Nice people, great food. Had the family along for a nice seafood meal, and was pleasantly surprised. Old school cooking, the best!
Can't beat the tasted either!
Need I say more?
It's tough to find great food with great service that's not a chain.. When I say the "Fry Guy" is the real MaCoy... He is. Fresh food at a quality price... The owner on site with a great personality an respect for the people... Take...it from Shorty,... You will not be disappointed....More
As I was walking while waiting for my order, I was sadly judged as impatient...and this caused them to serve customers who arrived after me before me. They believed I should wait longer just because I was walking around. I waited over 40 minutes for...my food. I was just trying to stay awake. I had left town at 7 am and driven over an hour to get to Albany worked 8 hours, driven 1.5 back to town, then went grocery shopping for the week. I had stopped to get what I hoped was a quick dinner and get home. There were frozen groceries in the car, but instead I waited 40 minutes and the food was cold when I got home. :(More
The fish and fries are very fresh. They should consider offering the shell fish (shrimp and scallops) without including flat fish for those who only like shell fish. It was also nice eating outside at their picnic tables.
This was the best fish fry that I have had in recent memory. The fish hung out of both ends of the roll by 3 or 4 inches. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce reminded me of the fish frys I had in the...1950's as a kid. And as an old timeer concerned about greasy foods there was no concern for that.More
I have been blathering about this place since May, and Shirley agreed to go back with me, from Woodstock NY to Bennington VT, just to have lunch. Along the way I started to doubt my memory - could it really have been all that good?...Happily, she agreed : Best Clam Roll, maybe ever. How do they do it? I had the clam bellies, excellent.
You know it has to be good for us to drive 4 hours for some fried fish. Planning our next visit, and so should you.More
Stopped at TJ's Fish Fry with my family on the way through Bennington VT ... was not disappointed ... food was amazing and my full grown boys were not hungry when we left ... food was fresh and not greasy and the price was reasonable...$50 for 5 of us ... and we ordered fish fries with the works (fries and drinks and breaded mushrooms ) ... if you are going through the area you really have to stop and try this place .... I am going back for sureMore
This area of the northeast (inlcluding the Albany/Troy NY area) seems to be the only place in the country that I've seen where you can get a fish fry like this...a long filet served with red sauce on a hot dog bun. If you have...not had one you are really missing out and TJs has a great one. I'm not much of a seafood lover but the fish fry is my exception to the rule. Great fries and shakes too.More
