3 people told us that we should eat here so we thought we'd give it a try. It was a regular run of the mill Mexican restaurant, We've been in 2 others with the same decor. The meat was a bit dry for me, I didn't finish it all.

A group of us spent a long weekend bikepacking and on the return drive to SLC area, we were looking for some good food rather than standard fast food or gas station sustenance. Its located right of I70 and open on Sunday's which isn't always the case for non-chain business' in Utah. We were famished from working hard at over... More

There were 3 of us for dinner. The menu is vast with lots of choices they were open to subbing more beans in for rice. they didn't have the combination listed that my husband wanted but were happy to accommodate his request of a taco and tamale. food was hot tasty and service was fast. however the bathrooms need attention!... We come from California where we have very authentic Mexican food. The El Mexicano has a very high rating so we thought we'd try it. We knew it would be the right choice when we pulled up and the parking lot was full. Food was very good. Good size portions, very reasonably priced. Large menu with a few American dishes.... More

Large portions. Good price. As others have said, the spice level is set to "middle of nowhere Utah". I had the Carne Asada burrito and it was well seasoned but with very little or no heat. I asked for some hot sauce and the waiter asked what I liked. "What do you have", I asked. She said, "we make our... More

This place seemed popular but there was not much other option. The first server spoke little English and seemed a little abrupt. But she dealt with our order. I order a chimichanga and my friend ordered a burrito. When they arrived they looked identical. They were fairly bland and quite tasteless. I had to ask for my drink to be... More

My wife and I ate here while staying at nearby motel. Food was surprisingly good ( surprisingly only because we were in the middle of nowhere ), and inexpensive. Will eat here again next time thru the area.

We thought we were taking our chances on a Saturday night in a small town with only 3 sit-down restaurants, but were very pleasantly surprised by El Mexicano's food. LIghtly breaded chile relleno was flavorful and spicy; shrimp tacos were overflowing with juicy shrimp and lots of good crunchy veggies; chicken mole was authentic and complex, not sweet, on moist--not... We are from New Mexico so hard to please when it comes to southwest cuisine. This cafe was OK for what was offered tho hardly authentic. Heavy on the cheese and light on the spice (no hatch chile here) and the chimichanga was more a large enchilada than a deep fried affair. All in all tho they didn't scrimp on... More
