We made reservations for Mother’s Day. The place was packed, but we had reservations and were seated promptly. They had a fixed three course menu. It was 22.00 per person. First was biscuits and cornbread with butter and I believe an apricot spread. All was...tasty. There were four or five choices of entrees. We had shrimp and grits, chicken and biscuits, and truffle egg scramble. One other entree offered was steak and eggs (additional 8.00). There were three choices of desserts. Banana pudding, carrot cake, and chocolate cake. They had a nice selection of wine and cocktails too. Everything was good. Service was good too considering how busy the place was. We’d definitely return.More
Everything was great! We shared 5 small plates and added a salad and everything was fantastic! Also great service! Would definitely recommend for any crowd.
Porch is not in a "shopping center" as one reviewer stated. The restaurant is in our town center, or Soda Row. This is a charming street with neighborhood businesses. That being said, we live in the hood and eat there frequently. The Porch salad is...delightful. We purchased two take out orders of beef stroganoff the other night which was also delicious. They are very well equipped to do take out as well as in house dining. I have never had a problem with the service. This is not fast food, so expect accordingly. Very important to us is the fact that this is a locally run business that is owned by a lovely woman who cares about the community. Love them.More
We went to eat at The Porch today, a Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm. The restaurant was not busy, at all. Maybe 3 seated tables, all done with their food and a new party of 6 that walked in behind us. The server sat my boyfriend,...while I parked the car, and as soon as he touched the seat, he was asked if he knew what he wanted to order. My boyfriend replied that he was waiting for me, and hadn’t even been given a chance to look at the menu. I came in 1 minute later. And we sat for 10 minutes without seeing the server. We made eye contact several times and still nothing. As I physically stood up and walked to the front to ask if we could we be helped, the kitchen staff and server peaked their heads out without acknowledging me. A bus boy said someone would be right over... yet another 5 minutes passed and nothing. We walked out. Thanks, Porch. I’ve eaten here before and the food has been great. But the service has always been rough. But getting ZERO service and ZERO food constitutes a bad review. Hire capable services in this time of despair. People need jobs and they deserve to have to earn them, too.More
We tried the Saturday brunch menu at about 11:00. I had made a reservation through Open Table, just in case. The food here is fantastic. I was a little worried based on other reviews of the service and food. However we were well taken care...of. Our server was great and the food was wonderful. We had the cornbread with tobasco jam and the small pickle jar. Then mealwise I tried the burger with house made pimento cheese. My husband had the chicken with biscuits and black pepper gravy. My little one had chicken fingers. Everything tasted wonderful. We will definitely return to this restaurant. Service was great too.More
The beignets were good, and we should have stopped there. The skillet cornbread was not good. The house salad was ok, the Caesar was not. The grilled trout was average as was the fried chicken. Service was good, not great. Location was in a shopping...center. Not impressed.More
Came for brunch on Sunday. Food is good. Service was terrible. Our table was not greeted for ten minutes after being sat. Only to be welcomed by an unfriendly snarky waiter. Following with slow service, and no attention to detail. Drinks were empty most of...the time we sat at the table. Had to ask for things like cream for the coffee, sugar, straws for our bloody marys. A few people at our table didn't have utensils. I watched our server hang out by the kitchen area, and chat with other staff while neglecting his tables. The restaurant was not busy. Our parties food came out at different times. It's a shame this place could be great. I think they need more training for their wait staff and better management. All of these issues could have been easily avoided with both.More
A bright open restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is fresh and very original. Many of the herbs used are grown in tubs located in front of place.
The dishes were delicious, the tastes were surprisingly complex, while the offerings might be familiar, the interpretations gave us a rewarding pause and robust conversation as every dish was shared in some way or another. The burger was done perfectly, the fries sumptuous; the buttermilk...fried chicken tasty and moist with unique slaw and macaroni and cheese that is not your mother’s but a smoky and lighter version that satisfies; the ribs were meaty and satisfying with a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce that should not be missed; the mushroom barley risotto was satisfying to our lone vegetarian who was as pleased as the omnivores present with the repast. The desserts were unexpectedly impressive in their uniqueness and that challenges this reviewer’s vocabulary. The carrot cake was moist, the frosting lightly sweet with pleasingly with maple overtones, with candied shaved carrots that are still being talked about hours after the meal reached its end. The banana pudding jar was really a one of a kind experience that complimented the flavors of our meals. Ryan was a warm and friendly waitperson attentive to and supportive of our experience this evening. The chef and his crew were visible and the open kitchen immaculate. Thank you and travel well.More
This place should be ON YOUR RADAR when in the vicinity of South Jordan. It's 'southern' inspired cuisine(they do grits!), and I haven't had a bad meal yet. My schedule has allowed me to come to the SLC area for skiing the last two Februarys,...and I believe I may have found this place on Yelp the first time around, and made a point of returning twice on my second. The kitchen is consistent and the prices are quite reasonable considering the quality. It is a SMALL place, and was a bit hard to find(thank you, iPhone), but persistence paid off. Can't wait to return this next February!More
It’s a cute restaurant with a great outdoor space. The waiter was very friendly and took very good care of our group of 10. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs, which were extremely tender and fell right off the bone. We also had the Porch...Burger and the Crawfish Mac and Cheese, which were all just great. Favorite side dish was definitely the fries (fries are definitely a weakness of mine, gotta have them anywhere). Will definitely be coming here again, hopefully to try the brunch.More
Same boring menus. Especially boring for vegetarians and vegan friends. Plus it’s annoying to watch the chef eat food as he is plating. Not sure what he is eating/tasting? It’s a cute restaurant and wish they would step up their menus.
Poor lighting. Sparse decor. Disappointing menu. My pasta dish with added smoke flavoring was bizarre. Barely palatable. The waiter however was terrific. Personable and attentive. This restaurant could be great with some better lighting, something to soften the austere decor and a better menu.
We were invited to try this restaurant for Sunday brunch. Great quality and service. Limited menu but high quality and excellent biscuits.
