Ordered lunch to go from here on our visit, I'm so glad I did ! I got the fish and chips , and my husband got the bangers and mash . Both we're excellent ! The fish was perfect, and the gravy on my husbands meal was so good that I ended up stealing it for my " chips" .... More

After reading Trip Adviser reviews on this restaurant we decided to have lunch their before a play at the Oldcastle Theater. We both had the fish and chips and it was excellent. The place is small with about 8 tables and you order your food and they bring it out for you. I will definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to spend some time living in London, and so were surprised and pleased to find this quality of both bangers and mash and fish and chips available in Bennington. I also liked their mushy peas (if you're another member of the small group whose tastes run in that direction). They sold several types of imported British... More

We made a point to eat at this wonderful little place. This is a small little eatery that is truly British all the way. The fish and chips were outstanding and my wife loved the steak and kidney pie served with a dark gravy. Highly recommend this place. If it was closer would eat here often.

My sweet husband and I both had the fish dinner--perfectly breaded and fried white fish with nice chunky "chips," along with some superb, American-style cole slaw. Served by the owner/chef, who though a little shy, was sweet as could be. He even carried our meals out across the street to a picnic table in the park(!). Could use some upgrades... More

We were from England on vacation and the choice of places to eat here in Bennington after 8pm was for us limited and when we saw this little place with the Union flag outside I suppose we thought "oh heck" when in need...but wow we were very pleasantly surprised. As they do a range of pies...(and I can tell you... More

While traveling around Scotland a few years back, I became enamored with fish and chips. Across the pond the meal is often served up in nothing more than a newspaper cone, the quality of the food is what is important. At Lil Britain you get the same quality. The fish and chips is delicious with side options including mushy peas.... More

Went in for lunch and got a small portion of the fish & chips and it was huge and delicious. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked and the thickish chips were perfect. The coleslaw was very good too. Wish they served beer here. A pint would have been nice with lunch.

I lived in Britain for sone 15 years and this place really takes me back! Toad in the hole, fish and chips (several types of fish) mushy peas and all the good stuff. I miss the traditional "English breakfast" (fried egg, fried tomato, fried potatoes, fried bread!!" Mmmm...so good for you!) but they're not open for breakfast just yet. Lil... More
