What a Find

While skiing in Deer Valley, we took a quick trip to Sammy’s. The food was amazing and this is a great little place to get an outstanding meal in a place with a great atmosphere. Our party of 5, had a 4 different entrees...each one of us loved the items we picked and could not have been happier with the service. I just with we lived close enough to visit again and experience more items from their large menu.

Husband and I had lunch at Sammy’s while visiting Park City. I ordered the delicious kale and quinoa salad with salmon which done to perfection. Husband ordered the gumbo and enjoyed it very much. Nice craft beer selection — the Wasatch Amber lager was very very tasty. Prices are very reasonable. Husband was feeling a bit overly covid conscious so we asked to be seated outside on a sunny but a bit chilly day. Our server, Ariel, graciously seated us and served our food with a smile even though it meant climbing over a small snow bank to reach our table. Kudos to Ariel for her positivity and can do attitude!!

My husband and I had good customer service and quick delivery on our mahi tacos and salad, but then we ate about 5:15 on a Tuesday night. The restaurant did fill up quickly and seemed to be a favorite neighborhood spot in a small shopping center. Presentation on both plates were appealing and I wonder if Guy Fieri might recommend a little Pico de Gallo or blackening spice on the fish. Otherwise, quite tasty.

We wanted a casual dinner and read the reviews on amazing food. Food was good, mine was very good. The other two dishes were okay. Food choices make a difference. Our review is more about service. Our waitress barely spoke to us when she came over. Only checked on us once because she saw us looking for her (we needed to add a to go order). We shared our water as no refills. We finally stood up as we had waited and waited for her to come back over. Her comment was “maybe I should have brought the ticket out with your food”. Really? Rude service of someone who preferred to talk at bar and at hostess stand. I watched other waitresses interact with their customers and even heard them talk about the amazing desserts but we would have no idea. Needless to say it’s a pass only due to service.

Fire the Woman on the phone!!

We love Sammy’s food. Unfortunately, Sammy has one or a few employee he should get rid of. We’ve had 3 separate occasions where we’ve called for large takeout orders and she (not sure it’s the same woman), repeatedly told us to “call back in 30 minutes” or “call back because we’re having a shift change.” When we wait 30 min and call back, she hits us with a “sorry, no more take out orders,” or someone else tells us that we can’t order now. A few nights ago I made 3 calls like this. She gave an excuse each time to delay me ordering, then the 4th call a guy told me that the kitchen was slammed and no more orders. When I explained it was my fourth call, he said that he would take my order, put me on hold and hung up on me. When I called back (5th time), Sammy, the owner, picked up the phone, I gave him a brief synopsis, and he said I was lying and he would be checking caller ID, because there was no way this could possibly have happened. I told him he SHOULD be checking his caller ID!! Anyway, he begrudgingly took my $200 order and slammed the phone down. I wish this had been an isolated incident, but a very similar situation happened in March 2020 and during the Summer as well. It’s a shame to be loyal customers and to have the owner call you a liar. Not great for business. Lots of other good restaurants in PC. Three strikes we’ve learned our lesson.

My family has been going to park city on ski trips for over 10 years and we always make it our goal to go to dinner at Sammys bistro at least once throughout our time there. We usually have the best experience except for this most recent time. My family went in asked for a table and there was a 20 minute wait. We all agreed that we were willing to wait this short time and sat down. After we had waited we realized that more and more people were coming in and being seated while we kept waiting. We went up to the guy who was seating people to ask what was going on and he was nothing but RUDE. Told us that since one person in our party had left (to go wait in the car) that we did not have a spot reserved. Meanwhile he made eye contact with the rest of our party that was waiting. He had a horrible attitude when we went up to him and questioned why other people were being seated while we weren’t. He told us that since we never gave him our name (which we did not ask us for) that we were not on the list, we then gave him our name and phone number in order to have a spot on the list to be seated. After about another 20 minutes, we got a call and we told them how rude the guy seating people was to us and as we were expressing our frustrations, he HUNG UP on us. I never got the name of the guy who was seating people but we went in around 6:15 on january 7, 2021. I hope that this guy gets fired for how awful he treated my family. Would have loved to give them our business but after the treatment we got i’m not sure that is possible anymore.

Awful customer service

My family, which consisted of my wife, myself, our daughter, her husband and their three small children recently went to Sammys. It was busy but not packed. Our waiter was nice but it took over 30 minutes for appetizers and another 30 to 40 minutes for our meals. This was ok since we weren’t in a big hurry. The food was ok but certainly not up to all the hype we had heard. The big rub was when we got our check. I looked at the total and as I normally do, factored in a generous tip (over 20%). I gave the cash to the waiter and told him to keep the change. A few minutes later the manager or owner came over and very loudly and in front of all the other customers, accused me of not leaving a tip and said because of the size of our party he needed to add 18%. I said, “ I left over a 20% tip”. Bottom line, they messed up the total on the bill and tried to cover it up under the guise of me not leaving a tip. This manager embarrassed me and my family and humiliated us in front of all the other customers because of their mistake. I was extremely angry and the manager would not discuss it with me. He totally ignored any discussion I wanted to have. I gave them more money and we left. I was always taught that the brand of any company is simply “ the way the customers feels as they are walking “OUT” the door”. We felt awful as we left Sammys and will NEVER darken their door with our presence again. The manager/owner has much to learn about dealing with people.. I will make sure to tell all my friends and associates to never go to Sammys.

Amazing food ! Great service / we sat at the bar & they were busy .. the Asian salad was full of flavor , as well as the famous Savory chicken bowl with rice .. my only recommendation is that they stay open a bit later , as for some reason , they close at 9 pm along with many other local restaurants. A great opportunity to cash in on a late night dinner crowd! We will be back !

A fellow passenger on a ski shuttle mentioned Sammy’s and encouraged us to try the BBQ Shrimp. On our last night in town we decided to venture out for dinner. We aren’t big shrimp lovers but ordered the BBQ shrimp and we both loved it! We ate the chicken bowl and mahi mahi tacos and cleaned our plates! It was all so delicious!

Utterly pathetic at 700 to be out of almost every popular item on the menu, wish Guy Fieri had this treatment. No chicken for the savory chicken bowl, no cioppino, no Chivito club sandwich and they had one order of meatballs left for a meatball sandwich and 3 people at the table were going to order that. The service was terrible, water boy poured and entire glass of water on my son, which was kinda funny. But then the waitress who was also slash bartender slash hostess took 30 minutes to take our order which probably contributed to items not being available. But seriously there is a grocery store, send someone for for beef and chicken. Lacking fresh seafood for cioppino can be slightly understandable. Sad part is most of the food was pretty good that we actually were able to order like the fish and chips and Carbonara. I guess you need to eat dinner at 5 on the early bird special if you want to get anything listed on the menu. Also if you are out of everything let people know when they order their appetizers so they aren't trapped there with no options.

Got a tip from a friend and decided to give this a try. Really neat little place that is frequented by locals and guests. It gets busy so come early < 6pm. We tried the DDD chicken bowl and the Steak Frites, both excellent. My steak was a perfect cut and cooked expertly and I have my steak medium well. Lots of food! Plus well prepared cocktails.

We were last here last year in the Fall. Take-out for lunch included a steak salad and a grilled iceberg lettuce salad. Both very tasty. Portions good. About 15 minute wait to have order filled. Reasonable prices.

I picked up 4 sandwiches to take away as a picnic to a local concert. I called ahead and they were ready in 15 minutes, reasonably priced and really, really good! I, loved the NY Strip Sandwich and will definitely get it again and again. My friends were all very content with their Teriyaki Salmon, Roasted Chicken and Veggie Burger. All came with homemade chips. Sammy's made our picnic easy and tasty!

Good (I think) for a resort town restaurant

I should preface this review by saying that I'm from Chicago which has some of the best food in the world and that I usually don't go to any resort town restaurants... This place was ok. Its claim to fame is that it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We tried some of their featured dishes. They ranged from ok to good. There was really nothing special. The portions were not really large, and they were quite expensive (but maybe not for a resort town). They don't take reservations, and it is somewhat small so if you don't get there by 5, you will probably have to wait. One thing I was annoyed about was that it was my daughter's 18th birthday and when I called to ask if they did anything for people's birthdays, the woman just said that they have some desserts. But she said that they don't do anything and won't even sing for someone's birthday. At least there was free parking.

If you like over-priced, small portions of bland food, served by a rude staff…. This is the place for you. We got the coconut curry and the chicken bowl. Both were only ok. Definitely not worth the $50. Won’t be back.
