The prices are a little high but after hiking Zion, this place was a welcome oasis of service, calories, and timeless music. Our server, Jason, was extremely attentive and patient in offering his favorite dishes and drafts. While my full rack of ribs was very good, it was not up to Memphis standards. However, the onion rings and apple pie were both top notch! My girlfriend enjoyed their large selection of vegetarian options. As a meat eater, I must say her impossible burger looked quite tasty. Overall it was a great atmosphere to pig out at the end of a long day.

Four of us stayed at the Thunderbird Hotel for two nights while visiting Zion and Bryce National Parks. bWe ended up eating two breakfasts and two dinners at this restaurant. On the whole, we were pleased. The breakfasts were familiar choices, but well prepared, with big portions reasonably priced. I especially liked the stack of pancakes. The dinner choices were likewise familiar, with a variety of selections, with big portions. Of my two entrees, I enjoyed the penne pasta, but the southwest chicken salad was overspiced to the point of being inedible. The salad bar was OK but unimpressive because of the minimal selection. Of course we had the homemade pies for dessert, and they were all excellent, especially the Thunderberry. The servers were all friendly, although service was occasionally slow. It all averaged out to a very good series of meals.

Let's face it, during the 'off-season' especially, this is probably the only game in town. That said, the food was tasty and the staff friendly. You can tell Covid has thrown them for a loop as seating was rather disjointed since they had to maintain social distance for diners and the staff is limited. We saw two larger groups come in and be seated before those with smaller groups (probably easier for the staff to handle). Our wait time at around 5:30 on a Tuesday, was about 30+ minutes. The next day, we arrived at 6:30 pm and found the wait to be two hours so we left. (Thankfully, we were traveling in our RV so had the option of eating "at home".) If you're staying in the area before the high season, be sure you have alternate plans for eating as you may have a long wait before getting in here (there may be other dining options during the summer). That said, you won't be disappointed once you're seated and your food has arrived. (Note: The only disappointment was the berry pie. We all found there was too much pectin/thickener in the filling, making the gelatinous texture off-putting.)

This place is unbelievable. It’s the only restaurant open for miles and we waited in line for 15 mins, then when we got up to the hostess she told us the wait would be another 20 minutes. There was like 2 people in this entire restaurant. We nicely asked to be seated in one of the empty tables so we didn’t have to stand for 20 mins. She refused, argued with us relentlessly and told us we were giving her a hard time. We had to leave and drive 15 miles away for food. See photos attached of this empty restaurant.

We were ready for a light meal and the house salad and chili fit the bill. Served with Texas toast. Our server, Claudia, was delightful and helpful. We needed a loaf of bread and the grocery store was closed so she sold us a loaf of their homemade bread! Great experience and super reasonable.

Drawn in by the signage (“HO-MADE EVERYTHING”) we stopped in as most visiting Zion National Park do. This diner-like venue, with its vintage aesthetic, serves up classics like chicken fried steak and fried chicken (we give them a thumbs up). However, they are pretty understaffed (although not a reason to not come! But as our review says; be PATIENT & kind to the staff) Our waitress, whose name we can’t place for the life of us, was wonderful and accommodating to our party of 9. As self acclaimed food snobs we found most of the grub to be middle of the road, Bob-Evans style diner food. However, be sure to ask for a loaf of the bread and a slice of thunder berry pie!

We went to the Thunderbird Restaurant for our 5th anniversary dinner. We had hoped to get there around 5, but didn't make it until closer to 7PM. We were told that the wait should be about 1/2 hour. We were eventually seated around 8:30. When our food finally arrived around 15 or 20 minutes later, my steamed vegetables were cold, as if they had just come from a refrigerator. The chicken and rice were okay. Not wanting to make a fuss, I decided to focus on the upcoming pie, for which they are famous. When it arrived, the crust was HARD and the filling boiling hot, as though it had been in a microwave too long. So, those are my reasons for NOT recommending this establishment.

We ate dinner here, arriving around 7:30 PM. Due to staffing shortages, we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. However, all of that was made better by an excellent waiter...truly one of the best I have had in a long time. Friendly, upbeat, willing to make recommendations...just really great (wish I could remember his name!). Food is pretty average in my opinion, but they do have a great selection of beers and both beer and wine are very inexpensive. And the pie is very good! There aren't a lot of restaurants around this area, you can't really go wrong by stopping here.

I was looking forward to visiting this road stop for breakfast on our way between Zion & Bryce. I love that it is an older restaurant operating since the 1930's but it did not have the warm atmosphere or hospitality I was hoping for. It ended up being just a typical greasy spoon that was a little over-priced. We did get the pie to go and it was just alright. I would skip it on my next trip.

My wife and I ate here on 7/11/2021 and ordered a salad, a burger, a chicken sandwich and some pie (since that's what's it's supposedly known for). The salad was from their small salad bar, but then the food came out within 5-8 minutes. My wife had barely started eating the salad, but the food obviously wasn't freshly made since it came out so fast. The Thunder burger was supposed to be a 1/2 lb, but looked more like a McDonald's single patty. The chicken club sandwich was deep fried, which the menu didn't mention. Since when does a club sandwich have fried chicken? The chocolate pie was clumpy and looked unappetizing. After all that, I was charged extra for the onion rings that came with the burger, menu didn't mention that. ($18 burger and extra $2 for onion rings) I was trying to get out of there and realized about an hour later that the waiter didn't give me my credit card back with the check (my fault for not noticing), so we had to go back, and luckily it was there. The waiter was walking around with the card in his hand. That was odd. All in all, skip this place. The bill was around $50 for garbage food. You'll get better food at Wendy's.

We stopped at the Thunderbird not knowing what to expect and found very good food and a relaxing atmosphere. I especially liked that the place was vegetarian friendly and they were very accommodating about other food needs. It was a bit pricey, but worth it.

All-in-all this was a good place to eat. There was a good selection on the menu and the pie was great. The only problem I had was with the prices. If you're in the area then you realize quickly this is the only decent establishment for miles in any direction. So the prices were quite high considering the same style meal 30 miles down the road would be 20% cheaper. It was a bit understaff as were most places we visited during our week long trip. I empathies with the staff b/c they did good job considering the amount work they had to handle.

The food was horrible, along with an irritating waiter. In all of our three separate introductory dinner dishes the veggies were pre-cooked, re-warmed, tasteless pieces of mush. The ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy presented well but were far south of any dehydrated affairs we have ever tasted; grainy, pasty, cold, and tasteless. All our meat dishes; roast beef, chicken fried steak, and fried chicken shared the same characteristics; warm on the outside, cold on the inside. Obviously everything had been stacked on a plate then microwaved together, and not long enough. Bleah! The waiter began hitting on us for dessert well before the half way point of our meal, and after the second time was politely told he was still way too early. For the next three days we totally avoided what could and should have been a regular meal stop between Zion and Bryce Parks.

We ate at the Thunderbird several times while visiting Zion National Park. Overall food was good. The sweet potato fries were outstanding! The chicken teriyaki was very good on the dinner menu. The pies are excellent! The atmosphere is charming and the staff are exceptionally friendly. There are limited restaurant options in the area so great to know The Thunderbird is a consistently positive option.

Very sad to leave one star for a restaurant with such a cool story and look. Upon payment of a 130$ check, (tax included, bill was 120$) I decided to tip 13%, because our server was very pushy, beers were drafted from the bottom of the barrel and tasted soapy, and overall we weren’t fully satisfied with how it went. For the first time in my life I was told that I HAD TO tip what the suggestions said. I said that the minimum (18%) wasn’t what I felt like tipping and I explained my reasons. I was pushed to tip the minimum against my will, and the reason was: if you can afford to come to a restaurant you should tip what you have to. I ended up tipping 18% as requested, but I don’t recommend to eat at a place where the suggested tip becomes mandatory in light of a service that is not up to standard.
