if you walk past the doorways to the restrooms. They need better lighting and signs, and possibly a gradual ramp to the lakeside area (although it would be expensive to build).More

This has always been a favorite local place to go to during the summer. The views can't be beat and the staff is always friendly and personable. No complaints there. But, the prices have gone up, I think--or at least it seems that way--and some...of the favorite items (think nachos here!--one place we could get Mexican) have been taken off the menu. You don't get a lot of food for the price. For my husband and I to each have something--he had a burger and I can't even remember what I had--some sandwich because they didn't have what I wanted. I had one beer; he drank water. Our bill was $53 including tip. I think that's quite expensive for the average Vermonter--especially a retired Vermonter. It'll probably be a "once a summer" place now. Sadly. No complaints with the food, the service or the view. It's just too darn expensive.More

The Lake House is a favorite of mine. Excellent food and service, served on the dock with the lake just a few feet away. It's a super-fun place to visit.

Stopped with two friends while on a motorcycle ride on a beautiful summer day. We sat lakeside. The staff was friendly and attentive. The selection of beers was excellent. The food was to die for (classic caesar salad, clam strips, 1931 burger). I asked for...extra anchovies with my caesar salad and got a LOT of anchovies. The burger was cooked exactly as requested. The coating on the clam strips was light, tasty, and totally free of grease Menu items are pricey, but worth it. They are also big enough to split with someone.More

And good food, too, besides being one of the most picturesque spots for dining! We are locals, and food-fussy ones at that, but we always come away contented. Granted, as a vegetarian I do not have extensive choices from their pubby menu, but there are...salads, veggie burger, Pad Thai (which I haven’t had yet), and desserts. I opted for their delicious bean veggie burger, made unique with a dollop of guacamole and melted cheddar. My husband ordered the plain burger, which came cooked just as ordered. Generous portions of crispy French fries came with each. Service from the young, hard-working wait staff was efficient and very friendly. They have their work cut out for them with all those stairs! Yes, there are about 3 flights of outdoor stairs to climb down to get to the waterside tables, and to climb back up again to return to your car. I honestly don’t know if they have an elevator option for guests, but if stairs are a problem, you can opt to eat indoors in their street-level dining room, with huge windows and splendid views of the lake and boats. This is our favorite spot to enjoy a sunny summer or warm Fall day dining outdoors and maybe catch a sunset. You will certainly enjoy watching the boats come in and out, and you will forever remember this special location on the lake. I highly recommend!!More

Combine a beautiful lake with a glass-like surface, a perfect sunset, some well played eclectic music, a professional and super friendly staff with a great, steaming hot cup of chowder as good as you’d find in Maine, a great burger and a bottle of root...beer and you get one happy camper. Actually, two happy diners AND two border collies who were made to feel like rockstars. The dogs were treated as well as we were with big icy bowls of water and kiddy burgers. Watching boats come and go was an extra treat. After reading some of the other reviews, I would think we weren’t fussy but we are! Yes, the prices are a bit steep and the menu a wee limited but for everything that comes with it’s a bargain for the soul. PS They do need to add a hot lobster roll to the menu 😉More
